Hoe zijn jullie hier terecht gekomen?

Ik via een ander forum waar Mount and Blade aangeprezen werd als geldig alternatief voor Oblivion. Ze hebben wel gelijk gekregen hoor!

I agree with hayate666. It would be fun to be a bandit thair towns would be in their native habitat  like forests for forest bandits and similar. Then you could rob neutral caravans. It'd be fun

You need to be able to hire them from their own taverns of course. But actual towns seem a bit unfitting for roaming bandits. Maybe something more along the lines of a wagon camp? Maybe there can be a prospering trade in slaves or hostages. It could mean a more lucrative use of the prisoner management skill. Ransoming soldiers/nobles/caravan masters should make twice the amount of selling them as slaves.

    Aiming bug? ...Horrible accuracy.

    Duckling 说:
There have been a lot of discussion concerning the crosshair in 1st and 3rd person modes. In the short, there's something wrong with the crosshair or at least many claims there is. Personally I haven't notice any problems with the crosshair.
If you fire from a long distance isn't it obious you have to aim higher than the target? Arrows won't fly straight to the target anyway...
And if you are speaking a very short distance... Well just aim a little higher again:smile:
Aiming a little higher does indeed compensate for it, but it just doesn't change the fact that the alignment is off. I believe I can safely say that after one or two shots anyone should be able to distinguish that fact, but it doesn't make the cursor any better aligned. In .751, the arrow would fly straight through the little dot in the middle and THEN drop, not before it had passed there. The bug is minor in a way, meaning that it is rather easy to compensate for it, but it doesn't make it any less of a (very annoying) bug.

3rd person reticule is still off with crossbows.  In first person at point blank it is dead on.  In third person at point blank aiming at the top of Hareks bald head hits him in the upper chest.  Bows also off so I would assume all missile weapons are off.

    Bogatyr confirms.

Noticed this long time ago. Aiming with shift pressed helps.
Helps, but doesn´t fix it. I´ve noticed too.

    Robbing: yes I searched

Why not something more along the lines of highwaymen? It means you can rob anybody you want and become allied with all bandit types (moutain, forest, pirates and sea raiders) while being at war with vaegirs, swadians, manhunters and peasants. Maybe there can be some kind of quest progression in it. Some kind of bandit king or something?

    Running out of ammo....PERMANENTLY

Didn't bother reading the entire 2nd page, but I'd like to comment on something Merentha said earlier about arrows "regenerating" over time.

This would in fact be perfect, in my opinion. It makes plenty of sense, seeing as how an arrow shaft would break, but an arrow head might just get a bit deformed from the impact, and that can be fixed by filing it down a bit (I'm guessing here, correct me if I'm wrong).

This way, if you were forced to fight 2 battles in quick succession, your arrow supply would be smaller in the second battle, since you didn't have time to replenish your stock.

This method of implementation is basically just a compromise between permanent arrow loss and the current system.
This idea sounds rather nice actually. I like it!

But at low level I found that I can take out any opponent via hacking at it far easier, that's all. Even at close range. At difficulty of full damage/medium AI btw if it matters. By "learning more" what do you mean guys, learn how to play archery, or simply improve the character? I think the second, because arrows going everywhere cannot be overcome by mouse-handling. But in that case we don't compare a beginner melee to beginner archer ability, but again, the advanced melee to advanced archer, or worse; beginner melee to advanced archer. And that's not what I'm talking about here.

This is a very good point. The fact that it cannot be overcome with better mouse handling at lower levels is what´s most annoying to me.

aye, but this game is based around realism and is one of the main reasons I even play this game to begin with because I'm sick of seeing wizards, orcs, harry potter, and the rest of those pricks; and part of that realism is to not have infinite ammo.

I'm sure we can create an option that lets you click between having infinite ammo or not like a check box when you go into the options menu to set the difficulty and whatnot. Same goes for lances.

I can get the idea of not wanting someone as Harry Potter in this game, this is Mount and Blade after all. If total realism is the underlying thought however, then we shouldn't forget about contagious diseases, injuries related to an improper warming up and stress caused by irregular toilet breaks while wearing full plate armor. I don't get the idea of unlimited ammo, as the only thing unlimited about it is that you don't have to go back to town every time to get new ones. What is it that makes the game more fun to play when you take that away?

    Running out of ammo....PERMANENTLY

@hayate666: Yes that is true, but you can buy 2 sets of extra bolts which should be enough for a few battles before you're forced to return to town anyways. Same goes with lances!
It still means that I've got to carry more stuff around than needed.

    Running out of ammo....PERMANENTLY

My thoughts are that nothing is as stupid as continually prancing to town for buying ammunition for a price that every beggar can afford. Why people insist to add such a routine maintenance chore is beyond me. Also, arrows are so very easy to come by in this game, that the need of having to buy them yourself isn't present at all.
Shields do break down already and get seriously weakened when you get them broken a few times. Same with horses. This works out nicely, because it urges me to be careful with them.
Broken lances might add something to the game, but not if I have to run back and forth to town for replacing them. For me limits are about not being able to use something an unlimited amount of time during a battle, not the act of replacing it every damn time. I believe the game has covered this nicely as it is now.
To sum my rant up, limited lance/arrow/shield/horse uses are fine, as long as it doesn't force me to constantly replace said items. Which is why very little needs to be changed in my opinion.

    Aiming bug? ...Horrible accuracy.

Then you must be doing somethng wrong.
Practice some, once you get the hang of it, it gets extremely difficult not to hit.
Maybe you can tell us what your power draw and archery levels are and what kind of bow you're using? I'm finding it hard to believe that you can do it as easy as you pretend to.
  14. hayate666

    Aiming bug? ...Horrible accuracy.

And you didn´t use a targeting reticule right? It´s not that I have a problem with getting them where I need them to, as I´m able to adjust my aim to the buggy reticule, but I prefer not having to do it, as in 7.51. If the center of the "little white circle-thingie", as you call it, is misaligned, it´s got little use. Then I could do with something a lot smaller.
  15. hayate666

    Aiming bug? ...Horrible accuracy.

It seems odd that way. It means that for a great deal of time, you're unable to use most of the bows in the game, while melee weapons don't have that kind of problem. If I understand correctly, it's a waste of money to save up for a stronger bow when you're below a certain level. Thanks for clearing it up though. Does this mean that when your skill/power draw are high enough the targeting reticule works as intended? With arrows going through the middle of it instead of way below?
  16. hayate666

    Aiming bug? ...Horrible accuracy.

This makes sense, but how much power throw/draw would you need to wield a wapon effectively? How many power throw for a throwing axe for instance?

    Aiming bug? ...Horrible accuracy.

I posted about this in another topic and have reported it in multiple bug report topics. It's terribly annoying and I prefer to play with a targeting reticule. It isn't just archery, it's with throwing weapons as well. Arrows and throwing weapons fly in a random circle around the point you're aiming at. Is this related to my power draw level? Is it the same with throwing weapons and power throw?
Crossbows are as accurate as they can be, except for the reticule being wrong aligned. (Arrows/bolts/throwing weapons don't go through the middle of it, but a rather significant way to the bottom of it)

    v0.804 bugs

Hitting in ranged combat is still very random, (Throwing weapons and archery, not crossbows) with the AI not suffering from the same problem. When I'm not changing the position of my target when hitting a wall with throwing weapons, about 80% of the shots I'm taking don't land on the same spot. This is from judy a small distance, so imagine what problems I'm having to shoot anything advancing against me on a hill. It's definitily spoiling the fun with ranged weapons I had in 7.51. Is there going to be done anything about this?
Also, the targeting reticule is still bugged. Any shots taken fly way below the center, which is incredibly annoying.

    Corinthian Hoplite 说:
Well, shields also regenerate after battles. Couldn't a special option for realism be present where arrows would be depleted, horses killed and equipment damaged after battles? Perhaps making everything a bit cheaper would do the balance...

Please don't mess with the current ammo system. It's terrificly thought out and very well balanced. I always hated having to run back and forth between towns for buying something as insignificant as arrows, but I hated having unlimited ammo as well. This is the best of both worlds. Shields do degenerate when broken I believe, as do horses. I'm glad armor and weapons don't break down, as it's just a stupid routine maintenance job which would break the game with current equipment prices. Even horses and shields are too expensive to degenerate sometimes, but it forces you to take care with them, so it adds to gameplay. It's nearly impossible to be careful with weapons and armor however, so it doesn't add anything when they would break down.

    v.803 bugs

To add to my previous post on inaccurate targeting, targeting with normal bows seems to be way off the mark since 0.800. Whenever I'm trying to hit something even if they are in front of me and standing still, the arrows go on a wild flight towards their target. And by wild, I mean so far away from the intended mark I shouldn't even have bothered aiming at all. My skill with archery is around 200 now.
Crossbows seem to be fine, except for the fact that they aim way below the targeting mark. I need to aim about 2 heads above my target, even on a close-medium distance, because they fly right at the feet of the target if I don't.
Throwing weapons seem to be fine, altough they're also prone to strange jumps. Anyone else notice anything like this?

edit: throwing weapons also drop to the ground pretty fast, but this may be intentional.
