    I figured out the following tweak, but it's a little glitchy, where you can only change the wife's equipment and update attributes and skills by talking to her in a tavern or while walking around the scenes in castle/village/city.
    In conversation.txt,
    Add 1 to the number in the second line of the file.
    After the line beginning with "dlga_spouse_talk:combined_political_quests", add a new line:

    Hi. I made an expanded version of the Joseon troop tree.
    I tried to make it look and feel more historically Joseon based on my amateur knowledge.
    * Generally, regular troops are unarmoured; only advanced units are armoured
    * Archers are Joseon's best units, so they get three tiers
    * Light cavalry (unarmoured horse archers) are added
    * There's a hand cannon troop, but there are few of them in AI's armies

    Simply edit module_constants.py—
    Go to #diplomacy, and change:

    Basically, you want enough "slots" between each variable for all of the factions (In Native, it is around 6, so intervals of 10 works, but this mod has around 30 factions, so intervals of 40 should be suitable).
    When compiled, affected files are: conversation.txt, menus.txt, scripts.txt, simple_triggers.txt
    I tested, and this fixes the daily diplomacy glitches.

    I also suggest changing just the number of the start year from 1516 to something around 1560 for immersion's sake.
    According to Wikipedia article on the Arquebus,
    Arquebuses were introduced to Japan in 1543 by Portuguese traders, who landed by accident on Tanegashima, an island south of Kyūshū in the region controlled by the Shimazu clan. By 1550, copies of the Portuguese arquebus referred to as "tanegashima, teppō or hinawaju" were being produced in large quantities.
    Since the Japanese and the Ming in the mod have significant numbers of gunpowder weapons, it would make sense if the year was later in the century, like around 1560.

  5. Troop tree length?

    I reduced the size of AI armies already in my version here, they were quite big for M&B to goad the AI into doing something.  This is no longer needed for Warband.

    I made a poll, the 'monetary constraint' system will let you recruit any troop, any level but it will get pretty expensive.  As a result troops will no longer be upgradeable.

    I agree, with a qualification.
    Each troop type should have their own upgrade routes, which are linear. Upgrading does not change the troop type.

    For example, when you recruit a peasant, it should be an Unexperienced Peasant that can upgrade to Experienced Peasant and Veteran Peasant, etc., but never upgrade into a knight.
    Same with other troops, except regular soldiers should skip the unexperienced level and start from just a regular level soldier that can be upgraded to Experienced, Veteran, etc.

    This is kind of what the China Battlefield WW2 mod does.
    Not only is this close-ish to how it works in the real world, but it is also a good compromise for people who do want to upgrade their troops.

    If you're going to fix that quest, you might as well also fix or remove the quest where a lord asks you to bring enemy prisoners, because the same thing happens and players can't complete the quest.

    By the way, a minor spelling issue that should be very quick and easy to fix:
    In army names, it should read, "Headquarters", not "Headquarter". The word "headquarters" in its noun form is always spelt with an 's' at the end, no matter what.
    I like how you named lord's armies by divisions, armies, headquarters, etc., so this misspelling slightly takes away from the atmosphere.

    Did you consider making different types of officers for every single class, so that a melee soldier who gets upgraded to an officer doesn't suddenly get a horse and a submachine gun? Or a veteran MG gunner doesn't lose his mg when you upgrade him to an officer?

    I think you made a little mistake in the troop files with regards to the rifle class among the NEAJA.

    Right now, NEAJA Veteran (Rifle lvl 3) are upgraded straight to NEAJA Officer.
    It skips NEAJA Warrior (Rifle lvl 4).
    NEAJA Warrior needs to be included in the troop tree.
    You shouldn't forget to also have NEAJA Warrior upgrade to NEAJA Officer.

    To fix this, I changed the second last numbers of the following lines from troops.txt:

    trp_ne_veteran NEAJA_Veteran NEAJA_Veterans 74448896 0 0 28 170 0
    and
    trp_ne_warrior NEAJA_Warrior NEAJA_Warriors 74448896 0 0 28 0 0

    to:
