    The only scheduling conflict I see is on Thursday. I will, unfortunately, not be able to come to training at 8:00 PM Eastern (during university terms, anyway). I can come to the line battles, though, as well as possibly other training times you might have.

    There's only one thing I'm unclear about: are you a European-only regiment, or do you participate in the US events also? If you only do European, I will try to make as many events as I can, but I am American.
  4. Dismounting Cavalry is Ridiculous

    I don't know about killing infantry with sword cav (whenever I play that, I usually rely on sneak attacks or killing people who are distracted by melee), but I play lancer and can easily kill a skilled, aware infantry player 1v1. I just go in, slow down at the last second, and turn left as the lance is at its maximum extent.

    Now, there are some tricks infantry can pull that work well: the best one is to use ~ to watch the cav player while walking in the opposite direction, then spin around and stab him with the bayonet as he comes in for the "easy kill", but that can be countered if you're expecting it. And, of course, infantry can just block down, but if they try that I usually come back around for a couch (although a skilled player should be able to tell whether a cav is making a stab pass or a couch pass). Trying to jump in front of the horse only works to stop couches; it's an easy kill when you're going for a stab.

    However, the best way for an infantry player to defend himself is to get in good defensive territory: it's very hard to lance someone in a narrow alleyway, and almost impossible if he's got someone helping him. So in a city or a close group of buildings, infantry definitely has the advantage 1v1. But the worst thing for cav, if we don't restrict ourselves to melee, is the guns. A loaded gun is the best defense against cav: if you are any good at aiming, you can kill a cav coming in for a lance every single time. The problem (for infantry) is that they get impatient and try to shoot while I circle at a distance, waiting for them to do just that before coming in for the kill.

    I don't claim to be a master player, but I usually top the charts or come very close as lancer, getting around 2:1 in TDM. Most of the times I die, it's either because (in order) I a) got shot, b) got my horse shot and got stabbed on the ground, c) misjudge the timing, d) get reckless while trying to kill someone who looks oblivious or who is reloading, or e) make an unwise tactical maneuver like charging into a dense group of enemies.

    Amnar is right. Most reasonable people ran away when it became apparent that they were going to die to a bayonet charge. The difference is that in NW, people have no incentive to preserve their lives.

    If you ask a lord for someone's location, the choices are all in terms of how those people feel about each other. For example, instead of showing "Boyar Bracha" as a choice, it says "Boyar Bracha thinks highly of you".

    Also, I sent Ymira on a mission to spread the word about my rule, in which she was supposed to say that I would protect merchants' rights, but Odval complained about Ghazwan (who I have not recruited) saying something about getting orphans off the streets and how she wouldn't be able to cheat in tournaments.

    Whenever someone leaves and wants to rejoin the party, I get script errors. Something about "consequences".

    Sometimes (I think it may have to do with them retreating because I turned them on Skirmish mode) I get an after battle report saying that a large number of my horse archers have died, when they are perfectly fine.

    With regard to Bug 118 (invisible olives) some of the textures on items are much darker than Native, including olives. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it was like this in 2.4. I would like it if these could be their regular colors, instead of greyed out (especially olives, which are quite difficult to see).

    A pretty serious error in the Expanded Troop Tree: the H5 Amazon Sword Sisters, supposed to be Horse Archers, carry Self Bows, which can't be used on horseback, so they charge into melee and get wiped out.

    Also, both allied and enemy lords don't seem to be putting their standards on their troops' shields and armor. All I'm getting is the Red and Black design of a player allied with no faction. In connection with this, whenever I join battle on the side of someone else, I get to command his troops.

    I agree that the bandit groups look too much like uniformed armies. Since they're all the same kind of unit, they actually look even more uniformed than the lords' armies.

    My game just crashed because of the "Can't load Viking textures" bug.

    I was raiding a Nord village, and I got attacked by a Nord lord defending his village, and the game crashed when the battle loaded.

    I am also getting the inflated Archery stats, although it seems like it has a point where it really skips ahead: I was going along fine, until one battle I noticed that my crosshair was not expanding, then I checked and I had 1000 in Archery and 820 in Crossbow (which I wasn't even using). Kinda takes the fun out of it to kill everything in one hit at full speed from horseback. :grin:

    Also, the Feathered Highlander Cap intersects the head when worn, for some reason. Might want to fix that.

    On the topic of the "glow in the dark armor" that Rokem mentioned: there are several textures in the game that look REALLY bad, notably the quilted armor that Rokem took a screenshot of, but also the quiver for "Black Arrows", and a few other outfits for the Sarranids that are way too bright and have very little detail. They really stand out. Also, the armor the looters wear doesn't look too good, either. Not in the "I don't like the color" sense, but in the "this looks totally fake" sense. I think these textures should either be fixed or replaced with something else.

    Also, somewhat hilariously, the textures for Sarranid Arrows and their quivers are reversed, meaning troops wear a single arrow and fire quivers full of arrows! It looks very funny after a siege, with quivers sticking out of the walls.

    Can someone confirm whether women from the Sword Sister upgrade line are still able to recruiting in taverns? I haven't seen any yet. While I don't think it's realistic to have tons of women mercenaries wandering around, there doesn't seem to be any way to recruit "Refugee" women or any or the troops they upgrade into. (I have been training female horse archers by knocking out peasant women farmers and recruiting them to my party.)
  15. Dev Diary Feedback: Tournament Enhancements

    I just wish it were possible to have an elimination-based tournament, instead of everyone being around until the end.

    Maybe have an option for survival-based elimination (similar to Native) or points-based elimination, where a set number of people are allowed to pass on each round, and these positions are filled in order of points (calculated as now)? For example, say 4 people are allowed to pass on after a certain round, and so the guys who score 1st through 4th place in points make it, while everyone else is out, even if he survived the match.

    I just find it much more satisfying to whittle everyone down until it's only me vs. the last guy, rather than fight-fight-fight-sorry, your "frag count" wasn't high enough.

    Also, I do like how, in Native, the allowed classes are determined based on the area. So, Khergit tournaments are all cavalry, while Nord tournaments don't have any. I don't know if this is possible, but it would be interesting if you could require players (optionally) to ride a horse in Khergit tournaments and prevent it in certain other areas, and to have the AI follow the same rules.

    Surprisingly enough, the mod now works when I use the right version.  :grin:

    However, I tried to sign up as a freelancer in a Sarranid lord's army (as a female character, if that's relevant), and when I did, it had me "battle" him over and over with him on my side. It kept giving me 50 renown each time for "winning", but I had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete out of the game because it did this over and over, with no opportunity to "retreat".

    Also, the description for "religious fervor" as a reason for adventuring is the text for squires. Also, the text for lady-in-waiting is for squires. It would also be nice to easily tell what each option does and what weapons it gives.
