  1. Not working with GOG version

    Aha! Thank you, sir!
  2. Not working with GOG version

I've bought Warband off of GOG, and to avoid the "could not find" whatever error, I had to put the WSE into my main warband folder.  Now it's demanding a serial key when I run it.  What gives?
  3. Late-Game Improvement Ideas

I'm all for adding immersion and non-combat stuff, but please don't add something that "ends" the game.  One of the reasons I love M&B (and it's spiritual predecessor, Sid Meier's Pirates!) so much is that there's no story - the player makes their own story as the play the game.

I think that if you have player death, then there's no real consequence, since you can just reload a safe.  Permadeath averts this, but unless you make the world persistent (like Dwarf Fortress) having to start all the way over is just irritating rather than immersive.
  4. Mark of Kings??

And that is what I love about M&B, Sid Meier's Pirates!, and truly wide-open sandbox games.  There isn't an overarching story that beats you over the head, unlike crappy AAA games - it says, here you are, have fun!
  5. Version 0.27 Development Feedback: Oathbound System

First time I used freelancer was in the Clash of Kings mod, and the lord I joined did nothing but wander around the same stretch of coastline.  Tried it again in 1257 AD and had fun with it.  I might not use it all the time in Silverstag, but it's nice for the roleplaying possibilities and potential early-game boost.
  6. and everything is breaking apart..

i am not surprised that nearly everyone declared war on us now. and i am okay with that. i only came to whine about the complete and utterly useless NPC lords
they are riding circles with their complete host in the far nord while our villages get raided on the rhodok border. King Graveth's warparty is laying siege to uxhal and dhirim and nobody seems to care. i am the only one holding our banner up there, and my elite troops are dwindling (as is my money as every business is under sequestration now)

    Thaaaat's Warband!
  7. I'm losing and I'm loving it.

I find that using manual blocking encourages me not to block but rather to try and stay on the offensive.

And, if you are losing and truly loving it, try Dwarf Fortress if you haven't already.
  8. "Nothing to Eat!"

At the time, I was storekeeper.  I made Marnid storekeeper to see if that would fix it, but still got the message.
  9. "Nothing to Eat!"

If there's another thread about this, I apologize.  I didn't see one.  I have a small warband, around 19 or so, all Swadian, with myself, Bunduk, Jeremus, Marnid and Firentis.  Out of nowhere, I get a penalty to morale with the message "Your party has nothing to eat!", and Bunduk starts...
  10. SP Medieval 1468 AD Middle Europe - new historical mod

    Definitely downloading.  My favorite era!

After playing for a while, I like the mod, and I like the setting.  It needs work, still, and I hope you won't abandon it.  I'm a little frustrated with getting started.  Every party of looters is over 30 strong and is way better equipped than I possibly can be.
  11. [B] TEatRC Warband 1.134

Glad to hear this is still being worked on.  I've been on a bit of a Renaissance binge lately.
  12. What are the funniest/best moments in the game that you have experienced?

I was in multiplayer, andi kicked a teammate and he fell off the battlements and died, Hehe

During one siege some years back, I had the bright idea of leaping off the battlements to fight some archers, while shouting "I'M BATMAN!" I had stop-motion screenshots of it on my old PC.

Also, I used to occasionally rename my character Hogan, so I could holler "HULKAMANIA'S RUNNIN' WILD, BROTHER!" whenever I took a castle.

I don't have anything under the subject, but I love the rag doll physics! I'm sure someone has screenshots of those funny rag dolls .

On my old PC, I had a screenshot of a fight inside a keep where a rhodok crossbowman was on a bench, literally bent over backwards.

When I played 1257 AD, I had a LEEEEEEEROY JJJJEEEEEENKINS moment where I charged a bunch of Mamelukes, on my own, and was promptly unhorsed and killed for my stupidity.
  14. General Feedback & Venting

I've been thinking about this for a while, and would it be possible to modify the behavior of NPC parties so that they surrender when faced with overwhelming numbers/quality of troops?
  15. General Feedback & Venting

Oh, good, so it's not just me, then.  One thing I would like to add, is that I know you seem to get a lot of requests to add "Freelancer" or something to that effect, and I for one wouldn't mind if this never happened.  I tried it with whatever that giant Song of Ice and Fire mod is called and it seemed so bloody boring, having to watch my employer run all over Westeros and not actually doing anything.

Oh, one other thing I'd add. Commissioning weapons or armour to be made. Make it grossly expensive, like 4x or 5x normal cost, but I'd sure love to be able to commission the equipment I like for myself and my companions. Especially now that the increased number of types of weapons dilutes the numbers of particular weapons in the general pool.

I agree with this - it's closer to reality, especially with armour.

The only thing that annoys about this mod, so far, is the heraldry.  A lot of it doesn't really look medieval - it just looks like silly t-shirt designs.  I mean, I banner that says "WARHAMMER"? WTF? Why not just have the hammer?
  17. seeking for new medieval music

I haven't used this, but you might want to try Utrehd's Music pack. http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,115960.0.html
  18. Any activity on this mod?

That's sad.  The other mods add way too much crap to the game.
