    Yup, it works!!  Just go to Fileshack and search for the Mount and Blade Warband Trial v. 1.132.  After you download it, you have to make sure you nab the serial code from your steam installation before you delete the local content, THEN delete your steam installation of Mount and Blade: Warband.  After that, it's a simple matter of doing as he says with the activation bit and then installing the mod!

    ah wait, I may have found a source.  If what you say is true about it finding the reg. key, there's a demo version of Mount and Blade Warband over at Fileshack that's only at 1.132 yet.  Let's try that!

    That's the thing though, their trial download provides you with the latest version, 1.134, and we need an older version that we can patch to 1.132.

    AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!  I just found out about this amazing mod but my dumb steam version of Warband auto-patched to 1.134, and I won't be able to play it by the time the 6th rolls around.

    I did end up doing that and luckily that saved the savegame for me, but I am still curious why the mod wouldn't work -- could it possibly have something to do with steam?

    I downloaded and went through the simple install for this mod just now, and, as with most mods, it seems to require some fiddling around to make it work.  It gives me an error message when I try to load my savegame, telling me that it's invalid because there's an invalid numbers of items: 601...

    For some reason, when I attempt to start up the game after installing this mod, it gives me an error message when it tries to load my save, telling me that the item number 601 is invalid or somesuch.  Any ideas on what this could mean and how I could fix it?  Thanks.

    Or here, I slightly misquoted the error message, instead, it tells me that, "there are an invalid number of item kinds: 601"
