So I've got to capture a Nordic lord and bring him back to a lord in Swadia. However, after picking fights with and beating 5 Nord-lords (Ha) they all manage to escape, somehow. I know you can't kill lords/counts/etc. and can only knock them unconscious so I figured that using a sharp or blunt weapon wouldn't matter. Is capturing a lord all based on luck? Perhaps I should just save before fighting a group and keep reloading if I don't capture him? Or is there some other little thing I need to do to increase chances?

You know you've been playing too much Warband when...

when you look at a road map and wonder where your little horse character is.

If it has 'lance' in the name it will be couchable.
    Heh. Simple enough. Thanks.
    Here's one:
How can I get out of a relationship I currently have with a Lady? (I want to do this because she lives in a different kingdom than I have pledged too, and the trek down to her is LONG)

Can all polearms be couched while riding a horse? Is there a specific type? How can I tell?
I believe only lances can be couched, not spears or other types of polearms.  When you've got your lance equipped, you can tell by looking at the lower right of your screen (where your hitpoints are displayed).  When it's couched, there should be a white dot there; when it's not couched, the dot is red.

To add to JosieJ's excellent answer, if you have the lance control option set to manual, you couch your lance by hitting the 'switch weapon mode' button which is 'X' by default (but I have it set to the button next to left-shift, so my pinky can hit it comfortably  ).  You must be riding at sufficient speed for this to work.  If you have lance control set to automatic, this happens automatically, but that is actually bad since your lance stops being couched after a while if you don't hit anything.  So if you start the battle with a charge, the lance will probably not be couched anymore when you engage the enemy.
Thanks for the tips. Though, I wasn't 100% clear on my original question about lances/polearms. If I want to BUY one from an arms merchant, how will I know the difference between a couchable or non-couchable polearm?

Pork, chicken, and fresh beef will always go bad.  There's no way to stop this--although it would be cool if salt would at least slow down this process!

Check your inventory.  Rotten food will be labeled as such.  If you check everyday, you will see a progression, for example: Chicken-->Fresh Chicken-->Day-old Chicken-->Two-day-old Chicken-->Smelling Chicken-->Rotten Chicken.  Once anything is rotten, you won't see quantities of food consumed/remaining (like 10/50) anymore, indicating that it's not feeding your troops anymore.
Thanks. Of course I figure this out not long after I ask my question by just looking at the food titles. I expected the image to change or something.
    Two other things:
1.) I sent out one of my heroes (Ymira) to spread the word that I will try and reinstate old laws in Calradia. When she came back, I got a note that said "You have gained the right to rule." What does this mean? Surely it doesn't mean I can just up and become king now.

I have a question about food.
I've bought my army (or small group of friends of 31) at least 4 different types of food, and I recently got an update that my party has nothing to eat. I find this strange, because less than half of the food I've bought for them has been eaten. Why does it say that my party has nothing to eat if there's still plenty of food left in my inventory?

Which food types did you have exactly?
I had pork, chicken, bread, and smoked fish.

Could it be that the bread and smoked fish is depleted and what you have left is the pork and chicken?  Fresh food, like pork and chicken, only lasts a couple of days before it becomes rotten and when that happens it ceases to feed your men, but stays in your inventory.  Is that what happened possibly?
I never noticed. Will it have some sort of indication that it's gone bad? Because I've never noticed any of my food rotting or otherwise. And is there a way to fight this? Buy salt perhaps?

Typo Thread: Post typo errors you find in SP game here

When making a custom battle, the background for Aethrod has a small typo. Near the bottom of the description it says: "... ran away from home a fourteen."
It should be, "... home at fourteen."
