Just curious. How many here ride horses in RL ?

I have rode quite a number of horses . In my opinion there is not a problem making them charge a group of peoples.
Now I think charges are lame in game but is because your horsemen charge as individuals ( each man charges the one closest to him) and not as a formation. I would also have horses take damage when you hit something so a charge souldn't be free.

where do the Vlandians come from?

I have made a whole story in my head about Vlandia. Like how they came from the Nordland , served the Empire as mercenaries in a campaign in the East against the nomads where they picked up monted warfare combining it with their martial tradition, then were setled in the western part of the Empire. But this is just my story.

Please balance the character movement speed

No they are not. Historically mobility was rarely or never issue. I haven't heard single battle in history which would have been decided because other side had too much armor so that they couldn't move. That just never happened. When soldiers today go to battle they carry ~20kg of equipment. Which is less than full plate + weapon, but not much less.

Bow against heavy armor does nothing.
Weight should have a influence on résistance (stamina wich isn't in the game). Plus wheather should be also influence the type of armor (wearing a thick padding plus mail and cote of plate in the Aserai dessert would sap your strenght faster than a cotton robe).

    Scrap the "main story"

I didn't like that in Warband you were always forced to be a foreigner. Your caracter cannot be just a Swadian peasant rising from serfdom to lord.

All thrust attacks should be couchable

A pike/shieldwall push mechanic would be great. You could have something like the first line of troops holding the enemy shields in place by just fixing them with the points of their spears and pushing while the second line does the striking. But unfortunately this should be to advanced for this game.

    Please add battle chatter

Why limit it just to battles? Watching the gameplay videos from Gamescom, the towns seem pretty dead. Hearing townspeople say the odd thing now and again could provide not only a bit of life to the towns, but they can passively inform the player about the state of the village itself. “you hear bandits attacked one of our caravans?” ”I’m ready for this miserable war to be over” ”Lord or not, I really don’t see how that woman would want to marry him.”

hell, you could have vendors/shopkeepers yell out for customers. “Swords! Axes! Maces! If it can kill, then we sell it.”

then again, it’d probably be a nightmare doing that, recording all those lines for all those factions
Great idea! In towns also could be drunkards stumbling around, preachers sprouting nonsense, and womans of questionable morals (maybe in taverns?). Now I know that this would add to the performance but: how about during siege have some civilians run from door to door panicking?

    The new castle is fantastic

I don't know! It looks there are to many entrances. It could have a second gate towards the lake for people to escape but 3 frontal entrances seems a bit much.I also think a moat would have been easy to dig in this situation

To many spears in captain mode

Also, you can't pack a polearm in your back so you should drop it if you want to wield another weapon.
I couldn't agree more. Units should ditch their polearms if they change to something else.

Which faction will perform the best in campaign mode?

I think Sturgia but might as well be the Aserai if is anything like the Warband, both factions are at the edges of the map so treats can only be unidirectional. I think that the Western Empire would be the most disadvantaged as every faction borders 4 other factions except them, they border 5.

    [ Helmet off ]Game option

So invisible helmets option a la Bioware? Might as well have invisible armor and magic. I would prefer that you are even forced to ditch your armor and your weapons except maybe a "sidearm" when your character enters a city, at least until you are a lord of the faction that owns that fief.

horses crashing into soldiers like tanks

    Again wrong:

Destrier best-known war horse of the medieval era.

Though the term "Great Horse" was used to describe the destrier, leading some historians to speculate that such animals were the forerunners of modern draught horse breeds,[12] the historical record does not support the image of the destrier as a draft horse.

They apparently were not enormous draft types.[7] Recent research undertaken at the Museum of London, using literary, pictorial and archeological sources, suggests war horses (including destriers) averaged from 14 to 15 hands (56 to 60 inches, 142 to 152 cm), and differed from a riding horse in their strength, musculature and training, rather than in their size.[8] An analysis of medieval horse armour located in the Royal Armouries indicates the equipment was originally worn by horses of 15 to 16 hands (60 to 64 inches, 152 to 163 cm),[9] about the size and build of a modern field hunter or ordinary riding horse.

    Horse racing

Thoroughbreds range in height, which is measured in hands (a hand being four inches). Some are as small as 15 hands while others are over 17.

    Wrong:

But it is against the nature of a horse to ride into a solid obstacle, so the cavalry attack took one of two forms: Either the horse did a turn (a rollback, demi-pirouette or volte-face) before it met the target, or it passed the target.47 There is no tactically correct third choice – crashing into the target, with horse and rider being cast down, is documented, but can hardly be called “tactically correct” as the fighter is rendered hors combat.

...the inevitable result of cavalry riding into a solid infantry formation will be that the horse will get stuck in the midst of the infantry, and if the impact did not impale it on the infantry’s pikes or spears, their Katzbalger and Roßschinder53 will soon finish the job. Even if the infantry wanted to get out of the way, they couldn’t – there is no-where to go, and not enough time.

Another argument against the “shock” attack into a solid infantry formation is that it cannot be
trained; even if done without sharp weapons, it is too dangerous for man and beast on both sides,
and what cannot be sensibly trained cannot be a regulation battlefield tactic. What can be observed
in re enactments is that horses will gravitate towards a perceived gap in the formation facing them,
however small, and will (delicately but irresistibly) shove aside the infantrymen both sides of the gap (experiment done 2015 between the mounted Timetrotter crew and assorted legionary infantry
at Augusta Raurica, and at Tournoi XIII; ref. also Bachrach, Carolingia ns , p.

Combat Training for Horse and Rider in the Early Middle Ages, Jürg Gassmann
I have worked with horses and no matter how much a egghead tries to convince me that a horse won't charge a man I can not believe as saw first hand in many situations. I have even saw horses charging a stationary object such as tree and it is not physically possible that a formation of 3-4 rank deep infantry will stop a 6-700 kg horse.

horses crashing into soldiers like tanks

Every time this comes up it is because people don´t understand that when your riding a horse it´s a involuntary relation: the animal do not have much of a choice of where it is going. I mean the rider holds the reins and depends on the bit can control the direction of the animal and back in the day also, they got quite vicious spurs to "encourage" the mount to advance; and on top of this you can train any horse to charge into people quite easily. And usually when a cav charge happened it was not only individual horsemen charging the formation but a whole body of cavalry so a kind of herd mentality can be applied to the horses in the body. If anything the horse charge doesn't do enough damage and second thing the game is called MOUNT and Blade so it would be ironic if the mounts proved to be useless.

    Glory For The Empire!

I hear you brother. But whilst the enemy is at the gates: the southerners prostitute themselves to a foreign "woman" and the northerners think they can buy honor... We should purge these degenerate bloodlines and start a new. Long live the Calradoi! To Victory!
How about that for a speech?

    what about hunting?

I know every one thinks about hunting with bow and arrow but official noble hunts were not like that. Mostly the nobles were hunting with hounds/greyhounds even already had special breeds for different types of prey usually finishing off the bigger prey with spears (boar spear already in warband) and should not forget falconry for birds. I don`t think something like this could be implemented but one could dream: like when you get a castle you can hire a kennel master and buy different breeds of dogs afterwards you could invite friendly nobles to a hunt, they show up at your castle then you decide when to head of to the woods, catch something, possibly in function of what types of dogs you have and when everything is finished you get a relation boost with your guests.

What Empire Faction do you join?

    Found the cutscene of it:

Thank the non-existing goods of MB and our benevolent Police-State for all the corner cameras.
Their foresight really helped us resolve this mistery.
See how he has a Katana?
I knew it. It was a... Ninja. Weeaboos confirmed.
But who sent him? The mithical nation of Ippon?

I choose to find out the murderer first, but I secretly hope is the empress who did it so I can plant her barbarian head on a pike.

Will there be religion in bannerlord?

It would be nice to have religions but I don't think that TW will put anything similar in the game. Though I would like something similar to real religions (excepting the two polemic ones) that ties into the cultures and the history of the factions. Now I could imagine something like: the Imperial factions worshiping the sun\fire (with the Emperor and Higher notables being very important\high into the hierarchy of the cult), Batania and Sturgia something nature related (maybe Druidic), Vlandians close to the Imperial belief but more localized, Kuzaits: celestial horse cult (shamanistic?), Aserai: water, desert (again aristocrats acting as sort of priests).

Dev Blog 3: Prophesy of Pendor 3.8 -1/15/17- CHANGELOG ADDED

Hello! It looks amazing! I see that you changed the Clarian Calls helmets to more suitable ones for horse archers. I do not know if what I would like to see it is possible but I going to tell you anyway: can one make the bucket helms give massive ranged skill decrease to the wearer? Thanks!
