  1. Too difficult

Sums up my feelings on that. Appreciate the compliments. Was fearing I was being underappreciated there for a moment.
  2. Too difficult

I dont think I've ever been caught... just pay attention and dont zone out while your travelling. And avoid obvious places where angry NPC's congregate.
  3. how can you tweak shield coverage

What does Jackie Chan have to do with this?
  4. How to, Disable Battle Grouping ?

Or when a capital is in battle mode and the entire nations army watches it fall, then scatters when the half dead troops finally win and move on, regardless of numerical superiority. Or how when I join a battle, every enemy on the map auto-joins, whilst when the same thing happens to a lord, the outcome is the exact opposite. A level playing field is a marvelous thing....
  5. Need help finding lady!

Or pick a better wife. Perhaps someone with rich relatives? : D
  6. How to, Disable Battle Grouping ?

Just wait until Lord of the Conscripts and Recruits helps you out by halving the amount of top tier troops (yours) available on the field with low lvl handicaps (his) that fall like paperdolls, usually resulting in heavy losses.

Make lemonade. The man just appointed himself vanguard of your army, this of his courage. Position your troops accordingly and hopefully when your ready, most of his men are dead and reinforcements are incoming. Plus his loser troops with scatter, scattering the enemy and making easy targets for archers and calvery.

Relative. I waste a lot of time on video games but I wouldn't classify any of it as valuable. This could have been a great opportunity to see who can pee further. Perhaps I care less these days. I will say that many things are unexplained in this game and restarting a low lvl character to maximize its late game potential after getting the swing of things shouldn't be greek to anyone with a mild proficiency at video games looking to maximize his valuable time. I pee'd this far.

    Hence, learning curve.
  9. Bug Reports and Player Feedback

It seems to happen irregardless of the Marshalls army size. Though today it took the cake, when in Yarogleks infinite wisdom, he appointed Ralcha as Marshal during a multiwar front, moments after said lord was defeated. The entire Vaegir army followed their "glorious" leader and his nine stalwart companions (conscripts/recruits) as he raced and blinding speed (7.1-ish) around the map not dealing with any problems, but getting there really quickly, only to fire off like a bullet for some other village being raided by 20 or 30 losers.

And this isn't technically a bug I suppose, but losing a quest because a fast quest bandit is caught by a patrol or circle of lords, even though I join the battle, is quite frustrating. Its either take the smackdown in relationship or smash alt f4 and reload.
  10. How to recruit Nobles and Elites?

(i.e. not quest npcs or lords)

MUHAHAHAHAHAHA. I have CheeseRustlers on my team. Its taken weeks, monthes, but now its worked! They are my personal bodyguard, defending me with couched lances whilst I batteringram my way throw mobs of pajama wearing Sarranids and other paperdoll like troops! Epic. Must be a new glitch, and by glitch I mean super awesome feature.
  11. New character starting kits for NE

Pathfinding.... Why dont you find companions first? I race around as party of idlers until I get a tracker, healer, Bashetur (He was ridiculously hard to find after last savegame break), and one or two knight class companions. No point dragging around a bunch of raw recruits if you can't train, heal or lead them anywhere quickly.
  12. Spears are ineffective and nobody uses them.

The ability to hold shield and stab simutaneously with a light (no swing) but sharp spear (or estroq) would make an infantry commander more viable. Dance Stab Sidestep Stab Stab Rinse Repeat. At the very least I would be tempted to step down from my horse every once inawhile without total fear of those ridiculous triangles of men with the whirling blades flying through each other flailing me to death, giving me a chance at survival while most of my troops are flying across the map to make sure routed enemies are truely routed. Also I could play out some fantasies I had during Total War days

(I also love Geroian swords, even just temporarily. Really ups your skill on horseback, forcing you to come in close and not rely on weapon length alone. That, and its brutal calv. vs calv.)

  13. Player Suggestions and Feature Discussion

This is part rant, part suggestion, part stab at the general diplomacy of Vanilla.

I'm tired of starting a faction, only the be inundated with every loser on the map. I can't even find my own lords half the time during a feast/etc, because atleast 20 of these bottomfeeders wants to join my kingdom. If I have negative relations with someone, why the hell would I be ready to sign them up and give them lands? I can't remember anyone I'm on good to excellent terms with petitioning me. Its even more infuriating when they bring their men with them, claim vassalage without consent, then proceed to warm a particular section of the map until I dismiss them, as they generally are at the head of a deadly crew of Swadian children or the terrible maprats called Khergits. I never built an overdressed bronze statue asking for the poor tired and hungry.

In terms on general suggestions, I can't think of anything specific but for a game that seems intended for long term playability, well over half of the effort the Vanilla team put in went into hack and slash combat. There isn't anything that changes. Every outcome is known after the first character is over. Marriage (useful marriage), divorce, rebellions (self-initiating, claimants is a joke), peasant uprisings, religion, culture, so many overlooked aspects. (Some of that has been addressed in NE). Reminds me of a hybrid between Diablo and Total War, but without really coming out with what it wants to be or providing anything beyond the ability to pretend for a few minutes that your in a medieval setting. There's also the ever present feeling that things aren't the same for you as they are for anyone else on the map. In general the game reminds me of Lego men. Sure, they have hands, but where are the fingers. Elbowless arms, kneeless legs. Cuckolded at every step.
  14. Bug Reports and Player Feedback

I've gotten "Track down Jarl Reamald" instead of Troublesome Bandits, with the quest failing as soon as I left the town menu. Also going into tournaments with whatever health I had when I signed up is kind of annoying but usually not an issue (for myself that is  ).

Been noticing archers aren't being placed anywheres in particular on castles as before, or if they are, everyone mobs for the ladder. Ridiculous to watch your top tier archers either melee, or stand just close enough not to pull out their bows. Also makes assaults frustrating, with most of the defending archers hiding behind others shields, something my men haven't mastered yet.

On that note, a "Ten Archers Hold position here" command would be epic. As it is now, I tend to pull top tier troops out of the fight to defend a staircase, position archers on the ground and make a killing zone on the wall. Helps in defending Wercheg, which has always been a joke and a slaughterground for the defenders. Like all Nord cities. Apparently the ability to build a metropolis out of sticks wasen't just a fancy of the Japanese...

On a different topic, it would be interesting if the Marshall was perhaps, aggressive? Riding to the defence of a city, only to watch everyone play this ridiculous dance of rushing at each other only to break and run before contact is infuriating. It typically ends with the reinforcements engaging in a few skirmishes while the Marshall has gone to check that his castle hasen't grown legs and walked into the ocean.
  15. Trade rights?

It does nothing but give one of you companions a good weeklong vacation. Trade routes are strengthened by clearing out mercenaries, bandits and defending caravans as far as I know. Side note, recruit troops. Lots of em. Not Swadians.

You're in the centre of a map, surrounded by factions that all claim Dhirim. Have fun  : D
  16. guns

I've had crossbowmen make a blasting noise when firing. Its pretty wicked but highly ineffectual.
  17. Player Suggestions and Feature Discussion

You know, theres one feature I've always wanted. Something I've been craving since I started with M&B. Some kind of yell function. I want a button that tells the idiot blocking me to make way for his lord and savior, the man who signs his paycheck, feeds and protects him and generally takes care of his needs and well being. I dont care if he has to jump off the side of a ladder. Get out of my way.
  18. Bug Reports and Player Feedback

This could just be me, but my nord (possibly others, dont know) troop tree's are backwards. High end troops come out first and I was upgrading to lower levels until I caught it.
  19. NE Troop Trees and Troop Rebalancing - Updated 1/7/12

Seconded. I feel like I'm running into an army of one hit kill storm troopers. I watched (yes watched. ive never flown a zero or plan on trying) 700 rhodoks fall to 130  (7 casualties). You can soften them up some, but so far I see no benefits in attacking them other than the irresistable urge to slaughter all my high end troops.
  20. Secret Doors

They lack the will raise themselves up 12 inch steps. Was just coming to post Durquba.
