There is a difference from expressing your views and threatening someone. Places like Stormfront and other websites dedicated to extremists are fine. Right to free speech and all. I am vehemently against their views, but I do not feel it's right to censor it. Now, if they were to all gang up and start threatening a black person or a woman or someone who opposes their views directly? That's unacceptable. It shouldn't be censored but it's a breach of the peace and should be considered such by law.

As for that last paragraph, I think you are going into ridiculously sensationalist and stupid arguments. Take a minute, relax and think. Stop blowing everything up. Nobody is talking about giving the government control of the internet. Nobody. Nobody is even calling for anything to be censored.

Not like this was always the logical conclusion of what I'll charitably call their "ideology" (cult), right? Sarkeesian was never an authority on any matter before idiots like you got offended over what she had to say. I am sorry, at which point does that make lynching tolerable? Even if she was intentionally baiting for a lynching, it is much more convenient for her to walk away empty handed rather than facing a public execution. In my opinion the level of hatred she attracted did nothing but to prove her right and that the society is rotten. Not being offended is not a right. As a public figure, torrents of "abuse" and gossip and yes, even ridiculously unrealistic threats, are not new and not unique to the internet. The internet just makes them public more easily. Strangely enough every single other public figure on the internet subject to the exact same thing have never been "overwhelmed" by it, or had to retreat to the fainting couch with the vapours.
It's part and parcel of the internet, the idea Sarkeesian had no idea what trolls are is blatantly ******** ridiculous. Was she living in a cave for the last twenty years?
