  1. What bandit/outlaw type do you find the most dangerous?

    Sea Raiders.

I was leaning towards Tundra or Forrest bandits but truth be told... I really only have trouble with forest bandits when I go looking for it, Tundra bandits I can pretty much avoid entirely just by staying away from Khudan early game.... Sea Raiders on the other hand...

They nab me around Sargoth, Thir, Whercheg, and Rivacheg... thats 4 towns I have a chance of running into them near (yes Rivacheg and Wercheg are the worst)
  2. Stay at war - until the bitter end?

The only thing I can really think of to help you is to have your own personal war...

While you are in your own personal war you have the advantage of not having any of your towns besieged/raided however you have the disadvantage of not being able to get any help whatsoever.

This means that it is best to do this while they be busy with another faction and can't gang up on you... It will also lower your relation with your king, and give them cause to attack your kingdom provoking a full scale war.
  3. End-game not working out so well

    Orion 说:
They're good to have, you just need to wage a popular war and not let the enemy molest your lands at the same time.

This is why I like having a few lords that don't like me... They don't show up for campaign... and my lands don't get molested because I chose to keep the village near their castle for myself and they defend it because they are patrolling around their fiefs rather than fighting in the war
  4. End-game not working out so well

Well your first and second point are related.

When your lords hate you.. they quit following you. Spam feasts or since you are playing diplomacy and send gifts but get at least a few back in the positives and you can have a chance at expanding.

As to other nations being constantly against you... Get some RTR, with right to rule they tend to think twice about taking you on, or at least wait till someone else does so they can get at you while you are busy fighting another war. Yes the alliances are annoying but they will break down eventually.

Your money issues I find strange... specially for diplomacy seeing as how I tend to make money hand over fist in there... Forget about trading at this stage, you should have a town, and a few villages to feed you income. Make sure your town and any town not controlled by an enemy faction has a dyeworks or some other enterprise... if you are still burnt out on cash then you have some serious issues... likely too many troops.

As a side thought on this... you know one of your ministers acts as a treasurer right? Your weekly income goes to him not to you...

Find a ransom broker for your companions?

I know the Sultinate likes its cav... but never quite seen this problem even with campaign difficulty set to its highest... perhaps this is a flaw in diplomacy?

And finally... Don't blame Talewords... aside from the Sarranid thing which I think might be more because of your mod rather than the game itself none of this stuff is a bug or really working any way not intended.
  5. Do you play with equal damage?

The hardist thing about 100% dammage is that the AI atatck the player by defalt. and it allway aims for the head.
It only has about a 1/100 chance of hitting you but 25 bandits with 4 javlens/throwing axes each is 100 projectile flying at you head. so stay under cover untill thay have used up all there throwing wepons on the shields of your troops. becuse 1 javlen/axe in the face is all it takes to end the battle.

I don't think the damage settings does anything to AI targeting priorities. In my case, anyone that comes into their vision first will be targeted. They will only switch targets if someone else hits them or gets close enough to them.

As far as I know it doesn't change the targeting either but I think the problem he is getting at is that instead of that bolt/jav hitting you for 30 damage (as it would on 1/2) it suddenly becomes a 1 hit KO.

And yes the AI does always go for headshots... Other than arrow spam I cannot think of a time I have ever gotten hit somewhere other than the head (or at least upper half of the torso)
  6. Luck

Not sure on what all the retirements are... I can only seem to remember two of them... mind you I don't remember them exactly.

One was something about having just enough gold to buy a plot of land or something to that effect, and I spend my days in the tavern getting drunk and telling stories of my adventures.

The other, and the one I get when I conquer all or almost all of Caladria just gives me a bunch of babble about how I will forever be known as "Lord of [insert town/castle here]" or Count or something I forget exactly what it says.

  7. anyone else hates troop morale?

    Rewjeo 说:
Y'know, there should probably be a morale difficulty option, as well.

There really is no need for it... if you take even the slightest precautions you have no issues with moral.

Those precautions being the ones mentioned above, high leader, less than full party, troops from neutral factions, and one I didn't see listed... keep only the companions who get along with eachother. The bickering lowers moral I believe.
  8. How do you stop yourself from quitting and starting over?

I rarely every just up and quit and start over... I do however set one game aside and start a new one with a different build and do something different for a while but I always come back to the first.

When I do finally just "quit" it is usually when I am at the point where I have taken everything over and there are just a few lords to hunt down to make the last faction go away... Nord or Rhodok armies I may actually keep playing and hunt down... Khergit I always just say "I got your castles" and quit because I have no patience to be running down their tiny little parties that are cruising around at 9+

Any other faction it depends on the mood I am in... if I feel like playing for another hour or two I will, if I am tired I will just end it and start a new game.
  9. How many kills does your char have?

    Day 12, 13 kills...

All looters I think.. had a small bit of problem runnin into them at the start, will likely still be at 13 kills by day 30.
  10. Mod like Native Expansion?

If I remember correctly there is a Native Expansion for warband but it is in beta atm...

Other than that I cannot help as I did not play native expansion for vanilla so I wouldn't know if there are any mods that are like it here.
  11. Do you play tweaked?

Generally while I am playing I have a pot of coffee brewing and a very large cup in front of me so yes I do get a bit tweakish while I play...

But on to what you meant...

I fit my tweaks into two categories... the first being the ones I use almost every game.

These are things like raising the party size per point of leadership to 7 instead of 5 (only gives 20 extra men at max)
    Arrows/bolts to 50
    All thrown to 10
    Tavern keepers buy prisoners
Meet the guild master (I get lost too much to not use this)
Meet the village elder (same reason)
Decrease the time it takes to read a book to 72 hours
    Battle Continuation
And thanks to the new TweakMB the select quest option (I LOVE THIS)
Increase exp from 2.0 to 4.0 (no that does not double the exp gained...)
    Double the tournament bet amounts

The second list I just use for goofing off this includes things such as:
    Exp set to 10.0
    arrows/bolts set to 500
    repeating crossbows
arrow/bolt damage increased to some random number (usually gets 100+ damage instead of 2 or 3)
not really a tweak but set all my attributes to 999... that can be really fun
set all skills to 15 max instead of 10
and my work in progress... epic armor tweak... I edit all the armors to be half the weight they currently are while offering 3x the protection... this one needs desperately to be combined with my arrow/bolt (and thrown) damage tweak above or it will take forever to kill people
  12. Mods that dont require a super computer to play?

    Intel i7 2600k 3.4 quad core...

And because it will inevitably come up...

    Windows 7 ultimate
    GeForce GTX 260
    6GB DDR 3 Ram

I never have figured out what exactly the problem is... the partition that I have my old 1.113 version on runs just fine... for some reason it is only 1.134 that I have the problem with.

Not sure about the OP though
  13. Mods that dont require a super computer to play?

Just wanted to toss this in there but have you tried playing in DX7 instead of DX9?

I only ask because, like you my computer teeters on playability for M&B (I have no idea why... spec wise it shouldnt and it runs more intensive games smoothly) but running in DX7 though nowhere near as "pretty" allows me to play without any stuttering or anything of that sort no matter what mod.
  14. my companions are always angry!

    Argeus the Paladin 说:
^ Which is apparently what many kings did in RL

I would say those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it but every time I think of that I think of all the kings who were killed... by their own subjects... Fortunately it is generally not the first king but rather someone further down the line that meets said fate and as M&B is not generational... I have no need to worry about peasant uprisings and unruly wives with cake fetishes.

That said, nobody ever built an empire out of a mead hall... off the backs of drunken brawlers maybe but only when their destruction was focused somewhere other than the hall...
  15. Number of Corpses

As was decided in the last thread on this (which as I post is still on the front page..) it may be possible to mod this but there is the possibility that the numbers are hard coded so we cannot.
  16. Automatic Crossbows, How to do.

    VikingHaag 说:
I'm not a modder. I only found this things and added them to my item_kinds1.txt file and changed the number on the second line of the txt file, the one who indicates the total number of items. And it didn't replace any existing crossbows. I still find them all + this ones.
Anyway i honestly like more the crossbows as they are above. A repeating siege crossbow is WAYY too unbalanced. Even for a cheater like me. These crossbows are actually balanced. Have you tried them btw?
I really like them. Just too bad i eat up 60 bolts in less then 2 minutes. ( had to tweak bolt "pack" size to actually use some of those to their real power)

Yes I knew it would not replace the current crossbows... I could have made that more clear I suppose, but I would also guess that if you were to get a Chu-ko-nu in the game after adding these... you would have the same model as a hunting crossbow... am I right?

Also by using the way I suggested instead, they are somewhat ballanced. How they are balanced is that you are NOT the only one with the crossbow now... I have made my own repeating crossbows before, usually out of the siege crossbow but as big as an advantage it gave me being able to fire 5 bolts before reloading, it also had terrible, terrible, results when I went to war with the Rhodoks... the reason being those Rhodok Sharpshooters who routinely tear people to shreds also had the modified crossbow meaning they were able to fire 5 bolts before reloading allowing them to rain down the death on us just that much faster.
  17. Surprisingly effective troops.

The last unit to really shock me... would have to be swadian militia.

It was some time ago but I attacked a lord with a vastly superior force (in terms of numbers) his army however having been recently crushed was mostly low-tier troops... a few recruits.. about half milita and the rest infantry/man-at-arms

The attack started well, my archers neutralized most of the men at arms before they ever reached the lines... my infantry took care of the rest. We then marched on to meet the rest of the enemy somewhere... I saw the enemy in the distance and not thinking of tactics as I had higher tier/heavily shielded troops and they had a ton of milita I just gave the order for my infantry to charge across this vast plane between us and them... they were cut in half by the time they reached the enemy lines... all by swadian milita just sheer spam from their crossbows had killed half of my infantry!

With that I ordered my companions (companion cavalry) to follow me to go assist the other half which was being surrounded... we found ourselves to be the new target of the militia, my horse was the only to survive the first barrage (chargers tend to do that...) but it did not matter... despite my thick armor they picked away at my health 3-4 damage at a time before landing a fatal blow to the head... my companions fell fairly quickly after.

Does my inability to pee standing up make a difference in whether or not I have a good or bad point?

I want to say yes but then I am reminded that I am divorced... with good reason I should suppose.

    VikingHaag 说:
Either go Diplomacy mod, or tweak the relation when assigning fiefs. I put my minimun to 0 and max to 6.
    My lords love me.

While I am certainly an advocate of lowering the penalty for assigning fiefs to other lords, I must also suggest to be careful when negating it entirely... Changing this does not only affect how your lords feel towards you, but also how AI lords feel towards their liege, this means that the only lords who will readily defect because of "mistreatment" are the ones who that king felt no need to award with a fief.

My honest suggestion to the OP is to do what I do, that is to have two sets of lords.

Set A are the loyal lot... these generally comprise of 7-12 lords. These lords are not really fiercely loyal to me or anything of that sort... they simply have positive relations with me. I maintain these relations by offering them fiefs any time the relation drops below say... 10. I also help to maintain this by making this group of lords all ones with common values (watch who you lose relation with when assigning fiefs and who has no change to figure out this... or talk to em). As I generally will experience no loss with the other 11 lords if I assign the fief to this one I see no reason in doing it to boost my relation.

Set B... are the useful idiots. They hold lands, though very few. Point in fact I only grant them when their relation gets lower than -30... if that cannot be solved then I will get rid of one or two (and take the relation hit) and disperse their lands as I see fit.

What this does in the end is gives me a good dozen or so lords that will ALWAYS come when I hold a feast, or am marshaling my army.. the other lords tend to be no-shows for both as they despise me. They are however useful... they may not like me, but they WILL fight any stray enemy lords roaming my lands looking to loot a village... this is why I consider them the useful idiots.
  19. how to run a kingdom?

Your minister should have an option along the lines of "I would like to grant one of my vassals a fief"

If he does not, then I assume that when you became a king you chose to promote a prominent citizen as your minister... in which case you can either get married then switch him out for your wife, or just talk to him tell him you want him to step down as minister and appoint one of your companions to the job.
  20. weapon mastery

    VikingHaag 说:
From what i know (my character is pure meele),weapon mastery affects the attack speed and (reticule aim size ). Damage is solely related to Power Throw\Strike\Draw. Crossbow damage may be affected by proficiency.

And for you question. I'm pretty sure they deal the same damage but one's aim i a pixel more closed than the other.

Try editing a character export so you have 10 power draw and 0 proficiency in archery... not only will it take you an hour and a half to draw the damned arrow but you will do at best 20ish damage with it (assuming war bow no prefix and regular arrows vs a looter) possibly a little more depending on str/agi (one of those two affects missile power I forget which)

Point is proficiency most cetainly affects damage for ranged weapons as well as melee.
