  1. Companions suck in this game.

    I geared all my companions with guns and they are quite good at it. Just dont use them as cavalry, they will just die.

    Other than that you are pretty much spot on. I can buy one good armor piece for my companion or I can upgrade my marksman mercenaries to the teeth with best armor and guns for the same cost.

    Oh, you mean this. Yes that is a great idea, actually it should be programmable - you hold the shield, then press a button, pavise is now deployed - stationary shield in front of you, you can use it as a cover while shooting. Then you can pick it up and use it as normal slow shield.

    This = slightly modded Rhodoks, try some mods out there, some adds heavy foot infantry to Rhodoks, you will like it.

    I would like to see a medieval chinese/(korean ?)/japanese faction.
    A lot of low level peasants with polearms/hafted swords.
    Some elite warrior/samurai troops.
    Cheap but proficient crossbow troops - chu ko nu - not sharpshooters, armed with a fast firing crossbows using a cloud of death strategy.
    Combination of heavy/light horses.
    A lot of flags.
    Also some early firearms and some early artillery, nothing too oped.
    Something like a army from Hero movie.

    Second one - Conquistardors - sophisticated raiders from far away continent.
    Relatively costly elite units.
    Advanced plate armor, but some units already discarded armor as obsolete piece of equipment, same goes for shields.
    Strategy - firearms and pikemen - shooters are defending the tercio sides while the pikemen go through anything before them.
    Some heavy armored cavalry and cavalry shooters.
    This faction will demand some micromanaging to really shine.

    I have some questions:
    1)Are changes in 0.5.3 savegame compatible (my version is 0.4.6)?
    2)What version of files are you using? I have found some bugs ingame that were solved in later versions (ie. the two pages income bug, no choices if the king refuse to give you conquered fief)
    It would be nice if you can update the files (If it is possible, I know that the module system is 1.05 but I dont know if you are using it)

    Great Work here!
    Actually I find this mod to be the most fun of all released WB mods. I think you should have this topic moved, I have found this mod by mistake :smile:. So in mods directory, more people will find it and have fun with it. It would be nice if you could upload this mod to MB repository.

    Great mod!
    I have found some problems, hope that helps.
    1. When you choose to be a member of a kingdom at the start, for recruiting you are still counted as merc - you can only recruit merc units from castles instead of that faction units.
    2. Some villages have floating buildings, namely Cambridge and a village you get if you start as France. Also when defending them against bandits, the game crashes.
    3. The game needs more blunting weapons. There are three or so types, but with nearly same stats, some progression would be nice.

    I really like those knight companions, but I think Friedrich lost his original barded horse in version 0.7. I think he had a same horse like Lionel, only with his colors.

    Also I have switched to Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and the mod is more stable now (maybe due to cool bug hunting).
  10. Good reason to play infantry factions in SP?

    Imo, I played most of original MB as cavalry leader, now with WB I tried some infantry + archery and I found them more fun. Cavalry charges are fun and stuff, but there is no tactics, practically no needed terrain awareness. Playing as infantry you need to think more about battles, terrain..... Also if you are careful, enemy cavalry isnt that deadly.

    But to solve this issue I would add some kind of food for horses. No food - dismounted knights. Or more depth for horses - you can buy more for units (only troops trained for mounted combat can use them, but you can have some in reserve, I dont mean Mounted Husscarls), you can eat them :smile: pr something like that.

    Great mod and work.
    It adds missing units to all factions (ie cavalry for Nords) that makes the game and combat more interesting and balanced. My only issue is that after some time and big battles, the lords armies will have only small number of elite units, while I can have many (like 40). And units like Ritterbruders or Mounted Huscarl will then rout any opposition.
  13. -65k Denars lost due to tax inefficiency. Seriously.

    My opinion is that it should progressively increase. The bigger kingdom the bigger penalty. But I think that it is too big right now, I have two castles, one city and like 5 villages and more than half of my income takes penalty. Yep, I have a lot of land, but it is all connected, so I should be able to manage my fiefs without penalty. I have Fenada, Ismirala castle + village, Curaw + Bazeck and Mazen+ one village + Radoghir castle + Sumbuja. If you look at the map, my fiefs form a nice blob, so they should be manageable.

    Also there is one problem with this penalty. When you are a vassal and your kingdom is dominating, you will get a lot of fiefs. But as a vassals you dont have any way (imo) to give land to someone. So king will reward you, but your net income may even decrease. So as vassal this problem is even bigger.
  14. Does anyone else find the courtship process kind of boring?

    Btw, positive score with would-be bride is not enough, you have to also be friend with her father. This way I didnt have any problems yet.
  15. Horses on loot screen?

    I tried some battles against deserters, bandits and faction armies with looting skill at 15 (tweaked). And I can say that loot was same as with skill at 5 or so.
  16. Marriage - RtR gain tied to the political position of bride?

    As topic says, is there any reason to try to get married with lady from big or high renown family? More Right to rule?
  17. Best infatry army setup

    After playing as Sarranids and then Swadians, I am bored. So I will try to start only foot campaign. I am pretty sure that for melee the Nords are the best. Against cavalry, it is tough luck, but i ahve found that Nord throwing slaughter horses, and Huscarls are then able to chop those knights...

    Tried to pump my looting to 15 (some tweaks). Still got same rusty byrnies and such at max, even from king army or entire campaign.

    Actually I think the easiest way for me is to be vassal, get some fiefs and garrisons, then get married, assemble army, then renounce oath but dont keep fiefs and then capture some forgotten keep and start form there. I tried  to be a good vassal, I had like 3 castles, 2 cities and 6 villages, but in the end, my kingdom was all over map - defense nightmare.

    Next game - I have chosen Nords, and after getting some renown, I will marry and start my kingdom somewhere in the forests.

    This is good to hear, but on the other hand, you can see ingame that even the lords with only one village have armies with 80+ men. Also every computer controlled castle have 100+ garrison and the controller also has an army of 80+ heads..... Something is not ok with our incomes.

    To support my claim - sometimes, king will give you castle with garrison. Last time, I was given a garrison of 320 men. So the king clearly thinks that I should be able to keep them with my four villages and one city. But the game doesnt think so, unfortunately, bleeding me 4k every week. On the other hand, all enemies have only burning villages now....
