    [Bug] Severe graphics-errors in Multiplayer

Hi! I received my invite for Warband recently. Thank you for that! Sadly, the multiplayer-part is unplayable for me right now because of severe graphics-errors that are apparent in all things related with the multiplayer-mode. I am using the DirectX7-rendering mode with everything disabled...

Prophesy of Pendor V2.02 Patch Issues

    2 Issues:

    • I formed the Pendor kingdom (One castle + village) and have been desperatly trying to get a lord on my side. At first, I had absoluty no clue how to do so (this is valuable information which should be addressed in game...) but then I read many threads here in the forums and found out that I have to have a very positive relation with a lord to 'turn' him. I then started doing everything for one particular lord of a neutral faction and hoped that a dialogue-option for turning this lord over to my side would appear sometime - Which it didn't. I am the ruler of the Pendor faction, I have a honour-rating > 25 and +95 relation with that specific lord and I still can't ask him to join up with me. What am I missing?
    • I fought three spawned armies so far, the latest being that undead army. Interestingly, it was by far the hardest army to fight because the Netherworld chargers have > 900 hitpoints and their riders, undead reverants (?), can take up to three (!) headshots with a masterful bow. To make matters worse, most of them carry shields which makes projectiles all the more difficult to use against them. The only good thing about the undead army is that although they are freakingly powerful, their attacks are quite weak: Most of them don't charge you directly, which would butcher you in an instant, but have a strong tendancy to circle you and use their projectile-weapons on you. Luckily, they really suck at throwing things at you. But now for the real bug / imbalance: Although it was the hardest army to defeat because of their high hitpoints and strong armour, the loot they dropped plainly sucked! All I got were three (!) 'various loot' packages and the rest of the loot was really crappy mixed stuff. I expected some of their great armour and especially their Netherworld Chargers to be among the loot. Additionally, the Jatu army's loot consisted of many gold-bars and very, very many 'various loot' packages - So many that I had to empty some of my inventory in order to get them all. But the undead army left me with almost nothing. This should be more balanced.

P.S.: I have been playing M&B since 0.5, have played many a mod and coded some stuff for M&B myself ... and aside from TLD (which hasn't been a fraction of as active as you guys have been lately!), PoP is the best, most complete, most immersive and most mature (in terms of audience) mod I have ever played. Thank you so much for this!

I'm sorry - My thread-title here was misleading. This is NOT the official bug-report thread for version 1.003. Please report this bug to  the official bug-reporting thread.

Got to disagree with this one, playing as the Nords I was asked to get 5 heads.

See my reply above. It really seems like I had a stroke of nines in that quest. I did it for four different villages in a short period of time (wanted to get better relations to my villages) and each time the elder said that "Nine heads will...". So I concluded that it must be a hard-wired number - which I found weird. But apparently I was wrong. Sorry about that!

Ah, trusty old OED! But isn't it a bit odd and out of place then? All the Lords speak a rather flawless Modern English. And shouldn't it be "shouting alarum" instead of "alarums"? Nobody shouts "Alarms!"

I didn't know that. Thanks! Still, it appears a strange rendering for living animals.

That's the way feudalism worked, a non-noble holding land is an abomination which threatens the entire system. [...]

That's all very well, but once a non-noble became powerful enough, Lords had to make deals with him/her. Being of noble heritage alone did not ensure your well-being, but your (un)wise decisions did. Had the turks offered a peace-treaty to the brother of Charles the Fifth back in Vienna, he would have taken it no matter how unchivaldric that might have been. Making smart decisions about times of peace & war with other factions is essential.

Hm... that is indeed strange. But maybe I really had a stroke of nines in my cattle-quests and this isn't a bug after all!

    yobbo 说:
... I recently noticed that the opponent sometimes has someone "scouting the location of the enemy" as well.

So this isn't an actual bug, but a feature? The unit disregarding all commands and running towards the enemy is supposed to be a scout? That's funny... and weird.

Without much ado, here we go: When viewing the skill-page of a fellow hero, there's the statistics-button on the lower left corner of the page. But of course it does only show YOUR statistics and not those of the AI-hero. Please remove the button when viewing a hero-skillpage or enable...

Can anything be be done about cracks?

    Kamamura 说:
Spreading malware for whatever self-righteous reason is immature. Plus, it won't work too well, unless you are able to write your own virus/trojan, which I think most of the people here are not. [...]

Thank you! By writing this, you spared me from getting angry about another "Lets all open our mouths about something we don't know much about and let meaningless words come out of our vocal chords (or better in this case: fingertips)"-Thread.

In German, there's a saying very popular for the last few years: "Wenn man keine Ahnung hat - Einfach mal Fresse halten!"... Roughly translated into "If you don't know what you're talking about, just keep you damn hole shut!". I like that phrase very much indeed & encourage people to follow its advise more often - Even in online forums.

P2P and copyright-infringement are so multi-facetted that you can't possibly believe to deal with such a topic conclusively... It has been a source of constant debate in basically all European nations/cultures/courts/assemblies for the last decade or even longer.

Technically speaking, there is no such thing as security (and that is true for so much more things than just computer-games...). Even hardcore-variants like in WOW, where all processes of your computer are logged, all character-data is stored on their servers etc etc. there are still those who manage to force their way into the system. It even is the more encouraging to try the harder you make it for the crews... its like a challenge. (This could be the right place to clarify that there is an ethical difference between hacking and cracking... we are talking about the latter)

M&B has a major advantage over 'normal' games in that aspect: It's not mainstream. The game is done with incredible dedication for its players (us!) and the gameplay attracts mostly the kind of player who knows how to thank the developers for it: By buying it. I for one will propbably buy the game a second time once it is v.1.0 - Just because M&B has turned out to be the game with the longest playability.

I've bought many other games, too, that I found worthy to support with my money - But M&B has lasted the longest on my PC! This is due to the high qualitiy of this independant game & the loads of fun I have playing it - And this is exactly what will save M&B from suffering from piracy: People still buy GOOD games. People will still support the developer-teams who produce good games with their money. And M&B will financially not lack the money of 150 14-year-olds who don't give a **** about supporting anything & play the ripped game anyway ... at least for a period of 2 weeks until they find another game more interesting.

M&B doesn't need those 150 kids because it manages to sustain a very decent and supportive player-base by being a high-quality product for which most of us are gladly spending their money - Some of us even twice!

    Addendum:
    Archonsod 说:
So? Would such people also expect to be let off with stealing a car for a couple of weeks before deciding to purchase? Methinks not.
Archonsod, I am sorry but I just couldn't let this go unanswered: Please don't draw faulty comparisons like that.

My godness - I didn't even manage to grab 0.891 before 0.892 came out! That's really great! Thank you guys!

Don't gut me wide open for writing quite off-topic, but I think this is the perfect place to notify the developers of the poll for changing the slow-motion key: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,26506.0.html . Please take note of it & consider changing it into something more sensible - There were some great suggestions at the discussion before we did the poll: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,26426.0.html

(I know it is not the most elegant way to get attention. Therefore I apologize. Yet I needed to take the chance so that the developers might see the need for change concerning the slow-motion keycombo)

    Poll: Should Slow-Motion become a Toggle-Key?

    EasyCo506 说:
You should change the poll option for the key to be adjustable.
I thought that making the demand as simple as possible was the key to get it done as quickly as possible. If I had opened a poll with the suggestion to make all cheat-key-combos adjustable, this would probably not encourage the developers to quickly do it as it is some more work than changing an already existant key-combo into a toggle-key.

Just my 2 cents / things I've noticed:

    - The offer of Vassalage from Swadia seems to be the hardest to come by. The first offer I always received was the one from Khan (the wannabe Kerghits). Swadia's offer came in last and took more than a month ingame to achieve. My renown was +500 (but I don't know if it has any influence on the order of offers given!).

    - From where I'm now in the game, it appears that you really get only one offer of Vassalage from each kingdom. So chose wisely who to reject. If you reject all, it appears that even if you swear an oath to a kingdom later on in the game, you won't get a village-fief.

    - There appears to a limit on shot-difficulty now. The best/highest shot difficulty I've ever managed was 12.0 in the 0.890 version - No matter if there actually was a distance-difference to the enemies (I've tested this with a cheat-character with 599 archery of course!)

    - Not new in this version, but I never had the chance to tell about it as it is so small a thing: The aiming reticle has a white dot in the middle. If you draw an arrow on your bow / a bolt on your crossbow, the dot splits into three shapes, forming a triangle that enlarges & depending on your skill shrinks again until you can shoot perfectly. That's all nothing new to you! The little thing to be noted is that the inner edges of the three shapes have the base colours red, green and blue. When the shapes shrink together again to form the reticle, the colours add up to white. This is called additive colormixing and shows off M&Bs game-engine! I love that little detail!

    - Horses can be head-shoted now!

    Update: More 2-cent pieces:

    - The inventory-chest has vanished from the battlefield although pressing "i" still tells you that you can access your inventory on the battlefield by opening the chest at your starting-position.

    - Heros leading armies often can't ride very well! They are mounted on a horse, but just walk slowly on it in the middle of their footsoldier-crowd. They don't charge at me with their horse. It is somewhat realistic though: In the "Last Days"- Lord of the Rings Mod for M&B, Captains would charge at you in a suicidal fashion, leaving all their footsoldiers behind them.... Stupid idea!  It is more realistic that a lord would be at the back of an army or at least admidst it (like it is now). But still: A lord on a horse that moves even slower than the footsoldiers around it is a sitting duck!

I of course have no say in this whatsoever, but I believe that voting for it is the best unobtrusive method to be heard that we have. Spamming the guys at Taleworlds with a wave of PMs to gain their attention would be counterproductive. I hope they see this poll/thread and might think about it!

Last night I saw my first flying horse.  Wish I'd gotten a screenshot   It was a long ways off, and behind a low hill even. A bunch of allied horse tore off and got slaughtered while we infantry slogged along, so I couldn't see what actually caused it... all I saw was a horse flying through the air at a good 200km/h or so.  That bug might almost be worth leaving as-is, for amazing comic relief value.
I've seen something similar, although not as amazing as this: I killed a rider's horse with my bow who was charging at me while I stood on a small hill. The horse collapsed & by the millisecond the rider hit the ground, the horse's dead body was sliding away down the slope with incredible speed and continued its way to the center of the valley in front of me. There it came to a hard stop as if it had breaks... Very strange...
No question that I love the new ragdolls, but some clipping fixes and some more "physics" in general would be cool: For example, killing some bloody peasant off with a headshot from a good war-bow should knock that guy back with some force. Instead he just falls where he stands just in the same way like he would had I offed him with a diagonal slash from my sword... More ragdoll-fun please!

The SlowMotion / F9 Plea - A not so modest proposal for 0.891

Alternatively, we could all join EasyCo506's cause and write a massive amount of PMs to "someone in charge" - If we can make ourselves heard via a decent poll or a PM-event, we might have a chance to get our beloved SloMo back! What do you think?
