    No, I never made the claimant king and in fact the claimant is gone forever after cancelling the quest. I really am the king. I can assign fiefs via my minister at the castle, and when I convince other lords to join me, they speak about me, not the claimant.
    The only thing that's missing is being able to rename the kingdom.

    If I give up the rebellion then the claimant disappears and I get my own kingdom which is still named "Swadian Rebels" which kind of makes sense at first but even after I defeat Swadia and they are entirely gone, my kingdom is still just Swadian Rebels and I never get the kingdom naming screen...

    Community is already waaaaaaay fragmented over options, and there's already too much information to wade through to see if a server has x,y,z options set that I care about. Something this minor doesn't deserve a server option. There's already enough options that I have to play basically a completely different game whenever I switch servers

    Those quests are great if he asks for the troops you normally use anyway. That way you don't have to train anyone, just hand over some soldiers for an instant relation boost and a little money.
    The crappy lord quests are the "capture 4 Nord Veterans" when all your troops don't have blunt weapons.

    I do this all the time. I never surrender "for real" though because it is never beneficial.

    They finally started fixing typos too. Not all are gone however. I figured that once they got around to such low-priority stuff that would mean the game is finally "ready", although a few issues seem to persist.

    The changes, for the most part, were done for multiplayer balance. IMO they are not so good for single player, but they had to bring those changes back to single player anyway because having two sets of combat mechanics would be confusing and lame

    I don't think it's possible. What probably happened was that there was a thin polearm handle or arrow sticking out somewhere, and the end of it just barely peeked into your 'activation' range while you were moving. It can happen even if the item is visually obscured by enemies.

    Too big of a change to try to implement and balance now, and it wouldn't add enough to the gameplay to be worth it

    Yep, and now that it isn't possible anymore, at least not in its canonical form, due to the turn rate limit since 1.125, new players won't ever see it and it will become the stuff of unverifiable exaggeration

    Anyone using a Wireless USB NIC (-not- wireless internet) with Warband?

    It may not be just the fault of the wireless. I remember back in the day, when many computers still didn't have onboard ethernet (mine included), I was going to a LAN party and picked up a wired USB NIC -- and it gave me nearly Dialup-internet-level ping on the LAN. Fortunately I haven't had to network over USB in a long time.
