  1. Where is the Calradian Empire's traditional capital?

The empire apparently moved capitals, whereever the emperor was.

    From that same dev blog:

"The capital moved from place to place, and the assembly of the people was called wherever the emperor desired. In practice, this was usually an army camp where his veterans could be relied upon to shout down any opposition."

And Lycaron was where Arenicos's palace was located:

"And then, returning to his palace in the southern town of Lycaron after his latest victorious campaign on the borders, "

It doesn't make a lot of sense for there to be a moving capital (a capital is the most important city, not the same thing as the seat of government) but it's a video game, so whatever. It's still an open question what settlement the Calradoi originally arose from, which may not necessarily be Baravenos if the capital actually did move around that much -- but who knows?
The voivodes that ruled the principates that make up my current country were known to move the capital everytime a new voievode took power. We had somewhere around 20 capitals between all 3 principates. So it isn't really unrealistic.
  2. Where is the Calradian Empire's traditional capital?

Interesting, but the game files state that Pravend comes from the Calradic Parzeonerea: 'City of He Who Rules By Heaven's Will'.

The names of the Calradic empire are vaguely Greek but I never know if they are Greek, or they took the Warhammer 40k approach to "not-latin" their Greek names.

Parzeonerea could come from Para Theon - and the suffix usually used to cities.

On the contrary, it's not uncommon at all that ancient empires had itinerant cities. China, for example. There was one preferred capital city, but the habit of kings to build new cities (like the Persians did often) made it so every king could choose from a number of palaces all in different parts of the empire, and if they were energetic managers, they'd use them all.

This was more common in bronze and iron age empires and Medieval feudal courts than the more modern empires from the 15th Century onwards.
I'm not sure actually. Information on Baravenos:

    Speculations on Baravenos being Praven:
  3. Where is the Calradian Empire's traditional capital?

Really? Where does it say that?

The game's files have Calradian names for most of the Vlandian cities, so that makes sense.

I thought it was Lykaron because of the fact that the Vaegir Guard rebelled there.
From what I understand, the people who made the Empire came from somewhere else and conquered many of the locals. They arrived first on the west coast and then conquered inward. The Palaic people were one of the local groups that were conquered and whose culture was destroyed. The Sturgians, Battanians, Aserai, and Kuzhaits were other groups already present on the continent. The Nords were mercenaries from the north who in the time of Bannerlord were just starting to be brought in by various groups. The Vladians were huge groups of mercenaries brought over by the Empire who eventually rebelled taking the Empire's original lands in Calradia. Btw, the capital was Baravenos, which is Praven.

    edit: found this
"A thousand years ago, the Calradoi were one of a dozen tribes living in the hill country between the southern sea and the Battanian woods. Over time, they subjugated their neighbours, forcing them into a confederation of city-states."

So yes, they are indigenous to the west coast.
  4. Where is the Calradian Empire's traditional capital?

I don't think that can be considered the same type of thing as a "Rome" though. That would be more like when they were just tribal people moving around who got kicked out and eventually built their great civilization elsewhere
I'm not sure, but I think they were already an empire for a long time before the vlandians came.
  5. Where is the Calradian Empire's traditional capital?

The original capital is canonically in Vlandia. That's where the empire's original homeland was before the Vlandians pushed them east.
  6. New factions?

Good ideas and i'm all for it, but realistically I think we will only see new factions/locations in a DLC separate from the main campaign.
  7. Yo were the black women at?

Do I have to assume that you are an easterner who uses a Mac?
I actually laughed, good joke. But no, not that kind of pc.
  8. Yo were the black women at?

If everyone who complained about too many women in Bannerlord got banned from the forums, these forums would have an infinitely better environment.
Actually internet in general would be way better without pc westerners on it.
  9. Yo were the black women at?

There is no religion in the Mount&Blade world, there is no sacred writing stating that women should be submissive to men, be it a father, husband or brother. And people using Warband as a reference should not forget that the claimant for Swadia stated that it was common for women to be rulers and that the most famous swadian rulers were female, even Harlaus acknowledges that.

While I think it is acceptable and expected that there should be sexist behavior in Bannerlord, nothing points towards this being widespread belief, it seems more like a personal trait, maybe even something to be added with the other traits, like Generous, or Merciful.

Anyhow, I have already seen a mod in the Nexus meant for people that preach sexism in fictional/fantasy games and hide behind the "this is not realistic according to my standards" argument. Use that mod instead of trying to impose it on us all.
Bad argument. Literally no culture in any time on this earth ever had "true" sexual equality, female armies or female warlords, and it sure as hell wasn't the fault of a religion, it's the fault of biology. It doesn't even make sense in the world of Calradia (if you REALLY want to argue that it's fantasy and it can be whatever), as sexism was clear in Warband, not to mention that Harlaus said there were a handful of female GENERALS that RUINED Swadia.
  10. Yo were the black women at?

She was addressing her troops from the balcony of a church while appointing male generals to lead them in the battle.

Woman that is know to ever use sword only as a tool to beat her servants with it using the flat side.

She was commanding a ship, sailing around and ramming other ships. Mostly of her own side.

No they were not. I asked people to bring example of a women that are recorded to be fighting in battle during Middle Ages in the geographic area of what MB represents and they could not find a single one. Only examples they could bring was women disguised as men participating in the bar fights and women throwing axes at the enemy from their balconies during sieges.

Women were leading armies in battles on rare occasions, but they were not actually fighting in the battles. And when they led armies, it was usually not because they were skilled generals, but because of the authority of their position inherited from male relatives.

I am not excluding that some women actually fought in battle, but that was clearly very, very rare exception. There are millions of records of men in battles all through Medieval history. People who say that women fought in battle can't bring single example of a woman. There is probably reason for that.

It's not little. England had 3 Queens during Middle Ages and about +-40 Kings. Out of those 3 Queens one was on the throne just 9 days. That's ratio of about 7%. And England actually had fairly high ratio of Queens, if you go to count also say France, Russia and Turkey, you will get something like 2% ratio.

Moreover out of those 3 Queens no one was leading troops in battle let alone actuary fight in one.

Women are unrealistically over-represented in the positions of power, command and warfare in the game if compared to real historical facts.

Representation of a skills and value of a women in the Medieval combat, fair fight:

Best response in this thread, and probably the only one here that actually knows some history and not "western PC" history.
  11. Bannerlord memes

Best mount and blade meme I've ever seen tbh.
  12. About the smithy's smithing system.

Does anyone have thoughts to what might make a better progression system? I realise some people may want unlimiited smithing to be a thing, but I think the devs would want some kind of pacing mechanic.
Money limits the mechanic enough though. You must invest tons of money to get anywhere with smithing. Stamina is just stupid.
  13. About the smithy's smithing system.

I assume it's there to prevent millionaires like me to farm the skill up in no time... But I agree, it's a poor mechanic and really discourages anyone from using the skill
Yeah but who cares. It's a singleplayer game, and singleplayer games that intentionally handicap you like that instead of letting you have fun are really ****ty. Take for example Warband, you could become a superhuman that could one shot any unit in the game after a few tens of hours in a campaign and it FELT GOOD, it felt rewarding. That's one of the reasons why it is still so popular, the progression system is open ended and allows you to become as OP as you want.
  14. What would happen if you executed all lords of a faction?

What would happen to the cities they control? Asking because I wiped out 80% of the Khuzait clans (as an empire restorationist Khuzait myself, no less).
  15. Difficulty compared to earlier games?

The people that are trying to give advice on how to get better are missing the entire point of the thread, Jesus Christ. It's almost like they didn't even read the OP.
  16. Difficulty compared to earlier games?

Fighting is way harder because they ****ed the camera angles. Being a commander is way easier and you have a lot more options + your troops actually play their roles: shieldwalls staying in formation, horse archers avoiding and encircling enemies, cavalry charging, retreating and charging again etc. Overall it feels way better if you just want to play the commander role.
  17. Let's talk about the Paradox model

Oh my god, anything but the Paradox model. I honestly think Paradox is one of the WORST companies out there, making mediocre games at best that are only interesting because the community does more work modding than the devs do developing (MEIOU, HPM, NWO, TNO, etc.), all while asking for 250 euros a game. It's ridiculous and I hope they get blown off the planet along with their entire company.
  18. Remove real world references

I suggest everyone drops the "women in game" stuff immediately. We're talking about a fictional game in a fictional world where any parallel to the real world is not of importance whatsoever.
If you want to bring in history, restrict yourself to in game lore, where it has been stated in every single installment of the franchise that there are women leading men into battle in Calradia.

Revert back to actual historic references in game and have a civilised debate about it or seize posting immediately.
Talking about that is entirely within the game's lore, as Warband depicted men and women in medieval society exactly as they were depicted in our world.
  19. Remove real world references

What disinformation? The extremely scientific and peer-reviewed "women aren't weaker than men"? There are - confirmed - female warrior graves in Denmark, get over yourself. If you think strength is just gendered grip strength you have an appalling view of human beings and leadership. Not to mention treating genders as generalisations - Rhagaea seems a bit small to lead a charge of cataphracts (though anyone with arms can couch a lance and brace for impact) but someone like Brienne of Tarth is far stronger than you could ever be
Try arm wrestling any dude on the street. Men have on average 12kg of muscle more. Do you think all of those are in the forearms? And Brienne is a FICTIONAL character
  20. Remove real world references

Can you at least attempt to be civil?
Nice deflection. That has nothing to do with the fact you are spouting misinformation and that you dodge every attempt of telling you otherwise. You can't claim to be aware of sexual dimorphism, then claim men and women are just as strong, then ignore scientific data that tells that women are 50% weaker physically than men on average.
