  1. Worried for this games future

My complaint so far is, unfortunately, solely with the campaign performance.

Every interaction I have takes longer than it feels like it should to load, every battle I’ve had- even if it’s just fending off 6 forest bandits with my 20 men- is too laggy for me to take part in. I have to just command my troops as I get stuttering as soon as I engage my character.

It’s quite odd. Every dialogue screen, fief, or scene takes noticeably long to load. It may be because I installed to an HDD instead of an SSD but I won’t be able to confirm that until I can get my hands on an SSD.

The weirdest part of the performance issues is that I can make a custom battle of 800 people and it runs smooth enough that I can take part in the battle. But as soon as I get into campaign the game becomes almost unplayable performance wise.

My specs are below. I figure I ought to get more RAM and an SSD but I don’t think that explains the HUGE difference in performance between a custom battle and a campaign battle.

    Ryzen 5 1600
    Radeon RX580 4gb
    8GB DDR4 RAM

Installing the game on SSD makes loadtimes pretty quick. I would heavily heavily reccommend picking up a cheap 500/250gb SSD for games like this.

That is a little annoying, Im expecting this will change when my character will advance enough in scouting.

Unfortuantely this is not true. Scouting doesn't seem to directly influence your movespeed on map. There are a couple perks within scouting that do, but only very minor improvements, like in single-digit percents.
  2. CAN'T BUY? - FIXED

If they would have let us pre-order at the very least... another lack of foresight from Taleworlds... becoming more commonplace.

Steam does not allow pre-orders for early access, and steam key generation for thirdparty sales is limited. Simply not possible with the way steam works.
  3. CAN'T BUY? - FIXED

I'm kind of surprised the forums are still up.

Everyone is too busy destroying the main website and steam to destroy the forums, lol
  4. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

    long post

I think for the most part you're correct, however the "Delay on attack release" bit is definitely NOT a latency problem. It's an animation problem, which I suppose in theory could excaberate a latency problem... It's one that I take a lot of issue with myself.
  5. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

No, what you are doing is totally mischaractarising everything. If you read Noudelle's criticism, you would notice that the steering is loose, the 5th gear isn't working right, and the "improved" traction control is messed up and downright dangerous. However, fanboys don't want to notice that because it's fine below 80km/h and the new bodywork looks fab.

Also he's implying that Bannerlord needs to be changed to be more "Mainstream" and that lots of the things that have been changed are for that purpose.

    They aren't.

Stances? Added complexity. Physical blocking? Added complexity. Strike delays? Doesn't make the game easier, harder if anything.

I could go on and on and on about all the changes/issues that folks like Noudelle are complaining about and how they have nothing to do with "making the game have mainstream appeal"

Please give an example of a change that was made, or something that in Noudelle's long list of issues, that was done for the purpose of making the game easier to get into as far as the combat system goes.
  6. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

Well yeah except for these particular "first person swordfighting" games, especially when Warband was one of the early successes in the genre.

Unfortunately the data doesn't exist so we can neither prove or disprove what he said. I can tell you that NW had a lot of hugely popular youtube videos, and even inspired a few games, like War of Rights.
  7. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

I do believe it's the exact same on Nexus, Singleplayer mods much more popular than Multiplayer. Can't see a way to sort them on Moddb.

Not saying I believe these mods are better either, just that Singleplayer mods are much more popular.

I saw the same on ModDB. I would dare say that NW was super super popular though, but of course when I went to go find the steamcharts page on it I found that it just DOESN'T EXIST, which really sucks. I would argue that SP mods being more popular makes sense, simply because of the differences in community. People who play MP religiously do it for the skill and challenge, or for RP... which means you usually stick with one or a handful of mods, or simply stick to native. MP servers are hugely populated. I really don't think one community is larger than the other at any meaningful level.

You're right but the arrows deal less damage

    Hence "Arguably", haha
  8. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

I have to admit, I didn't like the combat system at all(I'm not calling it bad, I'm saying I didn't like it) it has some good features. It is more realistic but for me, realism doesn't mean fun. I'm not that great at Warband PVP. I spent like 150 hours in Multiplayer. I usually use shield and sword or a two-handed sword in Warband but in Bannerlord I can't use sword and shield or a two-handed sword. I always die when the fight gets to close-quarter combats. Archery is improved so I'm playing as an archer.

Archery is arguably a bit OP with the decreased arrow drop / crosshair "zeroing", plus seemingly increased accuracy.

A world of ice and fire, A clash of Kings, The last days of the third age, Persino, Gekokujo, Warsword conquest, Anno Domini, Diplomacy, L'aigle, Star wars conquest.

I can't believe you haven't heard of any of these, they're undoubtedly more popular than any Multiplayer mods. All you need to do is look at the most popular mods on steam of all time and you'd see the first multiplayer mod is 25th in the list I do believe.

You can't really go by workshop because workshop doesn't include a lot of mods, and wasn't implemented at the time of Warband release... It would be better to go by nexus or moddb.
  9. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

then singleplayer plebs should keep out of mp discussions
bro im going to tie you to a chair and force you to re-read my post just now ?

Dude chill. I'm okay with both areas of the game. I just get frustrated when I see comments bashing SP and claiming its empty and unworthy of playing after a little time. My response was to that. Everyone can go play whatever they want but simply claiming SP is empty is nonesense. Especially when it is the most innovative and unique thing about M&B series.

this isnt just a response to you, its a response aimed at everyone on both sides of this ridiculous argument.
  10. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

Lol really? Dude you ok? You clearly have no idea of the modding community, and I'm sure you havent even played singleplayer at all. This game is known for its singleplayer. M&B didnt get popular because of its multiplayer events, it got popular because of the mods like GoT, LoTR etc.. And many multiplayer events even took place in a modded environment. Get your facts right.

I don't understand why people can't just realize that both MP and SP have separate appeal for separate but relatively equal communities? there are lots of people who got brought in by M&B's multiplayer component, lots of people who came for the SP. Guess what?

The game is a ****ing gem in both respects, and both communities hold their respective modes in high esteem, and neither of them are "Worse" at the expense of the other, neither are afterthoughts, etc etc. There are LOADS of MP and SP mods AND EVEN DLC both, hell napoleonic wars is MP only, while WFAS is SP only. The milsim/roleplay community in NW was always big, Persistent World mod spawned an entire standalone game (Of Kings and Men, which failed, but some of those devs went on to create Last Oasis, which is really cool), but equally there are some incredible SP mods, too.

BOTH COMMUNITIES ARE VALID, BOTH COMMUNITIES CAN HAVE THEIR NEEDS MET AT NO EXPENSE TO THE OTHER, WHY ARE YOU AT EACHOTHERS THROATS
  11. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

While I get what you're saying thats not always the case. The "expert" can also be a purist tied to the past - meaning they may see legacy code/rules as the definition of perfection thereby always resisting change as it strays to far from their idea of 'excellent'.

Yes, that's true, but in this case, even OP has an enormous and comprehensive list of flaws that you are welcome to decide on if you agree with them or not yourself.

In my eyes: Stances are questionably effective. Strike windup delays make inputs strange. Kicks don't work properly still. Chambers don't work properly still. The latter two are basic mechanics that were present in Warband, and they are SUPPOSED to be present here, but they are non-functional or not functioning as they ideally should.

As safe said, it's not about a "return to warband" it's about making something BETTER than warband, and a lot of warband players think this is a downgrade, not an upgrade. It's not that it's DIFFERENT, it's that it's WORSE.
  12. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

Yes, another use of the fallacy.

Please understand: the game is made for both pro players and casuals, both opinions are equally worth.

Safe actually made a perfectly good argument in the post above your first, the one the guy replied to with "Nonsense". He literally talked about the exact thing you complained about with this fallacy, presented a perfectly good argument, and you seem to have completely ignored it.
  13. Taleworlds, this is false advertising and you know it

As someone who played thousands of hours in Warband singleplayer and at most 20 hours in Native multiplayer I would say that the two modes having different combat systems would be beneficial. In singleplayer I don't look for detailed and nuanced attack methods I look for intense and more brutal looking fighting so the battle feels more immersive. Of course this is the opposite in multiplayer.

The detailed and nuanced attack methods are already here, the problem is that the details and nuances are muddied by loose controls. If things were tightened up, we can easily have both at the same time.
  14. Beta Controversies and Criticisms of Bannerlord Combat.

I believe they have the perspective that changes which make the combat better in MP make it worse in SP. For example, in a single player game you work towards getting the best possible gear, which is far superior than all the other gear, and such does not generally work out for a MP experience.

Still, I am of the opinion that combat with a certain design philosophy can work well in SP and MP. I think there are ways to simply make combat better and more engaging for both.

With the example of overpowered gear, one possibility is to make it high-cost, so you have to sacrifice something else to get it. In Warband, there was

Yes, but with how MP currently works that is an objectively WRONG perspective, because armor works entirely differently in MP vs how it is stated to end up working in SP. and so does gear, presumably. It has completely independent stats. Infact, it's been stated that this is a change that is VERY EASY for a modder to revert if they so desire, to bring MP armor back to being the same as SP's, so I'm sure it would be childs play to have these values work separately, which for all we know, is already how it's being done.
  15. Beta Controversies and Criticisms of Bannerlord Combat.

I don't know what I said that seems so wrong to you.

The bots don't have a bit when they chamber-block you, they literally were just swinging their swords randomly, and when you have a big group of them doing that, one will sometimes get a chamber-block completely by accident. Sometimes you swing into a big mass of them, and one happens to swing in the correct direction at the correct time, and this kills your momentum, and can often kill you on the harder mods.

If a bot would duel me and use chamber blocking and advanced tactics, I'd have a lot of fun with that. I often play on hard difficulties settings with maximum AI for those sorts of purposes. But I'm not sure the 100 random Looters should really be doing that sort of thing. Someone may have an alternate perspective on this, of course.

You arent necessarily wrong but preventing bots from chambering completely would kind of be "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" as they say.
I've always wanted an opportunity to actually use that phrase
  16. Beta Controversies and Criticisms of Bannerlord Combat.

It's like some people believe that improving and fixing things with the combat will somehow impact their single-player experience negatively.

They literally do. There are people saying exactly that in this very thread.
  17. Will Mount Blade Bannerlord 2 have private servers for the calradia map

It was hacky but these was a mod for this in Warband. It worked by making special savefiles whenever you got into a fight that you could then boot up as a multiplayer game. Your friends could join in as any of your soldiers (including your companions) and fight alongside you.
  18. Beta Controversies and Criticisms of Bannerlord Combat.

I'm pretty sure what TW tries to achieve is that a common ground for both gaming experiences. I won't particularly put my suggestions for combat system, until Duel gamemode is out.

Precisely this. And it's not a hard balance to achieve. It was achieved pretty well with Warband, so obviously it can be done again.
  19. Beta Controversies and Criticisms of Bannerlord Combat.

lol no, thats just plane ****ing wrong. MB has always been and will always be a single player game first multiplayer game last. Go play mordhau and stop trying to ruin our bannerlord experience with your perfectly tuned combat and "balanced" features. Do you not realize how much some of these balancing features can take away from the SP player experience. How the hell am i supposed to be immersed in a world that makes no ****ing sense? Do you think the medieval age in our world was balanced to give everyone a fair shot? No it wasn't and bannerlord while being a video game should take into consideration some balance, if im playing SP and my shield breaks 2 mins into the battle I'm going to be pissed.

Honestly if you're so hung up on the shield durability thing you realize that the values can just be different between the two modes, right? Almost every other change that gets proposed by these guys is to make the combat more consistent and reliable. If you don't care about getting into the nitty gritty details of the system, you will never notice the difference

Infact, this is already the case! Armor system works entirely differently between MP and SP, for instance. MP armor system does not take into account limbs.... for some reason. Lots of us don't care for that. If it were changed, you would never know if you don't play MP. So let the MP people have their balance, it won't affect SP anyway.

Lots of changes to the combat system that have happened actually don't affect SP at all, really. Stances, kick mechanics, chambering, swing delays, etc etc. Against AI and in SP, you would never have noticed or cared about the difference between WB and BL.

Lots of you are acting like entitled brats that are going to have their experience wrecked by people who like the MP over SP/SP over MP in this game. There are communities around both, and you need to understand that both can be catered to without detriment to the other.
  20. Status of Map Maker at Launch

Someone will probably figure out how to do it unofficially anyway. I mean, there is already mods for the beta, after all.
