I think the problem has been mentioned, but I haven't seen a similar image yet. Whenever I switch to 1st person perspective the game crashes with this error:

The whole of the suburb is our haunt, really. Me and subsequent leadership quickly moved away from the centralised HQ structure we maintained in the early days, and the advantages of this became more then clear after fighting various zed groups, and later during a war with another survivor group (well; pk'er group in denial, really).
It's been rough going the last few months. Twice the survivors were almost completely pushed out of the suburb. The first time the NMC saved our behinds, and the second time we barely managed to hold on by a straw at times.

The Battle for Yagoton was declared back in June and was only definitively ended last week with the general decline in zombies. Honestly, the battle started much earlier. We've faced quite a few zed groups in the meantime. If you checked the suburb out during that time, it's understandable you found things in such a state. We were struggling to maintain our position

I think what he's referring to is that when you steal something, you take something from someone, who then doesn't have it anymore and obviously (loses possesion of) something. A more correct comparison would be if you imagine the person in question having a device that could create an exact blueprint of the car in question, which he could then insert in some machine back home to create an exact copy

Stealing? No. Immoral? Most would probably say yes, as long as the owner's consent was not given (I doubt that much thought would be given to the manufacturer by the common man, especially when it's about physical property. Obiously intellectual 'property' is often considered differently). Illegal by law? Usually yes, when the manufacturer's consent is not given.
It's not as clear cut as 'stealing' imho, and certainly a lot more counter-intuitive. The stealing analogy is just a cheap way for various institutions to make the problem simpler then it is, imho, and fails to take a lot of valid considerations concerning intellectual property serious. And if the roots of the problem aren't taken serious, is it really a surprise then that a solution seems impossible?

I'm probably paranoid, but in the end my problem is with the whole 'anonymous international middle-man' bit that is Paypal. It's making me very wary to use their services. Anyway, I'll ask in the Benelux forums.

And to respond directly to your question - I think there's just a cracker who enjoys producing a crack and wants his work to be noted, and people who can do just that: people that do enjoy the game but for whatever reasons (rather then considerations) fail to pay for it.
Maybe sometimes a crack is actually a form of flattery, done because people consider the game worth the effort, rather then the other way around as you suggest.

I'd love to get the game, I WANT to get the game. I'm completely addicted to it. But I have no trust in Paypal, and haven't got acces to a creditcard (I've asked around: nobody in my vicinity has one. It's not a common thing around these parts), meaning that the list of level 8 characters grows almost daily. It's getting depressing, really.
I'll admit that I've been thinking of looking for a crack to the game untill such a time that I can actually pay for it. Looking at this topic, I'll instead make a plea: Among those living in my country (the Netherlands), is there anyone who can help me in buying a key for Mount&Blade? I'm not asking you do it for free, besides the key price I offer to compensate for the effort. The game is worth it.

You can 'catch' (it's time-triggered. 24 hours after activation iirc) the rumour anywhere, really, the gate is just near Bravil.

Shivering Isles is quite a bit better then Oblivion itself in a TES sense. It's a deeper experience story and lore-wise. The dialogues are a thousand times better, and some of the moral ambiguity returns. Politics plays a more prominent role too, although is still not that impressive, and it barely involves you directly. Finally you get to make some choices with limited consequences and the world is also somewhat imginative again.
Of course SI did inherit all the gameplay flaws in Oblivion, but if you can like Oblivion then SI's a decent enough choice.

Might be a solution for us in places where you're sooner to find a treasure map then a creditcard?
Although such SMS services can be of a dubious nature. I wouldn't want to find out that I'm getting billed for junkSMS after using this service
