  1. Playing it dishonourably - who has done it?

As Blackfish noted, playing a dishonorable bandit makes the beginning of the game easier. You can just raid caravans and villages whenever you need cash or food. I think it tends to make the later game more difficult, however. Unlike Honorable lords, who will like you the more your honor goes up, Debauched lords and the like don't care if your honor is very low.
  2. Geroia

Alayen mentions he comes from Vaegir lands across the mountains. Matheld says she is from Nord lands across the sea to the North, and that the Nords originally came to Caladria at the behest of the old Caladric Emperors.

Apparently the only factions that are "native" Caladrians are the Swadians, Rhodoks, and possibly the Sarranids.
  3. same faction morale bonus

    Justout 说:
Not sure if it's true, but I always assumed that when it said "Morale bonus for Nord troops" for example, that it meant that any Nords in your party would RECEIVE that amount. As in the entire party wouldn't receive a bonus, just those types of troops.

It always seemed to me that if and when anybody deserted, it'd be the ones with the negative bonus. I think it influences individual troops, not the whole party.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

No, I think you're right, that's what I was saying earlier.

For instance at one time, when I was a Vaegir vassal, I was running around with a combination of Swadian and Vaegir troops. Vaegir and Swadia went to war, and I saw the "Morale penalty for Swadian troops: -40" pop up in my morale report. But the warband's morale was still 99. Sure enough, when I looked at the individual Swadian troops, their morale was only reported as "Average" while the Vaegir troops had "Very High" morale.
  4. same faction morale bonus

I think that sometimes I've seen things like "Morale for Nord troops: -30" when I have no Nord troops in my warband. I believe your companions don't count as a particular "nationality" when calculating morale. I only think it shows this penalty, even if you don't have the appropriate kind of troops, to let you know that if you recruit them, they will be at a disadvantage. The penalty isn't actually applying to your warband; and even when it does apply, it doesn't apply to your whole warband, but only to those specific faction troops.

At least, I think I understand what you're saying. You have a warband full of Swadians, and when you go to your morale report page, there are a couple lines saying stuff like "Morale for Khergit troops: -5" "Morale for Nord troops: -10," is that right?
  5. The Bull**** thread! What's the worst BS the game has handed you?

My first ever game, I was playing a female Noble. I signed up with the Vaegirs, married a Vaegir noble, and spent a while as a Vaegir noble, beating the crap out of Nords and Khergits. When I decided it was time to start my own kingdom, all I had was Nelag Castle and Sungentche Castle. I captured Ichamur and named my new realm Kingdom of the Mountains. I was all excited to finally start building my first empire.

Then the game crashed and the save game was unrecoverable.
  6. Recommend me some mods

I'm not sure if I should be posting this here, so if not, mods please move my topic to the appropriate forum. :) I would like some mod recommendations! I've been playing mostly Native and Diplomacy with TweakMB and some text editing to modify the game, but I'd like to try out some more dramatic...
  7. Effects on lords leaving me?

    Aqtai 说:
I've tried the feasting route. The problem is that only 6 or 7 lords (the ones who like me anyway) turned up. I tried getting the others to follow me back to my capital or ordering them togo there, they invariably stay less than a day then go.

Is there any other way to make Lords like you? I tried bribing them with fiefs, but that just makes all the others hate me more.

You can let them get into battles where they are horribly outmatched and then go and save them. That's pretty situational, though.

Having a very high honor rating helps you out with upstanding lords.

Best thing I've found seems to be to prepare for starting your kingdom from day 1; get as much honor as you can, and whenever you fight lords in war, release them right away for a big rep bonus and honor bonus. Then you can get a very high reputation with them and try to recruit them later.

Oh yes, if you turn your companions into vassals, they almost inevitably seem to have very good relations with you; especially the ones that weren't nobles in the first place.
  8. Effects on lords leaving me?

The Native mod is designed in such a way that you will always have lords unhappy with you and with each other. That conflict is what makes the game work. Otherwise, you could just make everyone happy with you all the time and then make peace with all the other kingdoms. Constant feasting is the best way in Native to keep your lords happy, but since you won't do that... you'd better just get used to having only a few loyal lords.

One thing that's nice is that if a lord defects, they will only take their territory with them if they own a castle or town. So if you're worried about a lord getting lower relationship with you over time, just assign him villages.
  9. leaving a rebel faction half way

This is how I think it works... keep in mind, I've never done this myself, but this is my understanding.

When you take on a rebel leader in your group you automatically go to war with the main faction (in your example, you'd go to war with the Vaegirs). You are considered the leader of this faction; you control any lords who might join you and how to distribute any fiefs you capture. Once the main faction is eliminated, you turn control of the faction over to the claimant and become a regular lord of the faction.

If you abandon the quest to overthrow the old king in the middle, your claimant will leave your party and YOU will be in charge of the rebel faction now, permanently.

I don't think there is a way in the game, without modding or cheating, to add extra factions that you don't control.
  10. Multiple fronts

Capture enemy kings and marshals, if possible, and then don't ransom them. When a kingdom's ruler is imprisoned, it really seems to make the whole kingdom fall to pieces (surprise!).
  11. Evangeline, Nation-Breaker - An AAR (Chapter 37 Posted)

I'm liking this AAR. Evangeline sounds kind of like a psycho.

Maybe asking in the wrong thread but how is Diplomacy for bugs?  I play realistic, is it possible to play diplomacy that way as well or do lots of corrupt save games appear.  Also how hard of installation is it?  I'm not too worried about having my current game in diplomacy I can start over.  Thanks alot.

I haven't really found any bugs in Diplomacy that weren't already in Native. I'm sure there are some, but nothing game-breaking.

Installation is very, very simple. It's a totally separate module, so your Native savegames won't be affected. You won't be able to import your actual savegames, afaik, but you can export and import your characters from Native.
  13. Businesses in Towns

    Lord Brutus 说:
The guild master is on the streets, different location in each city. Look for a guy not moving.

Sometimes he's a pain in the ass to find. Usually he's wearing nice clothes, too.

There are some mods that add an additional option to the town menu, "Visit Guild Master," which will automatically take you to him. Diplomacy, for example. Which I highly recommend for anyone.

Just new to the game but I am having trouble finding out how to start businesses in the towns.

Speak to the town's Guild Master and choose the option, "I would like to purchase land in this town for a productive enterprise."

You will need at minimum, a reputation of 0 with the town. If your rep is negative, you will need to do quests for the Guild Master until it's at least zero again.
  15. what's a good production house for Reyvadin?

Different cities have different economies, with different surpluses and deficits of materials.

For instance, Curow and Ahmerrad always have cheap iron, so Ironworks built in those cities are quite profitable for the price. Shariz is a great place for a linen weavery. And so on.

However, many cities don't have any particularly good surpluses/deficits. In those cases, building a dyeworks is your best bet. Reyvadin is one of those cities.

But as stormcricket and Blackfish have pointed out, a dyeworks will reliably produce about 500-600 denars of profit a week, without much variation from city to city. Except the Rhodok towns; velvet is cheap in the Kingdom of Rhodoks for some reason, so don't build dyeworks there. Also, Bariyye appears to be the only city that has cheap Dyes, so that will be the only place where you can reliably get 600+ denar profit from your dyeworks.
  16. Best Starting faction

I think Vaegirs are the easiest faction to start with, especially for a beginner. Taiga Bandits are pretty easy to level up on, and you can go right over to Sea Raiders when you're a little higher level. The Vaegir cavalry and archers are pretty good, though their infantry isn't great, you can always just ride west a bit and recruit some Nords. Or ride south and recruit some Swadians if you want those Knights. Also, the Vaegirs only have borders with the Nords, Khergits and whoever happens to have Pinataville (Dhirim) at the time.

Is there a way to provoke a war between your own faction and another? I've joined up with the Vaegirs, but they haven't been at war in about 5 months and I'm getting kinda tired of running around doing tournaments and hunting bandits.

Try taking quests from the Vaegir lords. Eventually one (probably a debauched or martial lord) will give you a quest to raid an enemy caravan to provoke a war. I think by default, that quest only pops once every 180 days or something, however.

If there aren't any lords of the right personality among the Vaegirs... you might be bored for a little while longer.

The Diplomacy module also gives you the ability to convince your King to declare war on another kingdom.

So many arrows and so few ladders/towers.
  19. Lord Personalities

Whoops, total search fail on my part. Thanks for the links.
  20. Lord Personalities

This mainly concerns the Native module, but also Diplomacy... Do the personalities of the different Lords change from game to game, or are they always the same? Ditto for their relationships to their Kings? E.g. Is Boyar Vuldrat always going to be "cunning" and hate King Yaroglek?
