    Thanks. That makes things easier.

I haven't used ranged units much yet, and I wonder if I put archers behind footmen, are the footmen gonna get killed from being shot in the back? I played a couple of Total War games, where your archers are just as good at killing your soldiers with friendly fire as they are at killing enemies, if you aren't careful about troop placement.

You deceive me, Lezalit. I trusted you.

So I was riding by a Vaegir castle with Lezalit, and he talks about what kind of army he'd love to lead.

Rhodok spears, Nord Footmen, Vaegir archers, Khergit Scouts, and Swadian Lancers.

I wonder if this really is the best of each faction. Seems legit, though if you grab swadian troops, and go to war with Swadia, your lancers may have morale problems.

Incidentally I also managed to beat some Khergit desert raiders on the way to deliver tavern goods, by having my army hold firm and pin down their cavalry units. It nabbed me some nice horses. Sweet loot.

    Sounds great!

I've been playing the demo version until I get enough money to buy it properly. Apparently you're only allowed 30 in game days. I managed to kite an enemy warband to an allied warband, so we could attack together, and that's when I get the notice. So I'm a step away from helping a Swadian army fight a Kerghit army, but I have to wait until I can buy the game first. So exciting.
  7. How do you play warband?

Not sure I can say much, because I'm new and am still getting the fundamentals down, but I like to play as a Manhunter. Tracking, spotting, pathfinding, looting, and prisoner management. Helps me travel fast, and hunt down looters more easily. I don't care to burn villages, because I like playing the good guy. I agree that getting a hero who's more of a fighter than a doctor or general kind of feels like a waste. At least I don't give them high priority.

Unless of course I made myself a combat specialist, because cutting down enemies myself is pretty awesome.

I've been starting in Swadia, and they have a good balanced army, but I'm not particularly attached to them.

For convenience I grouped skills in certain character types. I'll show it, in case that's useful for anyone.

    Thanks muchlies
  9. New guy wanting some tips

Yeah. He seems to have Artimenner in both of them. I think he meant Firentis in the good guy side instead. Though Rolf is in both too
  10. New guy wanting some tips

Well I'd have to hope the RNG is with me to get everyone I want. I've read that a little conflict can be manageable, so there is some wiggle room.

Also I have been avoiding raiding villages and such. I want to play a good guy, so I don't prey on towns, or travelling farmers and merchants.
  11. New guy wanting some tips

Ok. I'll do that. Is it possible to eventually get 10 in everything, or is there a level cap giving a limit on skillpoints?
  12. New guy wanting some tips

Thanks for the tips. I know some heroes don't like each other, and that skills stack. I see training as mostly a "War General" type skill, but it could be important enough to give everyone. I'm still learning.

I mostly start and hang around Swadia, as they have a balanced army and strong cavalry, but I may go with the idea of "Swadian knights, Rhodok sharpshooters, and Nord huscarls". I don't know. I'm still experimenting.
  13. New guy wanting some tips

I've been kind of hoping to find Artimenner. I've met him on previous playthroughs, and he's a good trainer. Finding heroes is kind of random, though. I did join two tournaments, and managed to barely win one. I don't know about sea raiders.
  14. New guy wanting some tips

I just recently came across the demo on Steam for this game, and am quite interested in it. After some experimentation, I decided one of the best early game playstyles is kind of a Manhunter. Putting skill points in tracking, spotting, pathfinding, looting, and prisoner management. I have a good...
