There is no ADVANTAGE after a huge winning on siege

well... its very likely that its a different bunch of lords each time, as the entire army of any of the kingdoms is roughly 3k+ (my estimate)? though i would note that the marshal would have to lead the attacks. so it could be that they withdrew before you could smash the marshal's army, or they appointed a new marshal during that short 1 week, and the marshal would then gather those lords with intact armies. most of the lords attacking you should be different, if their the same lords, then it might be a bug cos their not supposed to be able to raise armies that quickly.

one way to end a siege is to go out and attack the marshal (the guy in the front of the army). capturing or destroying his army will end the campaign and send everyone home. of course, you have to avoid getting the 1000 guys behind him involved in the battle. generally, you should expect to engage 250-400 in the field when you do this, which is as hard as defending against a siege of double or triple that number. but at least you get loot and the chance to capture them.

    Marrying the children of Kings...

it could be that kings hide their families away to keep them away from harm. in which case there should be a awesome quest to go find the families of enemy kings and kill/kidnap/*cough cough* them.

Yay! I've made a profit from my fiefs!

i make about 1500 and i only have 1 town and 2 villages. looking at the wages of some of your fiefs, it is apparent your not garrisoning much. so the big question is why then do you want/need so many fiefs =p since i have my own kingdom, i keep choice castles unclaimed for free garrisoning. i really think its about time people start doing a bit of thinking on wad fiefs they should own rather than begrudge the tax inefficiency system (though you didnt explicitly do so i note). this issue is weeks old and not particularly interesting.

though i do think its cool you have that many fiefs and that much renown. good job if you did that on native!

    Weirdest bug I've ever seen

im jst a bit surprised that with 9 khergit lords in your prison, they can still muster 1,200 troops. normally by this point, you should have thrashed each of his lords once or twice and thinned them out. oh wells... life lesson: dont trespass near a castle where the entire enemy army is (unless you intend to fight).

If you wanted to make a faction- any type of faction... what would it be and why

    bobthehero 说:
The developpers wanted it that way.

uhuh. just like how you can use a knife to bat away a horseman charging with a lance and shields to block arrows that fly outside of the size of the shield. =)

Disagree. A shot to the face of anyone without a proper helmet would kill. Not to mention any bandit troop short of Sea Raiders with mail or low tier troops would not have the armor to stop penetration. They would be a viable starting weapon. Just like throwing daggers and throwing knifes that are in the game.

ninja stars/shurikens were actually used more as a distractionary tactic. ninjas would throw many of them in quick succession at a target, hopefully injuring them slightly and surprising them before going in for the kill in close combat or running away in the chaos. sure a well aimed out to the face might kill, but in reality, it would have trouble penetrating deep enough to kill most of the time. maybe in the eye? there are documentaries on this (ninjas in general) that are great fun to watch =) i do like your idea for a strange armor faction (i myself suggested it in e 1st page) and i pt all these out more for information sake than to disapprove of what your suggesting. no reason why the game has to follow reality and i would love using ninja stars to headshot enemies =p

    commoner revolution

There was some one on the board a bit back that said they tried the Steppe Bandit King scenerio.  They said it didn't go well.  Might try to find that.

hmmm??? i dont see why the 2 cases would be similar. im not talking about using peasants as soldiers, im talking about using the 11 non-noble companions as lords. oh, and i couldnt find the post your referring to unfortunately. if you could provide a link itll be great =)

@ zollum: Firentis, Alayen, Bahestar, Rolf, Matheld, Lezalit are nobles, the other 11 are not

    commoner revolution

wow... seems like almost nobody has tried it. gonna give it a shot sometime.

    The best shield in game

    Knight of the Rose 说:
Reinforced knightly heater has one of the highest resistances in the game, and all my companions have only about 2-4 shield skill and I can sit in a siege and fire off 60 bolts while they hold in front of the castle while I shoot and their shields do fine.  Not to mention it looks great.

true enough. its resistance is really high but its durability is the problem. ive had my whole team with it before and all i can say is that its good that your companions are so adept at keeping it unbroken =) i wouldn't say that breaking happened very often (most fights tend to be short after all), but with huscarl or steel, it has almost never happened again and that's why i made the change. i agree that it does look great though.

    commoner revolution

im curious. has any of you tried to do a commoner revolution. in other words, using all your non-noble companions as lords and keeping your noble companions with you instead? i ask because it sounds like a fun way to try playing, and i might wanna try it soon. if anyone has tried it, i would...

    The best shield in game

tweak it eh? haha... nah, im pretty fine with my current equipment. if i wanted to switch to a fur, i'd have to hunt mountain bandits till i get a reinforced shield and then learn to edit it. too much trouble for me =p

    The best shield in game

knightly heater is a bit fragile due to low durability. in the hands of a companion, it tends to break quickly. reinforced fur is quite good i agree. but its UGLY! lolx... main reason why i personally dont wanna get it for myself or my companions. another pt to note is that if your using a shield at all, your shield skill should be high enough to offset the smaller sizes of shields as compared to the fur. personally, i prefer the huscarl shield but the steel pretty much just as good IMO. preference probably decides here. some people like the knightly kite shield too.

Looking for a challenge, what castle to start my empire with this time?

dont start with a castle. go for a town immediately.

    Glitch? Combat text not showing

has happened to me before. if it persists for a few fights, it probably wont go away by itself.

i re-installed the game and repatched. worked for me at least.

Possible to read the same book after export/import?

    ejnomad07 说:
I figure if you're going to do that might as well just cheat and edit your character's stats to 10 and max out Intelligence and shave off time.

totally agree. it may not technically be cheating, but you might as well save the time and just cheat rather than waste the time sating your own imaginary sense of gaming chivalry.
  17. Calaran

Possible to read the same book after export/import?

wouldnt consider it cheating either. you have to restart the game, earn a few thousand, find the book guy, buy and read it, and repeat. if anything, its a lame use of time imo (unless your genuinely restarting the game of cos).

How to get caravans to go to your town

    Boduar 说:
Not true btw Wercheg in my game is #2 on prosperity I make about 1600+ a week from it usually but its dead last in terms of caravans visiting.

thats cos prosperity consists of more factors than caravans... but caravans still help quite a bit.
  19. Calaran

    party size

yea... at full damage, early in the game with low shield, armor and life, you probably wont last 1 wave of javalins.

having a big party early on just slows you down, eats away your money and serves no real purpose. later in the game you can raise a large army in very short periods anyways, so what would be the point.

i imagine its possible to get your party size to 200. 300 might be possible (though i dont think so) but would probably involve you running around spending all your time (for many many many months) getting renown. and again, theres no real point in it. slow movement, expensive and time-consuming.

AI lords on the other hand, have no party size cap. if i need a super big army, i get 1 of my lords who has only villages (hence unable to garrison) and spam him with troops then get him to follow. he will have serious problems keeping up though, but is useful for sieges.

i would suggest 50-60 for non-war roaming parties. 80-100 for a war party. 20-30 when you want speed and to attract bandits.

Shariz assault - my idea; No Shariz for me...

many factors at play here. 700 renown isnt particularly high. you also mentioned you already have a castle, thats also not good. if you truly want a town, always refuse all fiefs til the town comes around. of course, a high renown will seal the deal.

it isnt about how much 'effort' you put in or how much you 'deserve' it. this is a computer game and it works by fixed parameters.
