Be a soldier: a new mode taleworld never has

A good freelancer mod for Bannerlord would definitely need to be expanded upon, and not just be a carbon copy of the original Warband mod. As much as I love the idea of starting as a follower and working your way to the top, I found the Freelancer mod to be incredibly stale from the lack of events outside of battles and sieges. I believe that the mod Aut Caesar Aut Nihil for Warband would be the best example to follow for a good Freelancer experience.

    It basically has:
    - A unique rank up system that uses "progress points" instead of experience to rank up, which can be obtained through different ways that I will mention.
    - Daily Trainings, Hunting, and Patrolling (could either go smoothly or be ambushed) are options through which you can passively earn progress points.
    - Moral decisions that will either improve your reputation or give you progress points at the expense of losing reputation. Ex: Prevent fellow soldiers from pillaging a village or join them.
    - Unique interactions with other soldiers that will either make you gain or lose progress points. Ex: Fistfight with some random drunk or snitching on a sleeping sentry.
    - Once you reach a certain rank, you have the opportunity to command a certain amount of soldiers in battle. This could be tied in with the Sergeant system in Bannerlord.
    - The opportunity to be recommended by your commander into elite divisions, such as Praetorian Guard. For a medieval setting, this could be the equivalent of joining the king's retinue. Similar to the Praetorian Guard experience in the mod, the player would be given a greater insight and involvement in the political realm as they carry out the duties of the king.

    Complete lack of Immersion

What I really dislike about roleplaying in Bannerlord is the lack of impact of relation with other lords. In Warband as I went along doing quests for Delinard I felt like my character was genuine friends with him, we fought in battles together, went on campaigns and when I created my own kingdom he came to my aid. Same for enemies-there was always at least 1 lord that really disliked me, always raided my villages etc.

However whenever I play Bannerlord I find it lacks that element. Whenever it is due to nobles not being the main quest givers anymore(pls make more quests for nobles, especially rescue prisoner)clans being more important than individuals, or the fact that relation just doesn't seem to affect anything.

This is the exact problem I'm currently having with Bannerlord. In Warband, characters just felt a lot more alive and camaraderie was real. My greatest experience was fighting under Count Reland as we reduced the Swadians to a single castle and dominated half of Calradia. Lords such as Gharmall, Talbar, and Reichsin were chill dudes that I built relationships with through military campaigns, feasts, and quests. Tansugai was an ******* whom I always quarreled with and finally imprisoned in my castle dungeon. I remember freaking out when the Swadians took revenge and destroyed our once-prosperous Rhodok Empire because Graveth caught the habit of feasting all the time. It was such an amazing experience that little games have provided me.

    The Bannerlord Banner Poll

Fortunately, we have a mod that gives each clan and minor faction a unique banner, hallelujah.

The mod creator is planning to add color-coded fiefs according to the faction, so that the world map doesn't become a confusing mess by late game.

What Content Do You Want First?

    1) Longer peace and less common wars. I've been in an on-and-off conflict with the Khuzaits and the Western Empire that lasted for about a year or two. When we finally make peace, we are now at war with the Aserai a day later.

    2) Feasts. I somewhat feel disconnected from the other lords and ladies of the realm so it would be nice to get to know more about them during a feast.

    3) Babymaking should be an optional event. Ira is producing too many kids...

    Mercenaries

I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but mercenaries can also be hired in lord's halls and dungeons.

    Become king of existent factions

It would even be more awesome if we could seize the throne without causing a destructive war at all. Hopefully, intrigue becomes more fleshed out in the future, allowing assassinations and more manipulation to take place. My dream character is to be a master manipulator who becomes the most powerful man in Calradia and not even fighting a single battle.

Join lord's party as a normal soldier

I would imagine that this sort of feature would belong as a mod instead of vanilla. Since crime is expanded on in Bannerlord, I would love the option to serve in a town's garrison and be able to fight criminals, prison escapees, tavern drunks, and a siege.

    Enlist in an army

I loved Freelancer in Warband, but I believe this would work best with mods. I imagine many new possibilities with a freelancer system though, such as being required to purchase your own gear from a quartermaster in the army, gaining influence from activities with your fellow soldiers, performing quests for your commander, and maybe even being able to serve in a town's garrison and fight crime in the alleys.

Does Bannerlord distinguish commoners from nobles like Warband?

According to the encyclopedia and the fact that we start off with a banner, we apparently always begin as nobles. It seems like they're trying to get us more involved with the main quest, but I hope the sandbox and story mode become separate options in the future.

Some distinction between the two social classes would be very interesting though. However, I'd imagine that thieves and bandits would actually accept commoners as their leader rather than a pampered noble. Maybe the job opportunities could be expanded too for players wishing to play as the lower classes(ex: actually serving as a soldier in a lord's party, volunteering for the town watch and fighting crime in the alleys, etc.).

I'd imagine those types of jobs would be more fit for mods, but it would be interesting to see.

Warband had an outright better courtship system

I think they should keep the Warband system while also incorporating the persuasion mechanic too. Instead of just cutting you out of the relationship in a single conversation, it could just set your progress back a little. Meanwhile, you can still continue visiting, courting, and maybe even completing quests for him/her until they are ready for marriage.

Civil War and Usurping the Throne

Civil wars would help reduce snowballing significantly which is a big plus. I'd also love to deliberately plunge an unstable kingdom like Vlandia into chaos in order to gain more fiefs and influence for myself.

    Does 'Death Enabled' Actually Work?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work as intended. The description clearly says it allows characters to die IN BATTLE, and I've been fighting various lords for over 50h now, and not a single one of them died, even though I defeated a few of them several times. While of course, I could just execute them, this option would actually make up for a lot more dynamic world if lords could die in battles between AIs.

Strangely enough, the battle results would sometimes list a lord or companion as dead, not wounded, but they would still resurrect in the campaign map. I'm not sure if this is a visual bug or Taleworlds was planning to include lord death in battle.

    Beautiful but fat?

Found this absolute lad as well. There was no way that I couldn't hire him.

    Does 'Death Enabled' Actually Work?

It is possible to be executed by other lords if you have done the same. It is also possible to play as your heir or spouse if dead.

I'm happy that they've been trying to tone down the bright colors, but why does red look a lot brighter than yellow with the improved armor stat? lol

Sincere question, not attempting to be sarcastic. Is this one of the Kingdom Management features that will not be available at launch?

The steam page specifies that Kingdom Creation won't be available at launch. Hopefully we'll be able to at least take control of an existing kingdom at least?

[Poll] Different Vassal Titles in Relation to Power

It seems that vassal titles are actually a feature in the game, but are hidden in the encyclopedia.
