Very cool. I always thought Warband was missing some authentic music of the time. Although it is very hard if not impossible to recreate early medieval music, maybe they could have maybe used some instruments of that era (like Tagelharpa for sturgians, lyras for Empire). But the Nyckelharpa (?) they use sounds similar so... I quit the nitpicking now. I'm really looking forward to discover all the music ingame

As for the string instruments, many of them were tuned in a drone/ bordun tuning in medieval times afaik, so the learning transfer is not that hard. If you are a somewhat skilled guitar player for example, it is easier to pick up similar instruments. I tune my guitar to a drone tuning sometimes (DADDAD) -> instant medieval sound. But i guess they are also great musicians, as you said
