    A related suggestion:
    Since the AI is organized like a regular army now, it would be awesome if chain of command would break down as certain characters are killed, i.e. when the general is killed the tactical chain is no longer effective or the tactical skill drops to a lower level, as the second in command takes over. Maybe one or a couple of npc's in each battlegroup could be appointed as leader/seargents of the formation and carry a formation skill according to the skill of the soldiers. If this/these npc's are killed, the formation skill drops and the formation dispands or responds more losely, as the individual AI no longer receives good formation orders.
