Lord Relations - Little acknowledgment of deeds

Yes, this is an issue I've not seen talked about and I'm browsing the forums daily. It's not on the known issues list either. Currently sitting at -100 with my ruler (and several lords) on all playthroughs, can't improve relations except in fief votes right now and that require you to have certain kingdom decisions activated to gain influence at a large rate. Oh yes you can spend influence to increase relations by 1, what is it 50 or 100? So I need about 5-10k influence to get back to 0 with 1 clan.

TaleWorlds, are we a joke to you???

This is not helpful at all, things are being addressed by the day and all you do is complain. To begin with, we get to help out in the testing of a product that looks amazing, after all this EA is better than I could've expected. Look at all the huge developers out there, they can't even bring a polished or mind you finished product to market on release date. This game is far from release and comes from a small developer with a low budget. All you do is whine, try to get rid of your entitlement or get lost.

How many levels until you are XP blocked

AFIK you can go beyond soft cap albeit very slowly

Gaining positive relationship with notables is often impossible.

One thing that is supposed to work is dealing with the bandit hideouts in the area. Not sure what the effective radius is, though.
I'm guessing from what I can remember here, but this will increase relations with the notable that give you the quest for it by 2 (instead of 10) if you haven't got the quest.
  5. Pseudo-Gerber

Gaining positive relationship with notables is often impossible.

There are a couple of things you can do
    • Join a faction, this will open up 1 slot in their villages/towns
    • Park your party in a town, this will increase relations with notables with 1 per day. I don't know if you need to create an army for this to work or if you need to be in their faction.
    • Help out villagers fighting bandits
    • Lower recruitment difficulty
This helped me out a bit but frankly when you're in faction you have 2 recruitment slots at 0 relations so this isn't much of a problem

    Relations with ruler

My relations with my ruler keep dropping, what can I do to prevent it and get it back up? I have tried to make a gift but those won't increase relations

Seige Defenders Stand in Stationary Square Behind Gate

They also do this when you attack through breached walls.
    1. They don't even fill the gaps, so everybody can just walk past them
    2. Shieldwall formation is too passive
    3. They would do better if they did literally anything besides doing a pointless shieldwall square that doesn't even close the entry point
If they were stood in the entrance the defender in the tower could drop rock on the attackers. I've seen the do this but not hitting anything since attackers can just run in

    Calvary Ai

Anyone notice that Calvary seems ineffective in actually hitting and kill their targets on the charge?
Yep, I run like 5% can just a a distraction, enemy gets split up and then infantry and archers do the rest. Looking at kills after a battle cavalry has like 1-2 kills out of a hundred

Which leveling system do you prefer Warband or Bannerlord?

It is really weird that charm doesn't level up from attempting and passing persuasion checks. My merc spent the early game mostly negotiating blood feuds and convincing wayward maidens to return to their fathers. Somehow this career as a negotiator didn't make him any more persuasive.
Just sit in settlements and you gain Exp for charm, going to double check this. It also increase your relations with notables

edit: It seems you have to form an army to do this
edit 2: I have no clue how this works but some towns receive relation increases some will not

    Patch Notes e1.0.4

    • After some time during a campaign, some lords were remaining without troops in their party because of financial problems and constantly being harassed by bandits. Lords now manage their finances more effectively and take troops from garrisons if they are at risk of going bankrupt. This was one reason for the snowball effect in the campaign, with kingdoms being eliminated too easily.

We are working on it! Hopefully this first fix makes a difference.
Expect loads of feedback in the coming days people will start new campaigns imidiately

My thoughts on the Faction Snowball effect. Campaigns should go on forever!

Alright, but historically even tiny castles could hold out against large armies and sieges easily lasted months. As it is right now a siege is resolved in like 3 days. That's not enough time to do anything. What's more is that the attacking army barely suffers any casualties. 500 garrisson vs 2k army would cause maybe 200 losses, that's nothing.

I too think that all systems should be put in first, which is what I mostly wrote about. On the other hand that doesn't mean that there can't be some quick bandaid in the meantime that prevents massive blobbing. So that players can actually enjoy the game in the meantime, since they paid for it. Maybe just add a negative modifier to army cohesion and troop cost that would scale off the total number of kingdom fiefs.

I resisted a siege from a 1400 men strong army for 4 days when they were out of food, yet they barely lost any troops. They eventually abandoned the siege. They should've not besieged in the first place in my opinion, no food should starve your army in great numbers after 3 days out of food and heavily impact morale. Their morale wasn't dropped a single tenth of a point during food shortage.

1.0.4 Patch looks ready and can be installed

Still dont resolve crash at starup with no error.
    I cant open the game

This must be so hard for the dev team, so many people have problems with crashes and whatnot still some people haven't experienced any problems whatsoever.

Are there any interactions with the Merlons? Why do they keep appearing in the middle of your screen in sieges

Which leveling system do you prefer Warband or Bannerlord?

If you give one of you companians a party of its own.. You can call him FOR FREE to assemble an army with him. Because the companion has an army and is in your army you get influence for it each day. I was getting around +0.7 influence per day just because he was following me. My leadership was in the beginning jumping with +3 per day. It later flattened out. But if you know how to level it is quite easy, but MEGA repetitive and a total grindfest

I actually gain more to follow the various armies forming around the realm with my own army, though I don't know how cohesion work with your companions, most armies disband after 5 days due to sheer size and no objectives on the map. (The three remaining kingdoms are not at war with each other and all three are at war with semi-dead kingdoms+all minor factions).

I'd also like to point out that when I joined my first kingdom, sure I was gaining decent influence but my income was down the drain. Having received a fief while in 2 wars I "got" a garrison from the AI (they actually put troops in the castle before marching on) I had no means to support it. All my income came from bandit ransoms and equipment sales before that. All of a sudden I'm paying 80 for my party + 350 for garrison and having 0 income from villages because they were raided. It took about one week before an army was stood outside my walls and besieged. I had a total of 600 troops defending against their army of 700. The fight ended with attackers losing 140 troops to all of mine. Fast forward 20 days and we lost 4 towns and 6 castles, Khuzaits had at minimum 3 armies attacking at all times.

Which leveling system do you prefer Warband or Bannerlord?

    I like the new system.

How did you level up in warband ? By killing people. Quests did give XP (and i hope quests will give you skill xp in BL as well), but the best way to gain level was to go alone against sea raiders and kill them all solo.

How do you level up in bannerlord ? By doing things. Recruiting troops, trading stuff, selling slaves, fighting, riding, healing, talking, building, managing your party.

And even for combat experience. In WB you had to have the finishing blow to get the XP, so you would try to KS your own troops to level up faster. Here, death blows are irrelevant, you just need to play the game to progress in the skills you're using.

Now, I KNOW, that the skill system is absolutely broken :
    - Half the perks are just not implemented
    - The leveling of the skills are broken, and some skills impossible to level
    - The grinding is WAYY overwhelming (no idea why they decreased the xp from slaves for roguery)
    - The caps has to be adjusted, as you can softblock yourself if you're not cautious

but all those things are a result of the game being released from EA 4 days ago, and they will be fixed, i'm sure. The important thing is how much potential the system has, and how we, as a player community, can give feedback to point out the good things and the bad ones.

I agree completely with what you said, but for now Warband system is better (due to all the things in your list). To continue on your last two paragraphs, Bannerlord will definitely become better when devs start ironing some things out in a month or two, community support and feedback. They really need to **** up to have it come out worse than Warband in the end.

Which leveling system do you prefer Warband or Bannerlord?

The primary benefit to tactician is to the auto resolver with most perks applying "to simulations" so I'm not sure what your point is, also the game isn't "soild on the idea of personally commanding troops" or there would be no auto resolver, arguably the least implemented feature currently is troop control as you can't even order them to use blunt weapons, and it was always extremely limited in warband. Warband is first and foremost an RPG, not a combat sim, that is why people are clamoring for the return of auto block, they preferred it for the RPG.

That being said USING THE AUTORESOLVE IS NOT THE ONLY WAY OR BEST WAY TO LEVEL THE SKILL:

You still gain tactician XP by winning battles at difficult odds (what you allegedly play the game for, or do you only charge in when it's 95 v 5?) or by making tactical retreats, I've gained far more tactictian XP from both of those options.

The game is sold on being a Medieval RPG where you can make your mark on a fictional continent and timeline, if you don't want to use the auto resolver don't use it, fight every group of 5 mountain bandits after waiting 30 seconds to load into combat - that's your prerogative. The place where we differ is I can say "I don't like loading in to a fight I know I'll win, so I prefer to auto resolve, take a few losses here and there and spend more time on the RPG aspects" but realize that is my opinion you're so full of yourself that you say anyone who autoresolves is having "less fun" because that's the "Less fun" route.

It is not "objectively" less fun, and your opinions are just opinions try to remember that.

It's an RPG not a combat sim.

Damn dude, I didn't think of it this way. In my 40 hours of game play I've fought every single battle. I guess tonight is going to be more efficient

Which leveling system do you prefer Warband or Bannerlord?

    Have you tried lea

have you tried assembling and leading a group of armies. That is how u lvl this skill. Having the morale up is just a minor boost but actual leadership (also in RL) u gain by leading people not just managing. My skill jumped to 50 in no time

It feels like this is what leadership should look like and is in my opinion very well thought out. My character came into vassalage the second time (because my first kingdom got destroyed) quite late, that kingdom already enacted several decisions that made weak vassals lose influence and sitting on low social skill. There is no way for my character to receive enough influence to even assemble an army as I currently sit at negative 18 influence and dropping. I guess that is more of a problem with influence than anything else but I really would like to command an army. Sadly I'm also without fiefs so I'm kind of looking at a new game soon.
