Just pulled out a pretty good 1v1 against the Volsung. Well, we also had a bit of help from 3 members of the Caledonii, but essentially a 1v1. Anywho, things were cool. More people should 1v1 us! 2v2 us maybe! Granted things were a little rough, but we can get some real rules thought up or something. Was thinking of writing up a ruleset based on pseudo-historical tactics and stuff. Maybe divide classes or something. Oh well.
On another note: we have a themesong. It pretty accurately describes us.
Hi lads, while it's cool to find people interested in my liege clan (my family is one of those supporting septs). I think you have got a little mixed up with the timings of the period. I would recommend changing your name to the Kingdom of Dal Riata circa 7th century. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dál_Riata
This was the kingdom in the so called "dark age" which encompassed Argyll (Campbell lands)
I'm main family Campbell myself (well, also Kerr), genealogy is fun. Historical accuracy is also fun (mostly). Its a stretch, a really really really big stretch used to justify the name and such, I know, but its just about as historically accurate as these things get (at least if we're taking a note from NW). In fact, one could argue that there really isn't that much of historical basis what so ever (read: they'd be pretty much right). I've always had a sort of knee-jerk reaction to using real historical names/people/groups for this sore of role-play thing, so I feel comfortable with this sort of stuff that could seem accurate at first glance if you don't really think about it. Plus, Dal Riata has already been eaten up by Alba/Pictland/Proto-Scotland at this point in time.
Thanks for the input though, it is something we'll have to think about in earnest.
Habit I guess? I've never been part of a clan that doesn't use them and it never occurred to me that just plain not having them was a thing you could do. Plus, I jump on any sort of chance to be cynical I can get my claws on because I am a bad, bad person.
Yeah, I can see where it kind of comes off as super condescending. I was asked to write a description of things and I sort of vented my total contempt for arbitrary ranking systems in this sort of online community. Soz internet, I <3 u 5ever.
Freedman – Freed slaves, laborers, and conscripts. Better than a slave, but not much. We trust you, we want to work with you, but you're still totally in the junior half of the clan.
Slave – Chattel, thralls, human equivalent of dirt. You have no rights, you have no say. You're probably in this rank if you're new, or we don't like you very much.
Sounds like funtimes for new members in this clan, too. You can get promoted from "get treated like **** all day erryday" to "get treated like **** in nicer words all day erryday," and if you stick it out through that then you become a generic clan member whose ever-so-valuable eStatus is questionable at best, and still isn't trusted with any responsibility in the clan.
Can't tell if clan thread is serious or a parody of other recent clan threads.
Oi! Just here to say that the illustrious Muffin recruited me to join this here unit. Feel free to add me on steam, and I'll see you all in the battlefield!
I kind of like that idea, there could be set Thanes (title differing by kingdom) for each lord (like 3 for each) that would roam the land acting as their assistants. Sort of like extra parties that would do the lord's bidding, with each thing they capture working for their sworn lord. Besides promoting companions you could convince them to join you like anyone else. An option to promote Thanes and demote Lords might be interesting.
So yeah, I've been bombarded with another error. I can't enter taverns on any of my characters without the game crashing. I've ruled out corrupted save since I've tested it on new characters and still get this error and I've also ruled out viruses since I've run and re-run a scan every time the...
Nope, I've got a 4x4 key and everything. Do game servers track IP addresses or something? Because I'm using the same player name on both computers (claning is fun!).
I'm getting an annoying little issue with my Warband game! I keep trying to join multiplayer servers and it won't let me in. It's not my firewall, it's not my modem and it's not my ISP (as I've checked and double checked those), not a virus (scan regularly) and it isn't something booting up...
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but is there a way to have your wife join your party out on the field? I feel kind of bad leaving her in my castle all the time.
Dunno if it's already been suggested, but I'd like to see more kinds of warbands out and about. For example, you're the only mercenary in all of Calradia. I know the lords tend to change sides a lot, but if there were other mercenaries around in the world it would add some atmosphere. They could...
Things touching my neck, can't stand it. I guess it's not that irrational of a fear, since it's such a vital and squishy area of the body. Can't even wear shirts with high collars, makes formal occasions and job interviews intolerable since I feel like some one's going to pull my collar and choke me at any moment.
I dont understand how so many americans still consider this man a heroes i had never heard of him untill i read Bernard Cornwells book The Fort which had him in it which was based on The Penobscot Expedition another thing that americans seem to know nothing about even though it was quite a large battle in the war of independance. at this battle this man who was said to be a heroe disobeyed commands and ran away abandoning his men and leaving an entire ships worth of men to be captured as he took his own ship home abandoning them. when i looked into it more i dound that he never even finished his midnight ride as its known as he was captured and taken to england he wa one of 12 riders im just wondering how a man court marshelled for cowardice, who didnt even play a large role in any of the revolution and who has always been critised can be rememberd as a hero? like to know your thoughts on it
He's less of a national hero and more of just one of those names we know for what ever reason. He's just oone of those names we know despite not really being that important... hard to explain. I guess people use him as an example of a hero even though nobody really thinks of him as one.
Once we get a more official announcement I bet they'll pump out a pretty early alpha/beta for us to get our meaty little fingers on. TaleWorlds is pretty good when it comes to play testing their games.
