-sigh- I know I'm going to (possibly) catch flak for this comment; I find it likely that people will take my words another way than how I mean them, but...
We have substance, it's just style needs improving.

Now, hear me out... I'm not saying that they need to look like one of those Triple-A games. In fact, I'm quite happy with what they seem to be going for. This is for you... "Gameplay is everything" guys (only way I can think to phrase it, sorry).
They have pie (and let's just say that this pie means the game-play n' such: our substance). Now we just need to put whipped cream and garnishes on top, package it up in a fancy box and make it look and taste (feeeel) good, make it the most satisfying pie ever. Apple pie... Now add cinnamon, whipped cream and a bit of butter, cooked evenly to a crispy golden-brown that's flaky and delicious.

...I have high hopes for TaleWorlds, anyways. 'S gonna be a gooooood pie.
(I don't play Call of Duty either, so we're even there...)

    I regret nooooothiiiing! -runs away-

I would not like Lords dying as it would pretty much **** up the entire system. Troops dying from infected wounds on the other hand...
Well that's why there will be a political and family system. Each lord has a family and such and their heirs take over. If there are no other heirs, the lady will marry another lord and more lords will eventually come. Although I would like to see this system as an additional option when starting a campaign because some people might not like that system.

You know for sure there will be? I doubt it and even so, it would mess up with the time. Would have to go a month for a day and it would all just be a mess.
And then all my troops are dead.
I'd like to be able to bribe lords, rather than always having to persuade them. Or hey, if you have a (powerful) kingdom, maybe you could marry another king's daughter/son. Or even see the king/queen's daughters or sons. It's like they don't even exist. I'd think that the king's children would attend his banquets, at the very least.

I just remembered... Whoever said that games based on history couldn't be fun obviously never played the Oregon Trail.

    Too late.

On a side note, how long have you guys been here (playing MnB n' stuff)? I've been playing for a little over 5 years, I think. Was playing the demo for the original until I could buy it, but Warband came out that day so I got that instead.
I have some amount of trust in TaleWorlds that they won't royally screw it up. Anyways, back on topic.

There were mafias in the 1900's. Pirates in the, what, 1700's? I don't think it's so far-fetched that there could've been a loosely organized assassin's guild or something in this time era. I'm just having a bit of trouble finding anything on actual assassins (Assassin's Creed makes it so difficult :???:). Or hire some bravos in the tavern. We don't need an assassin's guild to have assassins. Or none at all is fine too. It won't end the game for me.

It could be neat to have my enemies assassinated, though... I'm already fighting off possible assassins myself (in Warband), aren't I?

    2. Have things you can steal and turn into a thief sorta have something like Skyrim does?
Tell me what you think about my ideas.
You mean more like Morrowind. You could sell your stolen loot to any merchant that didn't recognize it. ie, every merchant that wasn't the one you just stole it from.

-sigh- I don't want historical accuracy. If I did, I wouldn't even want the game, would I? I'd be off after Kingdom Come or whatever. I just want things that make (some amount of) sense.

And that samurai looks awesome, btw.
...I notice that he has two swords. Is the katana (I think it's a katana, I have no idea) for show? Or is the second sword a back up in case all else fails? Curious.
(My timing is horrible... :???: I was writing this and only got around to posting it after medieval_squirrel posted. I must be thinking too much or something. Oh well.)

...I don't think he could actually draw his sword from its position on his back. Maybe if the sheath had a cut going down the side so that he could pull if out... with a clip at the top to keep it in?
    Bah.
I agree. I recognize that a TW artist worked to make that scabbard, but having it slung across the back is historically inaccurate for a quick draw.
A sword too long to draw from the hip or back with one arm must be gripped by the blade and removed with two arms.

Just keep that in mind. People didn't carry swords that they couldn't draw in one motion, just for going into town. Swords of over 1 meter blade length were worn when they knew that they were going to fight well in advance, in which case they'd already have their large sword drawn.

coolness, fun game play and well balanced game systems are far more important that such minor details. if we hear medieval history nerds and perfectionists the game would result in a big boring potato. i can already see the character feeling heavy and moving slower than a turtle. these are not what made mnb fun though. you can never satisfy everyone, but i think the devs should not choose the extremely realistic path. i don't care to see realistic horse animations and such as some claim. only fun gameplay with good core elements and well balanced features.
...It's not even that big of a deal. Just rig the sword to the hip slot instead of the back slot. (Or so I assume with my limited knowledge.) Or otherwise they could make a textures and normals change to the sheath so it doesn't look stupid when the character draws their sword. I'm talking of an inch and you're jumping a mile. (It could also be a delicious potato. Yay mashed potatoes.) This tid-bit is more about immersion than mechanics.
(I rest my case...? Or maybe not. My post stopped making sense as soon as I went into parenthesis the first time.)

    Bah.

...I'd rather the women were kept as they were than shown off as sex objects. Suppose that's just my opinion, though. I (mildly) doubt that TaleWorlds would do that anyways.

Adding LAN in the singleplayer campaign will for sure improve the game because playing with friends is waaay more fun.
    yes
My sister and I are usually nowhere near each other. I think I'd prefer online co-op. It would be easier to access, at least for us. But then that brings along its own problems, doesn't it?

...Oh mah gawd. I just realized: Most (ye olden times) fantasy games are essentially medieval Star Wars.

I was going to say something earlier to reply to the longer lance comment, but then I'd forgotten... Anyway, remember now. Tournaments have practice lances, don't they? So everyone would get the same lance to use? Horses might be different, as well as armor style and whatnot, but I imagine it could work.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that when you're making a video game, you should focus on all three aspects (gameplay, graphics and story) fairly equally.
...Although maybe not for M&B, considering it's fairly light on the story. Gives them more time for other things, I suppose. And I kind of enjoy making up my own story every now and again.

So, for tournaments... I'd like to see actual jousting.
Or perhaps just longer tournaments with more events (rather than one large melee that's occasionally two days long, although I don't have anything against that) and whatnot.

...Just my two cents. Although I should probably get more sense.

I actually only want bigger towns so that I can ride around the ones I own and lord over the peasants.
So glad my suggestions weren't garbage for once. I always thought it was funny how those cultural lines were so straight-and-narrow, myself.

Maybe I'm just a lame and don't love this game for the same reasons everyone else does, but...

I'd like to see three/four things for the next M&B game. Not necessary, but it'd be nice:
1- I'd like to explore from down on the ground for once. That... Or make towns bigger so that you can actually ride around them.
2a- I'd like to have other things to do. Like... You could be a merchant, or a tourney-man, but... Maybe I wanted to be a black-smith with a particular flair for sword-play. Or an archer who makes his living off of difficult targets. Maybe an assassin, thief, spy, etc.
2b (related to 2, so...)- I realize the end goal of the game is to take over the map, but maybe we could do that in a number of ways instead of just conquering everyone. Maybe I can just make my kingdom look really prosperous and everyone flocks there instead. Or I could send spies to other kingdoms and tear them down from the inside.
3- Villagers should probably have their own, daily schedules. If what I saw in those screen-shots is what I think it is, then this might just be a pointless suggestion, but none the less. I think Calradia should feel a bit more alive.
(4)- How about bodyguards? How come, if I have 300 soldiers, does no one care that the commander's going into town? Unprotected? That coin-purse just jingles away looking expensive and no one feels like guarding it.  :???:

These suggestions are probably going to be torn apart within seconds. Whatever, though. Pick away, fellow forum-mates. That'd just help me improve these suggestions.
On a side note, I'm pretty excited for this.
