  1. Auto-block in singleplayer

Well, one reason I can see is that it takes away the value of using a shield. The shield already has auto block. And it's something that doesn't feel like cheating, it's part of the game. You pay money for it, you upgrade it. So they've given you the choice to have autoblock by keeping a shield in one hand, or if you are more experienced in combat you can go without shield and manually block.
    Seems reasonable to me.

Autoblock does not take away any value from using a shield because the value of using a shield has nothing to do with autoblock.

The idea that they've given players a 'choice' here is beyond ignorant. They've taken choice away. If you're not skilled enough to manually block everything you either don't play, or you get a singular type of loadout. You don't get to play around with anything else. You don't get to choose how you play. You get forced into one thing.

I have to agree with several sentiments shared of how I can't hardly stand how damn toxic and cancerous this community has become. I can't imagine how discouraging it has to be for the developers to come in to see the kind of disparaging remarks that have been made. Its really sad to see how **** of an attitude a large majority of this community has adopted --- in fact, I'd dare to call you the anti-community.

To be entirely fair, by their own admission, they screwed up and caused this.  Unfortunately, they decided to make things worse, rather than fix the mistakes they admitted they made.

Because the words of many have not been conducive to progress, nor have they been conducive to motivation. They are the kind of words that negate motivation, and nothing will stop Taleworlds momentum more than a lousy unappreciative community. About time for you all to grow up, and start mustering some maturity. You haven't spent money on Bannerlord, and you all have likely gotten more than your money's worth out of Warband if you're even here perusing the forums for an update. Show some respect, and love for the people who have made us one hell of a game, and are working hard to make us another.

This line of thought is, for lack of a better term, bull****.

As for the ones who have stood behind Taleworlds, and shown appreciation for their first step in creating more effective means of communication with their community, I stand by you, and appreciate you all for coming out and saying something positive since that is what the development team needs to hear. Criticism is good too, so long as it is something that is constructive to the vision here, and not something said with the intent or ability to destroy.

This is not a good first step in creating a more effective means of communication with their community.  And thats something you really need to understand.

What we got after the promise of better communication was what amounts to little more than what you would see on an 'About Us' section of a website.  Beyond stating that 'we are a company and we do have employees' this tells us effectively nothing about the game, where things are, what they might even be focusing on.  Its still just deafening silence.

And to be entirely honest, it feels rather insulting that this is the first thing we get.  It doesn't feel like they respect the community, or their fans.  For the first real communication since the promise to actually talk to us, all they've said is 'Don't worry we do exist, we're not complete frauds.  We even have employees!'.

And the core reason it feels insulting is that its the first communication.  Had this been second, or third?  Entirely different story.  At least then they would have demonstrated that they were attempting to communicate to us about the game.  But its not good that on the first page of this they have to have someone confirm that not all of these posts are going to be fluff.  When you have to promise that you are actually going to communicate about things, right after you promised to communicate about things something is wrong.

So yeah.  People are upset.  They feel lied to.  And yup people are going to get angry and say things they shouldn't.  Frustrated people tend to lash out emotionally.  But unless Taleworlds decides to actually follow through and actually communicate with us...they deserve it.

I know, personally, after this they've officially burned through all the good will I had for them from previous M&B games.  I want to like them.  I want to support them.  I want to respect them.  But its getting really hard to do any of those things.
