Halfdan is in a loop where he leaves Lundenwic and travels either West or North. At a certain point he teleports back to the city and this cancels the quest, meaning I have less than 15-30s to buy the cattle and walk it to the encampment before the quest is canceled. That's the issue that needs to be fixed.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, nothing I've done has made the quest succeed. Tried having them follow me up to the camp, tried telling them to stop outside the camp, tried telling them to stop inside the camp. Nothing happens.

Yep. Halfdan is in a loop where he teleports back to Lundenwic with the quest being canceled.
Why they give you a required quest (and rather pointless one) where you have to know the bug beforehand and use multiple teleport cheats to get around it is beyond me.

You have to walk the cattle literally into his camp. Its not you who has to walk in, its the cattle.

no, because I only have 15s to complete the quest? Halfdan gives me the quest then he begins walking north and then he teleports back to Lundenwic. When he teleports back to Lundenwic the quest is now canceled. There is no way for me to collect 12 cattle, magically know whether he is going north or west and then make the cattle line up with his party in the 15s the quest gives me to 1. buy the cattle and 2. run back and bring it to him.

At no point is he standing still and I have to walk the cattle from 4x the distance he travels before the quest is automatically canceled. This is possibly the most idiotic thing ever. He isn't even going to the encampment, he is traveling to Edinburgh.

COuld you send me your savegame (previus get cattle quest), this is working on our testing. I need to see that players are doing different.

He isn't camping, he is in an endless loop where he exits the town, walks a little west or north, then respawns back there with the quest being canceled.

Same here. It happened when I was attacking renegades from Northymbyre but also when defending my village from enemy lords.

It is happening to me as well but with my medic companion and his bodyguard.
Also, all my troops were put under infantry in battle after the patch. They're still split in the army tab, though.

People said this would fix it:
    reach a town and/or a village

    -talk to people in the town/village

    -talk to your own soldiers

    -talk to people in the mead hall

    -by food and/or other items

but it didn't work for me. I've loaded previous saves and tried everything (even kicking my companions out of my party, but they still talk to me lmao?) but nothing works. Game is unplayable because of this impassive and inevitable bug.
