  1. A singleplayer manual

Wow, I take a break for a while, and the thread gets to 19 pages! Ok, so the break was several months long...

Glad to see you're keeping it going, Galdus!

Well that would be no weirder than hearing "I will drink from your skull!" from 200 yards away.  I mean when Sea Raiders ambush you, shouldn't you spawn in battle with them?

I tend to have a Nord or two in my party, so I always assume it's them. Or Ymira, she's bloodthirsty, that one.

Besides, with 20 raiders in harmony (lovely singing voices) you could hear it...
  3. Is it possible to change the following?

With the whole 'guard spawns right behind you', well he DID just spot you coming in! If he wasn't close enough to stab you, it would be even more wierd. Although it can get annoying.

TweakMB used to have the ability to remove or even give a positive boost to relations when ever you give a fief to one of your lords. However, with the 1.126, TweakMB does not work right until kefka gets around to doing it. So just be patient, it is summer vacation after all, go out side, get away from that old computer!

It's only summer vacation on the wrong side of the world, you know.

    (snip)
    - power draw's bonus damage is capped at 72%, but points still improve the accuracy and how long you can keep a bow drawn.
I am finally reading this excellent thread and noticed that on page 2 there is the above statement about Powerdraw. This seems to contradict the OP guide and the in-game description. Can anyone provide any insight about the true situation here?

My understanding is that power draw damage would be capped at 70% for a bow with 1 powerdraw requirement, and 84% for one with 2 powerdraw (and more for others). I'm certain it's not capped at 70% due to the fact I regularly do more than double the damage of the bow (without a headshot) with my PD10 character and a masterwork nomad bow. Not sure where the original source of the claim got it though.

You can't. Not if you actually want HIS throne. You have to go make a kingdom of your own.

I just noticed something (possibly a bug) that's related to map speed: Prisoners are supposed to slow your party down, but when I disbanded all 8 of my Desert Bandit captives in an effort to speed up travel, my movement speed decreased from 5.5 to 5.4.

Not sure how I'm going to catch those other Bandits for my quest now

Desert bandits are mounted - if you huave a few infantry they'll speed you up.

Not sure how that makes sense...
I mean, if you took their horses as loot- I guess that would help since you can use the horses to carry your gear, or wounded men.  but from my experience you very rarely take horses as loot.

I never said it makes sense, just that it was true. Which it is.

  11. Symbol on Shield

They all do it if they are green and black, but the emblem isn't applied until after you leave the screen. If you want to be sure, equip it and click on the model of your character to have him turn around.

And yes, this time I agree it's green. Still looks yellow on the armours.

Yellow and black here also. . .

Yellow for me. Although you could arguably claim the slightest hint of green, it's definitely yellow.

I'm going to be pissed if I log in one day and see nothing but AAR reports flooding the front page. They might need there own board if this keeps up.

That's actually kind of a good idea. The forum thing.

You certainly seem to be inspiring the AAR's around here, let's see how many keep it up (I'm considering it myself... but I did one once, and I know how tricky it is to get it really good...).

    Hail to the king!

None. So long as you click the option to continue.
  16. Sieges, Lords and the beserk God

When defending in a siege, I regularly go through 3 large bags of bolts... and then more I scavenge. 100+ kills. The bow is the 'better' weapon, but it suffers from the problem it had in reality - it takes AGES to learn to use well (in this case, many, many levels of strength and power draw), which puts it out of reach of any character who wants to be anything other than an archer.
  17. Traveling speed

I suggest looking in the thread below on the paradox forums - someone did some testing.

Xbows have no bonus against the armour, they just have a high base attack. Personally I am a horse archer. I put the kergits to shame. When your proficiency hits about 350 and you have horse archer 5, master the firing while moving and picking off other riders becomes no problem. I use the bastard sword for dispatching the infantry. One thing the guy above forgot about the bow... Our power draw adds to the damage. Max 40% boost. The draw requirement of the bow is also added. a bow with draw 8 and 40 damage, is actually boosted by 120% which means the damage is 88. Higher than any crossbow. You just need to invest the skill points and the time to get the proficiency high enough to use the bow effectively. Higher the requirements, the more proficiency you need to be accurate. Crossbows are easier to learn, but the bow "eventually" is much stronger. (and faster) That said, you don't need the best bow. Get a good bow and upgrade as your proficiency increases. Putting an arrow in their head is the goal, not putting an arrow through the head if you get what I mean.

In one of my campaigns I have eliminated the kergits and own half of the Vaegir, Sarranid and swadian territory. My 5 heroes have 6 or higher trainer, making them weaker fighters, but I can upgrade over 100 troops with all of them leveling once a night to the second last tier. In times of peace I gather recruits, and stockpile then in my towns. Start of a war, I grab a full complement, and by the time I arrive at the enemy territory, I have professional troops. I use a ratio of 10:1 cav to archers. No infantry. Utterly destroys any AI army. ( I only have archers so when I run out of my 102 arrows in a siege (all head shots, or body on soldiers I know I can 1 hit kill) I can pick up the arrows from my archers that got picked off) I play on the max difficulty, (rated by the game as 149%) and with this army and strategy, I kill most AI at 10 to 1 casualties, and 25 to 1 deaths. My buddy would swear by the crossbow, but I would say that the bow is better, just more investment necessary.

Siege crossbow with steel bolts beats every bow until power draw 7. That's 7 skill points and a bunch of strength. Basically, the bow is a more capable weapon IF you want to be a ranged character, but most people saying 'go with the crossbow' are actually talking about a weapon you can just pick up in a siege, while playing the knight on the field.

    Moving court?

In version 1.113, if you have more than1 walled center (town/castle), you just go to the town/castle you want to move your court to and there will be an option in the town menu. You will need velvet and tools.

Just remember that the castle/town must be assigned as your fief, not one of your lords. Otherwise, what he said.
  20. ministers

If you're going to make a companion a lord, I suggest using their friend as a minister - it cuts down on potential rivalries.
