Why not go to extreme then?
Why not remove all graphics, let's just fight with lines and squares and triangles? It means developers will have much more time to code 'new ways to kill triangles and squares'.
Sorry but, graphics is needed for immersion, and without immersion you can have the best code of killing somebody - no one is going to play it. If my weapon looked like a a bit wider black line, the game could have 1000 super-cool ways of killing someone - it wouldn't be of any use because it would be dull and I could not get into it. And neither would you! There's a reason why you see Trebuchet in singleplayer. It has no purpose whatsoever other than immersion.
Stuff like gray hair is trivially easy to implement, and as someone say, it will make people look more unique on the battlefield and not everyone being the same looking bot.
ps: Just to make it clear, I'm not much into graphics and I have old PC who couldn't even run the game if it had much better graphics. But this isn't about quality graphics, it's about having an 'object' in the game. And also, some of you would obviously be satisfied if every castle and town in the game was the same. I wouldn't. I want more unique things. Castles and towns as far as I care don't need to have super graphics or I dunno what, but some unique level needs to exist instead of copy paste.
