  1. ending faction defections ?

    A 3rd party program.
  2. Impossible to take castles?

Get much more renown, that will give you more max number of troops. Also, Leadership skill points.

Don't charge heafirst into the castle. Order your troops stand ground, with the infantry and cavalry in front of the archers to soak arrows. Once the archers run out of arrows, then you can charge. Or retreat, if there still are maqny enemies. Then you go in again with your arrows replenished. Rinse and repeat until it's safe enough to charge to melee.
  3. Horse archers out there?

Alright I can get why you might not use horseback bows, but swords instead of spears (yes, spear, not lance. that thing is horribly slow)? That's just wanting to gimp yourself. Spears are awesome, always thurst, deal tons of damage and strike really fast. My prefered this far is the balanced long awlpike, but have to try the light lance yet.

Currently I'm trying the heavy hafted mace and finding it awesome. Polearm-reach with blunt damage and always thrusts on horseback? Sign me in. The only downside is the reduced damage, but it doesn't stop it from knocking out tier 2+ archers in one good hit.
  4. Horse archers out there?

I play a horse archer, but in native and only singleplayer. Honestly I surprise myself a lot of times with how good I've become at calculating distances and volleys, specially when it's against fast moving targets (other horse archers).

Before I started reading up the forums I didn't even thought this game could be played any other way. Killing peopel with a spear or a sword is sooo slow and anoying with your own troops getting in the way all the gd time...
  5. Decreasing relations after giving a fief to a lord

Lords that are good-natured or upstanding don't lose relations when the fief you award doesn't go to them or a friend/family member, as long as you captured the castle yourself.
  6. What fiefs are you giving to lords and which ones you are keeping?

I think I'm just going to let them rebel and retake their castles by force afterwards. I have enough good-natured and upstanding lords already.
  7. What fiefs are you giving to lords and which ones you are keeping?

My martial lords seem to lose 2 relation points every time I give a fief to somebody else.
  8. Which city to start my own faction?

I took Wercheg, but apparently even the rhodoks found enough time to come sack my villages.
  9. Caught the king, what now?

In Silverstag mod you can force peace if you capture the enemy king, perfect after you take lots of castles but are stretched thin with your armies, one of the best features

    Is that included in Diplomacy?
  10. What fiefs are you giving to lords and which ones you are keeping?

Maybe you don't need 300 soldiers in your castle then.
  11. What fiefs are you giving to lords and which ones you are keeping?

I'm very interested in this too. I've been googling it in the last days but didn't come up to any conclusion. Obviously I keep all the towns for myself, but since I only have one town right now, I don't know what else to keep.

Villages are just a PITA to defend and don't give that much money.
Castles require you putting troops in them, which you have to pay for and is generally a waste of resources. Also they are tied to the prosperity of the associated village, so if the village goes under you are doing it too.
  12. I accidently made a ton of people a vassal and now they all hate me.

Nah, let them start defecting. Try to find out which ones have good personality traits (upstanding and good-natured, and martial to a lesser extent). If you have Diplomacy installed it should be easy, talking to your chancellor to find out about the lords of your real. Ifyou don't then just talk to them and try to find out if they seem good people or not.

Once you have them pinpointed (it's possible that you have only 2 or 3 out of those 20, since the good lords take much more convincing to defect from their usual kingdom), make sure to award them the few fiefs. Ignore the bad-tempered lords. They can go if they want. They'll have served their pourpose of being a meatshield until then.
  13. NPC vassal skills

Consideringthe the ratio of villagers that get killed by villagers in any village liberation battle, I don't think your healing skills affect anybody that isn't specifically inside your own party.
  14. Just got a village, now what?

IIRC you can tell a lord to "ther's a city that can be easily be taken. Go to ...". And as long as you get there first and start the siege, they'll help.
