I'm not entirely sure what the cause for this is but when I loaded into the game today, one of my companions which I had given the highland warlord bracers (https://gyazo.com/2145579e52d2a61aa0548bd376724f88) was completely covered in strange spikes...

There is a bug which occurs if you send one of your companions on a quest, as in for example sending a companion and 8 other soldiers to finish a quest for you. In which case once they come back from said quest, you can no longer create a party with that companion.
