    Resolved Main Quest Bug/s

Yeah I am still poking around the web for the right console command. There is one called campaign.lead_your_faction, but I somehow doubt that is the one. Not really seeing a likely command.

Someone somewhere I guess has to actually pull the trigger on these commands on a spare save. Maybe that is what I need to do ....

    I gotta say it...

Welcome to the wonderful world of economics and regulation.

There is no such thing as a definable "acceptable" point where you can or can't be upset about something. For many, many centuries, people who took pride in their work offered something they used to call a "refund". That way, people who were happy with your work would pass it on by word of mouth, and people unhappy with your work would at least admit you were fair and honest.

3 hours is nowhere near enough time to make a decision about something that may well be borked 20 or 40 or 100 hours in.

Software licensing needs reworked. Most games these days are more subscriptions than they are a final product. That's because over time the community wants upgrades, and that requires constant work to fulfill. So folk ought to be able to try them out for a month or two and stop, and the folks who play and play ought to bear the brunt of the expense. This is the result of years of software regulation slowly but surely turning the service back into a service after the industry originally thought it wanted to be under an intellectual property regime so they could sell a final product as an commodity.

Long story short, there is no answer to that question. It is entirely subjective. Bummer, I know, but that is the state of the industry. Every SINGLE game goes through this now because the industry is such that there is no rational way to deal with someone who would under normal circumstances in any other industry simply be given a refund.

I'm happy to report I am not having many of these issues. So far so good for me.

Resolved Can't Craft Items i have Unlocked?

I have this same issue with axe's and maces. It would appear there is a reddit about it as well. Other weapons types that I have unlocked do not do this. Just axe and mace. I do have some weapon types still that have parts for which I have nothing unlocked.

It seems to happen with both one and two handed axes.

I really didn't want to be this disappointed

Not at all sure why you made this comment, as it seems more or less the exact opposite of what I said.

I am not shocked TaleWorlds was not able to do more with the engine. What I hope for is that it is good enough for the modders to add enough content to keep it interesting over time. Stating that none of the big box developers want to take on this project is as much as to say no one with the resources to crank a truly awesome engine wants to make it available to modders.

They want to monetize the modding as well. even though a ton of truly awesome stuff can be modded, because, as you say, the technical difficulty of it is much reduced, they want that easy money locked away behind a proprietary licensing agreement. So of course they are not going to build an easy modding tool and then make it available to the community attached to a top of the line engine.

Although modders clearly made warband better, I think you really underestimate what kind of effort it takes to create a game like this.
People seems to forget that modders build on an entire already existing complex infrasctructure that is the game itself.

Don't get me wrong i'm not undermining the modders work one bit, they put crazy amount of hours and effort to make these awesome mods, but it's still different than creating an engine and an entire fonctionning game.

What small Quality of Life improvements would you want TW to implement?

I could probably sum up my list of suggestions as "an in game spreadsheet". Possibly make it dependent on advancing your merchant skill or having a skilled merchant in the troop.

I just started playing so bear with me if this stuff is already there.

    Help Links

It's been long enough since I played M&B that a lot of stuff is not coming back to me, and indeed a lot of it may have been changed. I am not finding how to create my own groups within my warband, for example, to ease tactical commands. Just in general, I have been surprised not to find a post...

I really didn't want to be this disappointed

    Please not again.

Look. "Early Access" and "Sap" need to stop being made into a synonym. It has been more than enough time for more innovation than this. The issue is no big box developers want to take this on, and that in its turn is because a truly awesome modable game of this type more or less makes game dev obsolete.

What I like, and what I want to know more about, is the modability. That is what will make or break this game for me. Can people keep making it better and better without being forced to go back and back and back to paid DLC?

I am enjoying the game so far, btw... So. FWIW, don 't really agree with the OP's sentiments, but understand their view.

My god do you guys read anything from TaleWorlds? This is early access. It IS an modernized Warband, with more features, and most of the major innovative changes are still in the works which they already told us.

You’re a paying customer of an early release developmental project.

And don’t get me wrong, I appreciate people giving feedback on specific things they feel should be fleshed out or seem to be missing but the “8 years for this???” self-entitled **** has to stop. They made it clear the game was unfinished and literally asked people that were concerned with an unfinished product not to buy it.

Mount&Blade Warband | OS X and Linux Support

    Ok, well, added -

    .local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu

and then transferred all the libraries from

    $HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu

including all the ones I added from the link above.

M&B now works from the command line using the command you gave me, though it still refuses to start from the steam control panel.

Steam is SNAFU for some reason on my compy. Oh well. thanks again for the help.

Mount&Blade Warband | OS X and Linux Support

libgcrypt.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This file is IN the folder. It is in the same folder I added libGLEW.so.1.10 to (/home/USER/.steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu)  so why it's now finding that file but not another one that is in the exact same folder I cannot begin to fathom.

Sometimes I really do just hate computers.

The changes I made to the commands you gave were to simple things like capitalization of "SteamApps" and for whatever reason the path is slightly different on my computer for .steam

    LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu

On my computer, the .steam/steam file does not contain the ubuntu12_32 folder. Rather, it is simply in .steam. .local/share/ has no Steam folder at all, which may be the issue, but in the end I would have thought that if the files were anywhere in either path we'd be good to go.

I don't know much about the process here. This game used to "just work", you know? lol

Mount&Blade Warband | OS X and Linux Support

Trying the above with some minor typo/path corrections (possibly specific to Debian?), I still get

    插入代码块:
    sh -c `cd ~/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/MountBlade\ Warband/ && env LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$HOME/.steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu:$HOME/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu:." ./mb_warband_linux`

./mb_warband_linux: error while loading shared libraries: libgcrypt.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

It seems for some reason a ton of library files have disappeared from this folder that this game wants. Worked fine about a month ago.

Does anyone have a list of them anywhere?

P.S. I added the following files to /.steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu:$HOME/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu

    libcurl-gnutls.so.4 libGLEW.so.1.10 libSDL2-2.0.so.0 libtxc_dxtn.so libwayland-client.so.0 libwayland-cursor.so.0 libwayland-egl.so.1 libxkbcommon.so.0

This was based off of advice from the following link

    http://www.gog.com/forum/mount_blade_series/error_while_loading_shared_libraries_libglewso110_cannot_open_shared_object_file

More or less reinforcing my suspicion this is to do with missing librabry files. But again, I have upgraded and downgraded Steam, so I am not sure why my file list should be incomplete. If I uninstal and reinstal steam, do I end up having to do the same for all the games?
    Thanks for your help.

Mount&Blade Warband | OS X and Linux Support

    Well....

Seems dead here in Linuxville for Warband, but I updated my install yesterday and everything seems to work fine (including TF2) except Mount and Blade: Warband.

If anyone has any clue. When I try to start it, it shows running, syncing, and stops in the Steam console. No splash screen. No nothing. I moved Steam back to normal and then to Beta again which seems to be the standard way of fixing something wrong with the Steam app. I suppose I will eventually try uninstalling and reinstalling M&B, but that certainly is a chore.

I tried running it by starting mb_warband_linux in home/shane/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/MountBlade Warband. Nothing

Trying it from the command line - ./mb_warband_linux: error while loading shared libraries: libGLEW.so.1.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Any idea why this would be gone of if it has anything to do with anything anywhere?

One thing GW ''stole'' from Tolkien is that halflings are totally immune to magic, just kinda like Frodo and Sam were not corrupted by the ring.

That's almost like a troll post for someone who is both a LOTR fan and WFB fan. lol!

They are not IMMUNE, in either case. Just resistant. And in Warhammer I think you'd have to be playing their RPG for it to come into play. Come to think of it though, I never experimented with the alternate halfling units and their rules in WFB. Don't remember them being included in the Empire book.

Stopped playing some years back, but still...

I'm playing a Cleric and I have some prisoners but so far the first 2 ransom brokers I've found won't buy any prisoners.

I got through the dialogue options and I click on the one where I say I've got prisoners to sell. Then he says, "Well I'll be here for a few more days," but no prisoners are sold. I've tried it repeatedly but I can't sell any prisoners.

Yeah, just keep clicking. It's a bug I think Guspav knows about. I find it helps to click faster, but that may just be a trick of my mind.

Alot of these stories would make for great youtube videos, if the person playing did the voice over in character and stuff.

Hehe. I'm actually doing that, albeit I am pretty self conscious about it. Which is weird. Since putting stuff on YouTube is supposed to be, like, trying to get noticed, right?

But yeah, it's fun making stories out of the game's results as you play.

.... as from my experience it is the personal story created from an open sandbox that MAKE you want to immerse yourself.

You know, that's awesome. Yeah. So my history can be mine, and yours can be yours, and we can compare and contrast and just have fun with it. And no one has to get a Phd in canonical fake history to write their own stories.

I think you're absolutely right about that.

    Suggestions

If there is no world history already, I'd suggest that. I am making one up myself with all the tons of footage I am uploading to YouTube lol. I can always change it if there comes to be a Phantasy Calradia canon of history.

I just started writing little notes through my unedited playthrough footage, and just sort of instinctively started trying to make the context and found out there, well... IS no context that I can find. hehehehe

Well. My first time trying to play as a mage has been somewhat confusing. Finally bought my first spell other than the magic missile and I guess, maybe, I just flat do not have the mana to cast it? Fireball... Character about lvl 6.

Am I missing a way to find out how much mana I have and how much the spells cost?

You need at least a magic power 5 score. As a rule of thumb the spells cost is equal to the spell's min magic power cost x 1000, so for instance the shield spell costs 1000 denars and only needs a 1 magic power score to learn and to cast. Magic points are calculated by multiplying the magic power score x 10.
Don't forget that before you can cast any mage spell, you'll need to copy the scroll to your spell book via the camp menu.

Thanks for the guide for calculating magic power. That is simple and easy to remember. Too bad there is no easy way to make it clear in game, but this works for me.

What actually ends up to have happened is that I can't seem to cast fireball from horseback. Magic Missile casts fine. Anything you can tell me about that?
