Glad to hear that Gamescom went really well for the TaleWorlds team, and for everyone who got a chance to play! Now I’m just waiting for my chance to try the beta and then early access!

Here’s my questions as of right now:

    1. What criteria are you basing the waves of invites for the beta on? I’m assuming computer specs mostly.

    2. As others have asked, what systems are in place for reporting bugs etc. from within the beta?

    3. Will the beta expand to include other game modes? I would love to get a look at captain mode, and possibly some multiplayer sieges etc.

    4. Roughly what percentage of single player features and gameplay mechanics will be in game upon early access release? Many of the blog posts make it seem as though it will be nearly feature complete, while some suggest otherwise.

    5. What challenges do you anticipate during the beta and leading up to the early access release, and how do you plan to overcome them?

    6. What guidance can you provide to those who get invited to the beta to ensure that they provide you with the best possible feedback for improving the overall experience?

That’s it for now. Again, congrats for a successful expo, and I can’t wait to experience the game myself and to help perfect this long awaited masterpiece!

Cheers, Armagan! Thank you for all the devoted work you and your team have put into this game. It must be a great feeling to be able to make the game of your dreams, and be supported by so many fans for it. It's what makes Taleworlds such a unique game company, and I wish you all the best!

It's almost harvesting season, ladies and gents!

But what kind of witchcraft is this? 21 minutes of uncut video; this is a milestone.

    Ah here you are.
Would you like to explain this

Oh my goodness....how did I not catch that?? I feel so betrayed, Terco. All this time......
I’m not mad, Terco. Just severely disappointed. And also mad.

I think your overview of the gameplay was spot on, Khergit. When the shield just evaporated into thin air, I was pretty surprised and not happy with it at all. I like to think that it’s just a placeholder, but either way, it needs to be updated for sure.
Also, you made a great observation about the inverse kinematics. I thought something felt slightly off, and I think that’s what it is. I also remember older gameplay videos seeming more weighty and realistic than this one did.
    Again, great overview man! Thanks

Glad to see you're still amongst the living, Callum!
As for the gameplay, it looks like it's coming along rather well. I agree with the majority of the complaints so far, though. The UI needs some cleaning up, audio could use some TLC, and some balancing when it comes to the archers. I also am strongly against the visible arrow tracers. It's a bit immersion-breaking for whatever reason.
On the other hand, I actually like that the combat looks slower than Warband's. To me, its a good speed. I also think that a lot of the animations are looking really good. They could be better, but they're already far exceeding my expectations.
All this said, I never played a ton of multiplayer, so my opinions on certain things may not have as much weight as others. I'm definitely a singleplayer kind of guy, so I can't wait to see some more gameplay relating to that.
Thanks for the video, and again, welcome back Callum.

Unfortunately the test failed and so they have had to return to the drawing board. Early estimates from experts suggest this could set the game back by 3 years or more .

Nonsense, dead test subjects doesn't mean that the test failed, it's a matter of perspective.

    +1
They knew the risks involved. Their sacrifices are necessary for the advancement of the game

    @TaleWorlds / @Callum_TaleWorlds,

What is the selection process for the beta? I really do hope loyal players don't get excluded simply because they have few multiplayer hours logged.
There isn’t a separate log for multiplayer and single player hours.

isnt it a multiplayer beta though?

Yes, but he means that they wouldn’t be able to differentiate hours spent on sp or mp. The log just shows how many hours you’ve played, but not in what mode. So in theory, if hours played is their criteria, then you could get picked for the beta even though you’ve never played mp. But who know what the exact criteria even is. I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough

Why can't we release the game early and finish it with patches? And the players are happy and you can make patches for another 20 years! Isn't that easier? Waiting for release on Gamescom, and still ready to become a beta tester of your game!!!

To me, that business model is everything wrong with the gaming industry today. I’d rather wait for a full, working game than one that is rushed out the door to ride the hype train, but is nowhere near complete

Edit: Disregard if your comment was sarcasm. Hard to tell through text

¿How could the beta invitation be?  I mean,  private Message?  Mail to registered email?  How?
I imagine nothing more tragic to any of us, than having the invitation somewhere and dont know of it existense  haha

    +1
Until we find out, I guess I’ll have to check my Taleworlds messages, every email account I’ve ever made, my voicemail, and my AOL instant messenger just to make sure they didn’t send me an invite

I guess I see what you mean. But if next weeks blog is about a single player feature like mentioned earlier, then I’m okay with it. You’re right that it was a small amount of information, but it’s offset by its importance in my opinion

I agree. For a while I've been of the opinion that you get more from the blogs by kind of "reading between the lines" than just reading the words on the page.
Of course, you have to be careful that you don't red too far, or else you get disappointed.

Cautious optimism is the name of this game, for sure!

ehh not the worst blog but still pretty stale and empty, its only redeeming attribute is that it came out on a thursday. although i feel as if i already knew there was a closed multiplayer beta..
    I did
This pretty much just stated that they started the beta. a step in the right direction at least

That was the whole point of the blog. They’ve been telling us that there WOULD be a beta, but nobody had any clue when. I see this as a very exciting step. The game has officially been put in the hands of actual players. How does that not make for a great blog post?

Edit: I realize this comes off as confrontational, and that’s not the tone I was going for. I’m genuinely curious your thought process on this

I hope modes other than 6v6 skirmish are included. I know those ESports clan guys play it because that's what they're into, but (if I could go out on a limb here) I think most would prefer big modes like Captain or Siege.

I’m sure they’ll have more modes available in later stages of closed or open beta, if they don’t already. I could see 6v6 being a good starting point though, especially with a small closed beta.

I’m also, as an almost exclusively single player guy, pretty interested in captain mode. I feel like it will blend the play styles of single and multiplayer pretty nicely

Oh, boy, Terco is gonna love this

I'm reallllllly hoping this means features/content is done/close, just hasn't been fully implemented yet...

That being said, the fact that the closed beta is live is excellent news! Let's hopetm this early part goes smoothly so we can get to the open beta/full release sooner.

That sentence must be understood making the same use of the temporal time space of the soon™. Are we close to the harvest?

Was everything in quotations said by Callum, including the bit in parentheses? Because that’s some very reassuring diction!
Not sure about the quotes, but that is generally when optimization happens. Otherwise you'd have to re-do it every time you make any significant change.

Similar to why they don't implement all the features/techniques until they're sure they'll have time to bugfix and whatnot.

    Ninjaed

Yeah, that makes total sense. I was just confused if he was conjecturing about it being in the latter stages of development because he mentioned optimization. But I’m happy to hear those were Callum very own words
