    Game too difficult? (Floris mod)

Just leave the Khergit plains. They are not conducive to early play. The bandits frequently have a speed higher than 5.5 on the map, they are more mobile in battle, and  just more annoying to deal with. Just go ANYWHERE else, buff up, then come back later. Unless you are a spectacular horse archer/crossbowman, you will not be able to handle the Steppe bandits early game.

I think I should rename my knights to Ultralisks and Hydralisks. And as for the D'Shar, I find having them run into a wall of repeating grooved spine (arrow) fire does quite nicely.

So, I was screwing around in one of my games, having just won a massive war, when I decided I wanted a more appropriate court gear instead of just walking around in armor the whole time, and found the clothes on sale to be rather lackluster. While browsing the cheatmenu, I happened upon an...

Not in a very helpful mood, are you?

The bottom line is that all of us were newbies once and probably have asked a stupid question once or twice - having searched or not. Hopefully, someone posted the answer and not RTFM.

True. However, there's two things that seem to constantly fuel the regular's annoyance.
1: The Quick Questions/Answers Thread is 690 pages long. You can be 99% sure your question has already been asked and answered.
2: The search function is so amazingly effective that it completely negates the length. I did a test search for "knighthood order" and it went from 690 to 7 pages - ~1% of the original amount.

Also, the interesting topics bit isn't affected. The annoyance comes at repeated questions, not at unique topics. If you honestly find questions like "How to found a knighthood order" or "Where to find Strange Rune Bow" interesting, I pity you.

There is no communication being stripped away here. This is an attempt by the mods to group all the technical, short, and simple, questions into one thread. I don't see FAQ threads being blasted in other sub-forums.

Also, if the mod says that you should've searched, they probably have the Quick Questions/Answers thing memorized. They know if your info is there or not.

Would have been fun to see this guy advocating a new thread for every question back when Fawzia was around.
seriously, what is so horrible about new threads? you act like it causes actual harm to something.

EDIT: it is an honest question. I have seriously never encountered such hostility towards "unnecessary" questions/threads.

I think you're suffering from internet disconnect. Imagine this situation in the real world:
You sit at your help desk with a pamphlet right in front of you. In the pamphlet is all the information necessary for the new person to figure out the answer to the question.
Instead of looking at the pamphlet that is clearly labeled FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, they ask you a question already answered in the pamphlet.
The first time, you might answer nicely. The second, maybe a bit of annoyance. The n + 1th time, you are going to be so angry that the only way to cope and not go on a murder rampage is by trying to educate the idiots.

What do you do when you get attacked by a massive army..

    Abuse the AI:
Since their army will be slightly scattered within their siege area, you can wander into the sight range of a few lords and then lure them into you and your ally without pulling the whole swarm. Rinse, lather, repeat, until you can engage the remaining army head on. The higher your surgery, the better, because you can fight a war of attrition infinitely better.

All spells do zero damage because damage is not being reported, and while fireballs certainly don't murder enemies instantly, the stamina cost is cheap and you can evade your enemies enough to cast enough fireballs for the splash and DoTs to kill them.

If you get a mod (BattleSizeChanger) and set it a good size above the native max level, all the reinforcement waves will come while you're still fighting instead of going back to the menu, meaning that if you've set up a kill zone, it will function for the entire fight. Honestly, I've never played this mod without a battle size changer.

For Gateway traveling to not just cause mass mayhem and render front lines, supply lines, reinforcement routes, and trade routes completely useless, ter'angreal need to be implemented, or at least dreamspikes. Forcing players to lessen their armies and go on raids to get rid of dreamspikes would add a nice mechanic to the game if you want to travel all over the place, and if you don't play with channelers, it doesn't affect you anyway.

Depends. Try not to go too mass channeler, that breaks the game. Taking Tar Valon with under 100 casualties is... not realistic.

Plus, having 150 channelers would be overpowered even in the books. The only way to equal that would be massive hordes of trollocs, Seanchan air raids or an almost equal army of Dreadlords.
Why do you think the 3500+ Channelers the lightside had in AMOL were nerfed down to about 600, at most? Because the Dark Side did a really **** job of doing anything to actually neuter them. Just like here, where the Trolloc invasion is immediately neutered because the four Borderland Nations just slaughter them.

I think the main issue is that the player is smart enough to spam channelers and knows how to use them effectively. This is what makes literally any combat one-sided, as most of the enemy army will die to fireballs and lightning before they make it to your army, and then your screen of mid-to-high end units (Maidens of the Spear) will murder them. Cannons would really just break it even more, but if AI were given large numbers of them, it might start evening out the problems with channelers. No army, whether attacking on the field or defending in a castle, can handle 150+ channelers just slaughtering them for at least a minute before they even engage.

I suppose a good balance would be to slow down the speed of the beam attacks, like fireball and balefire, because fireballs basically act as artillery, and apparently balefire is just slow enough that you could dodge it if you were agile enough.

I think I got up to level 30 or 35 before I stopped, and I never got balefire. Even cheating myself a few extra proficiency points a level, you're only going to get about 2 or 3, maybe 4 points in Channeling per level beyond level 30. It will take you AGES to get balefire.

    The worst faction?

The funny thing about Sarranids is that they somehow repeatedly present a credible threat to the Rhodoks I've allied myself with because they respawn and regroup like rabbits and our stupid Marshal will never capitalize on our massive siege defense victories. We crush a 700-800 man army, and the Rhodoks just fall back into a defensive position. Its infuriating. They've even managed to take one of the Khergit's cities!

    Tournament trouble, need advice!

F1, F2. Then they follow you. Assuming it is not a 1v1 with teams, sit back and let everyone else kill each other. Then mop them up.
If it IS a 1v1 with teams, press F1, then F3. Then charge a few seconds later, so no aggro is on you.

    Guardsman Naming

While I generally hate the tournament Guardsmen, sometimes the name generation is funny. For example, it appears Jesus' second coming is in Jelkala, as a Guardsman. Click to enlarge. I feel entitled to have him fight on my side. Rolf should become a saint after this, being touched by Jesus...

    Sacrifice/Messanger quest.

I never did the quest, but I'd probably just go and hire a random schmuck and send him on his way. As for the relationship drop, all lords hate it when you back out of a high-profile quest, like court intrigue or merchant murder. Or you fail the really hard spy quest.
