Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Old Discussion Thread

So pumped for this!  And I love the time frame it's set in.

I want to be a woman.

It doesn't affect me much either way because I always play as men, but I know there is at least one female NPC you can recruit into your party.  Doesn't this already conflict with the idea that women didn't have a place on the battlefield in this "historical" game?  I use the word historical loosely because, yeah sure maybe it's not a fantasy world but it's far from being realistic or historically pure by any measure.

I personally think they didn't put women in just because it saved them some time and resources on adding and/or changing content for female characters.

Fire & Sword - more of the same?

I bought BECAUSE it will be "more of the same".  Too many game series progressively get more terrible these days.

    In-Game Notepad

I think it would be handy if there was an in-game notepad where a player could write down important or arbitrary information.  Often times the quest and game log doesn't keep track of some things that I find important.  It would be handy for traders especially, being able to keep track of trade...

Question about the old parrying animation

Yes, those were cool animations.  I especially liked parrying with a shield.  It makes me very sad that there are those nice animations that aren't being used.  They really should be brought back.  The deeper the combat, the better.

Redo the terrain code with the same keys, but disable the no-grass option.

Sorry, but how do I go about doing that?  I'm still learning the ropes.

Modding Q&A [For Quick Questions and Answers]

In one of my custom maps, the static grass is missing.  I do not have grass density turned down.  What should I do to get it back?  Thanks in advance.

    Tracking skill improvement

I never follow tracks because it's too tedious.   I for one often find the need to follow tracks though.  Either when I'm tracking down looter parties for the guildmaster or trying catch up with a lord.

And I don't see anything unrealistic about it.  It should be more up to my character's skill than mine to follow a group of tracks.

    Tracking skill improvement

I think a handy addition to the tracking skill would be the ability to right-click a set of tracks and auto-follow them.  Maybe not allow this until a certain skill level in tracking though.

    New minor campaign map features

I thought these were good suggestions also but it seems they are just going to be swamped by inane threads with stupid suggestions, i.e. samurai.

    New minor campaign map features

I was trying to think of some handy features that should be included while navigating the world map, and came up with these: 1.  Be able to shift-click multiple points on the map to make a custom route. 2.  Be able to set your travel speed (within your skill level obviously).  Would be handy...

    A "Follow" button

    I agree completely.

Change 'Charge' at Start of Battle

Totally, my troops should wait for MY order to charge, not blindly run towards the fight.  Especially the archers as you pointed out.

Change 'Charge' at Start of Battle

It's such a simple change, but I think and important one.  I am still sort of slow with Warband's command interface, and I hate seeing my cavalry get slaughtered as they charge alone into the enemy because I couldn't issue the 'Hold' command in time.  I think it'd be good for new players who haven't learned the command menu as well.

Change 'Charge' at Start of Battle

A small suggestion.  It's slightly annoying to me how your troops instantly charge at the enemy when a battle begins.  I think if they were set to the 'Hold' command by default it would make more sense.  This would be especially useful for players who play more defensively. Maybe even consider...

    [Suggestion] Using daggers as backstabbers

Why should just daggers get some insanely powerful instant kill?  What's next, the swords have a special attack that can lop heads off with one attack?  And why do you think the dagger be a one use item?  I understand it's so that you can't spam backstab but it doesn't make any sense.  Therefore it shouldn't be implemented at all.

There is a reason why daggers aren't in multiplayer, because it's dumb to bring a knife to a sword fight.

    [Suggestion] Using daggers as backstabbers

HA a sword being too flexible to stab someone in the back is ridiculous.  I still fail to see a point to why a dagger is better suited to stab someone.  Consider the extra weight a sword has behind it.  Like what was said, daggers only have their deadly, sinister reputation as an assassination weapon because they can be concealed, which is completely useless on a battlefield.  I personally think only a fool would drop their sword to pull out a dagger.

    Too gimmicky and gamey.

    [Suggestion] Using daggers as backstabbers

Just stab them in the back with a sword.  I think you'll get better results.

    New Perspective on Helmets...

I agree that full faced helmets should have negative side effects.  But I think instead of actually seeing blackness, the helmets should just have negative modifiers in their stats.  Such as, I don't know, a penalty to all ranged accuracy or something to that effect.  That way it would work in both perspective modes and be easier to implement.
