  1. AI has a small flaw.

A variation on the trick is to use archers instead of footmen, kite the melee blob in circles while your archers unload. Then, switch to footmen as you'll out-health them AND out-think them. In the event that one of the enemy does get smart and split off, he likely has an arrow in his back already.

Edit: and to get tricky, put 3-4 horse archers on follow while you kite them (always firing to the left!). Any more than that and the horses tend to want to charge the foot blob and get cut down.
  2. Main Website - IP Banned?!

While it is possible that Taleworlds has banned your IP, it is much more likely that the connection you're using (it sounds like it is your school's?) has banned the Taleworlds website.

It would be interesting to know if you can get to the website from a different connection; wireless at the coffee shop or somesuch.
  3. Jerky overland map

    Kelrahn 说:
Whenever on the overland map my fps seems fine, but every second or two it freezes for a split second; it makes turning the camera/travelling quite arduous.

It doesnt matter if i have the graphics settings on lowest or highest, it seems to do it no matter what. And it never happens during battle, only on the map.

I know there isnt really any support for specific mods here, but it seems to happen MUCH more while i play the mod "1257" but also once in a while during Native.

    Anyone have the same problem?

    Windows 7 64-bit
    Nvidia geforce GT 240
    2gb RAM

It sounds like a cpu based issue, as the 1257 mod has many more factions and thus many more decisions to make. Make sure you have _everything_ else shut down in the background, antivirus especially. Use task manager and google the program names if you have to; services running can also make a cpu hit.
  4. High PC and Low Performance, why?

The estimated performance number in the video options dialog is "of maximum", ie the lowest settings/most performance.

You can see it work by selecting the Low preset, see it at 100% and then select the Very High preset and see it at ~60%. A lower number means a nicer visual experience but less performance.

The number has no connection to your system's performance.
Edit: Other than to be set lower by the autotune on higher-end systems.

  6. How to start tournament in my own city?

Hold a feast - right after the first lord shows up, look at the town menu. You should have a tournament.

I suspect it is a bug, but if you complete the tournament and then wait for the NEXT lord to show up, you can run the tourney again. And again for each new lord. I believe this works even when you're not the one holding the feast.
  7. Increasing faction relations

one thing you could do is try to help them in fights against bandits. which will increase the relation with said lord and a small increase in faction relations

Helping them with any fight = positive relations with faction and lord. If you're the assistor, you don't get any negative rep hit with the target, either. And if there is more than one "enemy" lord, you might be given the chance to release him for a rep and honor gain.

Ergo, always, always assist the side you think is going to win if you have the time. The risk-free relationship gains are worth it in the long run.

  9. How do reinforcement waves work?

The version I of TweakMB I originally downloaded was 1.80; it didn't have the reinforcement waves # in it. I updated to 2.00 and they were set to 5 and 7 - I changed them to 99 and 99 and now have great fun in sieges.
  10. How to make bows accurate again?

    orbitup 说:
It does seem impossible to 'head shot' a guy with his shield up in WB, not so in vanilla. You can still shoot him in the legs though.

The 'Shield' skill can increase the size of the shield beyond its model so even though you can see their head, you can't actually hit it. The solution is to be on higher ground than they are so you can fire over the top of the 'bigger' shield. Alternately, you can wait for one of your archers to hit the shield and then try and sneak a shot in while it drops. Hitting the legs also works but will do the least amount of damage (but more than a shield hit!).
  11. Coping with 1.113 Kingdom Management Bugs

Don't ask about 'who should be marshal' to any of your lords, as there's a bug with recognizing that you've assigned a marshal. assigning it works, but no one realizes you've done it so you won't be able to ask their opinions on who should get the next fief, which is a big part of keeping them all happy.

Edit: And ofc assign marshal to someone else when you want to have a feast. I wrote about using this bug to your advantage here - http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,116532.msg2808243.html.

  14. The Sieges of Comedy

After spending several frustrating hours watching the comedy that is Mount and Blade siege battles, I came up with names for some of the fools and thought I'd share. flounders - guys who run around at the base of the castle wall under the ladder, usually with their weapons drawn at the wall...
  15. How do you release anger? Help needed.

It helps me to listen to angry music while exerting myself when I am mad.

Jumping up and down, running, punching appropriate inanimate objects, working out, screaming. I find that I tend to make too many mistakes while mad to make video games feel worthwhile and they feel 'fake' somehow, like I'm not really letting the aggression and violence out.

If it is a recurring problem, martial arts is amazing and awesome for anger management. It teaches you control in ways that nothing else can, both how and why. I cannot recommend it high enough. Find something cheap and easy to go to, even at your local YMCA, and sign your ass up. You'll be in shape, hot, and in control.

I'm sure there are some who will disagree, but some rap also helps - Today was a Good Day comes to mind. Music really is central to helping me manage my emotions.

    Good luck.

Just one more thing: Can you change the actions of your troops before a battle`s begin? My cavalry is storming forward and I would prefer my troops to just stand there and wait for my charge-command without having to explicitly whistle them back every time?

Not in the game. There are several mods out there that change this behavior, for example I know Litus orders a 'Everyone, hold position; Infantry, advance 10 paces; Cavalry, retreat 10 paces' at the beginning of each battle so you end up with them standing still in 3 seperate lines, infantry, archers, cavalry.

Edit: and since the mods can do it, I assume you, as a player, can modify something to get the same behavior with going to a mod. I have no idea where or how, though.

Alternately, in the original MnB you could find their rival, who would pay a smaller ransom for them. I haven't tried it in Warband though.

man, I played the original for years and I never knew that

The most difficult thing was figuring out who the rival was. Basically, he says something like 'Oh, I see you have Count Clais there. I'll take him off your hands for...' I can't remember if there was any honour/relationship changes. I'd like to see the ability to go to family members of your prisoners for ransoms too, maybe less than if the king paid, and with the risk they'll try to attack instead, but the prospect of instant cash if you can find your prisoners father/brother/son.

Selling to their rivals does work in Warband; I sold several swadian nobles to rhodok nobles this way.
  18. Marshal Garrison Problem

The Litus mod allows you to build a barracks in villages which will trickle troops into the fief. It also allows you to one-time garrison the fief, if start the siege, immediately after taking it. However, you will lose those troops after leaving the fief and won't get them back if someone else gets the fief from the king.

Alternately, you can tell one of the lords you are with to patrol around the new fief, which will usually scare off any but the most determined attackers.

I agree that this solution has merit - however the archers only have so many arrows, after which they are useless.

I've read that archers and xbow gets resupplied with ammo at a set time intervall.
    CounterPoint391 说:
TweakMB has an option where you can increase the amount of reinforcement waves (default is like 5 for attacker and 7 for defender during a siege).....

    bigtoebubby 说:
otherwise change how you use them to be more effective.

I agree that this solution has merit - however the archers only have so many arrows, after which they are useless. I can achieve 5 and 6:1 kill ratios, but after that, I just run out of ammo. All while most of the army, including my own troops, never enters the siege map.

In conclusion, the only use I can see for the campaign group is to even the odds while fighting in the field. Even then, the merit is questionable, would I like 30 peasants and 10 knights or would I like just 10 knights? They're the same when commanded, so the 10 knights ends up winning because the 30 peasants takes up one of the limited reinforcement waves.

Which I feel is dumb. Anyhow, I've learned my lesson, I think - do not bring large armies to sieges.
