Changes from classic to Warband you dislike

If your wanting a very well done and polished Native you should check out the Floris (2.54) mod. To put it in perspective its a 2.5GB mod that does everything from changing so many UI tweaks (simple tables showing faction-faction relations, comanion overview showing all skills and equipment) to giving you an overhaul of the tournament system, ability to travel by sea and (optional) reworked troop tree, ability to be a recruit in a Lords army , overworked AI system to make them use formations etc.

For me its the UI tweaks and general gameplay enhancements that make it the best out there. I've played Pendor and stuff but theres just too much I miss in Floris to stick with other mods.

It doesnt fix everything but it does a damn near job of it.

Quick Questions/Quick Answers (Unofficial 'Ask Questions Here' Q&A Thread)

Your standard answer will be to reinstall the game and Floris but you need to give more detail. Are you suing floris lite, expanded, full? What do you mean changing the arenas? You tried modding it etc?

Beginner's Guide and Manual to Floris [Expanded Unofficial FAQ]

Shameless bumping and thread necromancy. Mainly because Ive added a boatload of text.

Also need your ideas. Going to change format to two main sections: Quick start guide and Detailed Guides.
First guide from the old Manual post was Freelancer. I thought maybe the next being tournaments.

    Any other requests?

    A singleplayer manual

Are there any guides on how the maths work for upgrading units?

    Training l5 troops

Training is best done in 'batches'. Don't have a mix of units. Get them from level 1 then wait until ALL are ready to 2 and then the same. Training distributes XP in uneven ways. Its quicker and more efficient to level up as a full group. I tested this .

    Being Successful

Always have excess 'passive' income. Yield from business/land > troop maintenance (including food for morale) and you'll never run into any problems.

The most profitable strategy i've found early game is to sign up as a mercenary to a King (gives 90% of your upkeep costs), raid towns that you are never going to recruit from and sink the money into land/business. Becoming a lord just costs far too much in having to keep troops . If I have $$$ and wan't to keep troops I just buy a ship and stick them all in that.

Generally speaking either get manhunters or I4 Vaegir infantry and increase prisoner management as high as you can for quick cash. Keep your group small and disband everything you don't need. Upgrading is very costly thats why I recommend having a passive income so you can splurge whatever you want. I'll admit I've used tweakMB to increase prisoner management count, I reason my 50 men can guard more than 15.

Get looting high in companions for party bonus. The 'junk' really adds up.
Good healing skills - less cost on retraining.
Travel between and from tournaments in spare time.

And yeah, trainer is HUGEly important. But don't 'overlevel' troops to wear it costs you too much to do it.
But I disagree with not getting personal kills. Generally I am very good at archery and one handed. I personally attack (using blunt weapons for capture if I want) the tier 6/7 troops because they can rip your units to shreds, give LOTS of experience and gold.

    Skilling companions to be lords

You might want to confirm this but I'm sure I read somewhere that your characters will never level up once you make them Lords and you can never take them back - reason I never use them as lords.

    Land renting and population increases?

Is there any way to mod and increase the max (useful) land you can own? After about 150 acres the surplus thing kicks in and there isn't really a point in creating nay more land. How do I increase the cap?

Hm as a work around you could download tweakMB and edit the morale boost to say 100 for each point of leadership until you find a fix?

    Editing out units?

Excellent thank you very much. Ill just edit my original so people can easily see the answer.

Is that your modified Black Khergit Horsemen?

And do they have stats and equipment, or just equipment modified?

Use image tags, but without the stars (had to use them otherwise I couldn't properly post it.)
    [img*]<image url here>[/img*]

If your using Chrome right click on the image and "open image in new tab". That gives you just the image and no surrounding webpage. That's the URL you are looking for.

For other browsers I don't know sorry.

Bug Reports & Known Issues [v2.54]

    proliberate 说:
When defeating Kings in battle, there is never a notification that they have managed to escape, yet they always escape. Lords will always either present a notification of escape, or an opportunity to take them prisoner.

Maybe it's save game related? I always get the notification.  I've never captured one yet right enough.

If your not getting a notification then that's odd but it's a 70% chance that they escape.

Hi, I am having an issue with the mod. I tried searching for the same problem but I couldn't find it.

I am at roughly day 55 of my campaign and it's going really well. Yesterday when I was playing, my computer instantly crashed or something. So i booted my PC up, loaded the mod - loaded the saved game and was moving out of Sargoth when I realised that my party needs food.

When i entered the goods merchant in Sargoth, he only had a pair of boots.(The boots were placed in his second slot too).

I thought maybe Sargoth is just bugged but every single Town I entered was like this :/ All villages have the same 'boots' as the towns too.

I tried to a new game - went into Sargoth and Tihr but everything was alright so it's just my saved game I think.

Does anyone have any sort of idea how I can fix this please? I'm doing so good on this save game and it would be so annoying if I had to restart all over

    Thanks for any help.

TL;DR: All towns & villages have no food. Horse merchants have nothing too I think :/

Lol. At least you've managed to get rid of that butter glitch XD.

Try raiding a couple of towns and see if you just get boots. If nothing try waiting about for a few weeks to see if stuff resets.

    Use of ships

It's also a good method of getting rid of your high level troops and cutting wages .

Path finding is an issue and your men can quite regularly walk off the boat and drown. So be careful.

I'm finding trading is oblivious to Floris..

Actually it might not be Floris.  Trading was nerfed in  warband 1.142.

I tried a shortcut and it went badly. Has anyone got an original entry for trp_bandit_e_black_khergit_horseman from the troops.txt file?

The best way I've found is to fight . In my opinion it's waste of points to level up agility and then weapon master. A common error is that weapon master limits how far you can level proficiencies. If you are level 2 in weapon master you can still reach level 400 in proficiencies just by fighting.

You notice the difference if you set combat speed to to slow in the options. But otherwise it's too fast for us humans to really notice.

Are you serious? You don't actually need to put points in 'weapon master' to get weapons prof's to raise past certain points?

I always thought you have to raise weapon master to unlock the max level xD

I'll still probably raise Agility for player speed though.
Lol yup. I did it as well.

You can always edit your character using the export/import method and reassign the points (But not cheating ! its tempting)

One thing though is you only get so many levels, I don't know the max but say its about 50.
You have only 50 points to assign. That means you can quite max everything so be careful with the distribution !
