    @blackmamba24

    Thank you, great shots, gargantuan almost.

    With this I think I got all the angles covered now. Big thanks to everyone for your contributions. <3

    @Gilwe
    These are nice looking pictures, the last one looks like the United Nations  :mrgreen:.

    @Filou
    Definitely like the night shot with the battle lines in the back.

    @Gilwe
    Yes please, just snap some screens of the map, while you are at it.

    @Quixote
    Much obliged, that last shot with Reyvadin looks nice: There is some visible sky and mountains in the back, it could use some more life, like a travelling campaign army or some peasants, a zigzaging cow, bandits attacking a caravan, you name it.

    Well i've certainly have bing'ed and googled stuff, but most pictures focus on action and cool shots of the sky-box. But I need a a screen shot of how the overworld / map looks like, to explain how it all works. Also I don't really want to copy pasta pics from AARs, much prefer original content  :wink:.

    I'd like to write about Mount & Blade Warband, using the time to promote this game a little, while waiting for a new graphics card: soon to be released AMD (old one blew out). Could you take some screen shots for me? I need some good looking pictures of the overworld, with maybe some towns and...

    How do you handle these Swadian Knights?

    One of the best moments in game was when I found out by accident:
    If you are outnumbered and outclassed, you need to lure the army into one of your villages. Ideally a village with terrain that can be used to your advantage. Not only will you get peasants to help you, but all mounted enemy troops will fight on foot.

    Question about First-Aid

    Warning: The following is conjecture.

    You can have an effective level 14 First aid if you and your medic have both 10 skillpoints in it, which means that 80% of 'damage received' is recovered. (5%*14+10%)
    No, books can't get you past 10.

    http://mountandblade.wikia.com/wiki/Skills

    But if you and your medic are knocked out, you don't recover anything and you can't take part in battle. The fact that you return to a battle after being knocked out, proves that medic bonuses apply even if your healer is not taking part in battle.

    Also i suspect that there might be some random variable which decides how much HP out of possible 80%, you actually get back.  Or else there would be a clear pattern  for recovery, which would look like this for lvl 10 (60% recovery) it would be: 100-60-36-21-13-8-5-3 %.

    What are your biggest/funniest mistakes?

    Open ironworks in towns where tools were expensive, then buying cheap iron in Curaw/Ahmerrad/Dhirim and piling it in the inventories of my ironworks, to maximize my profit. You can imagine the work and upfront payments it took.

    Nikomakkos' Comparison of Companions

    So I've been messing around with the spreadsheet http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2428, quite a bit, here's what i found out.

    - It is actually possible to combine the power of heavy cavalry (Vaegir Knight style) and the cold efficiency of archers during sieges in companions that are basically double-quiver archers on horses. They can be used as Horse Archers, but they are better when used as heavy cavalry with a blunt Heavy Iron Mace or any two handed weapon of your choice.

    - However most dedicated fighter companions require anywhere from 15 (Alayen) to 21(Katrin) intelligence total, to fill in all the skillpoints.  Thus at around level 32 they reach power draw+power strike from 7 to 10, so there is still room from improvement. On the upside they also get 5 to 7 points trainer. Once the chars are balanced or rather filled up skillwise, you always have 3 useful skills per 3 attribute points.

    - They all get 12 agility because, agility isn't all that important for archery, their primary role.

    - When filling in skill points using the spreadsheet,  the skill total can be [-2],[-1] or [-0] depending on whether you prefer to spend skills every level up or save up to spend 3 skills at a time, after a threshold is reached.

    - An intelligence based char can push up to 4 skills, so IMHO it is best to keep the healer out of serious fighting and also give her engineering (rather than trainer), the healer will get to 30 intelligence in the early 20s, and can then slowly work up some fighting skills. The remaining party skills can be off loaded on some other low starting level char, who can at least use a war bow and ride a steppe charger.  I use 10 companions, Ymira for healer + engineer, Borcha for path finding/spotting, Nizar for tactics.

    - The player char pushes leadership + prisoner management, because all those prisoners the companions are producing need to go somewhere.

    Swadia getting wiped out quick every single game

    DarkShogun417 说:
    I've vassaled myself to the rhodoks and i have to say, all factions are prone to being wiped out at the beginning, but swadia has it at the worst, rhodoks and nords just double teamed them and they died really early

    If you "vassaled yourself to the Rhodocks" and "Rhodocks and Nords" double teamed Swadians, then it didn't die, you killed it.

    I also didn't like how they completely overlooked revamping to give some of the companions contacts in Sarranid cities when they added the faction so I rearranged those a bit.

    Nikomakkos' Comparison of Companions

    Phew, so I'm going to criticize a bit, but I do appreciate the thought and effort that went into this. It's great that you tried to embrace all the possibilities, rather than making bold claims.

    I assumed that part three would contain some sort of conclusion. But i suspect that eventually the low level guys will turn out to be good for for almost anything, and Jeremus will emerge as a boss medic. BTW you could try to answer those questions who is the best medic (first one to reach 10 wound treatment) who is the best path finder.

    That spreadsheet you made is definitely nice, although i did delete the weapon proficiencies, since they depend strongly on what weapon your companions use. Even the claimants (level 3:cool: still get some proficiency points with 0 weapon master and 220 base mastery.
    Also I wish the field where I enter abilities and skills would contain the total number of abilites (i.e. 12-12-30-12) rather than points spent.

    For me the most important maths went into realizing that 3 points intelligence means 6 skill points, which also means that a "party char" could push up to 6 intelligence based skills? Except of course it is 4 intelligence based skills at maximum, due to high initial intelligence on all the guys.
    And out of the 8 intel-based party skills you could drop useless tracking as well as tactics. Then dump the points according to their importance (path finding, wound treatment, engineering, first aid, surgery, spotting), which means that only one companion would be kind of a wimp in the early game. Or one could do the obvious thing and divide 8 skills among two party skill wimps, also giving them 10 trainer as a bonus.

    If you want to plan the chars from the ground up you do need to decide they role, and their skills. But the skill system is so straight forward, that you needn't to know the numbers, if you want to up skills put a couple into intelligence, if you want to push agility or strength there are always at least 3 useful skills to sink the points into.

    Finally the only chars that would really benefit from meticulous planing are nobles (because you can decide when to make them lords i.e @ level 33, and what skills will help them, but unfortunately it is is unknown if they benefit from certain skills at all).

    10 Companions - the Ultimate Way to Conquer Calradia?

    Jackinthebox 说:
    Hmmm..i play with nine companions and i dont really think a tenth one would make enough of a difference to deal with the problems it could bring.

    Nizar-Firentis*-Matheld*-Deshavi-Klethi-Rolf*-Baheshtur*-Jeremus-Lezalit*

    This group has never given me trouble, as long as ive not done things they dislike.
    But seeing what they dislike(fleeing, raiding villages, no pay or food) i dont have trouble with it.

    Wow, actually I like your choice a lot because you have 5 nobles* in there, and once lords they can be replaced by 4 for a conflict free late game. Basically you could make use of 13 out of 16 available companions, as well as 5 out of 6 nobles.

    I think i'm going to switch out the companions in my current (8 companion) game for your choice, because i only have to replace 4, and they'll hit lvl 30 in no time considering the training skills of the rest.

    A Better Medieval Movie than "Flesh+Blood"(1985)?

    Mage246 说:
    I hear "Black Death" with Sean Bean is supposed to be a good medieval flick, though I have not seen it myself.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1181791/

    The second entry in this topic Black Death (2010) one of the worse moves i've seen lately. A lead actor with zero charisma, a cold blue color filter to make everything strange and removed and a script trying to be clever and suspenseful, which falls flat on presenting us with any meaningful insight into motives or character.
    At least corpses, torture and killing is shown in plentiful but not sickening amounts. So here is to artistic restraint!

    Just how does the script try to be clever and different? A band of torturers is sent out NOT on a which hunt, rather they hunt a necromancer. *(Editorial note) Didn't Jesus do the same thing? Bring a guy to life from the dead.* Anyway because we all know that this is all baloney, we are shown a dead body, brought to life by a red haired female (a necrowomancer?). Just like the hero, the audience is led to believe that necromancers can exist in this movie's universe, so fooled once. Later it turns out that the corpse was just a drugged girl (possibly the hero's love interest or his sister or both) and nobody can bring back the dead, without a defibrillator anyway. Fooled twice.

    The hero/ the fool who is lead by a twisted biblical idea of having to kill loved ones to prove his love of God. Then learns to regret this kind of trial of faith, instead he turns to torturing for proofs and confessions. He is for once on the right track, back to hunting witches! Roll Credits.

    In regards to Mount & Blade there is a variety of weapons, couple of horses, also cattle and armors on display, though this one guys shield appears to be straight from Toys'R'Us, and the ring mail armors look like silver spayed wool pullovers.

    Surprisingly this movie is big on mercy killing, special shivs are shown "Fastest way to a man's heart.", ey!? Anyway if you want to kill some of your time, this film will make it long, discomforting even painful.

    Single Player Enterprises

    JosieJ 说:
    If you don't have much money, you could start with ironworks in Curaw, Dhirim &/or Ahmerrad, then switch them later.

    The few cases where dyeworks aren't the most profitable are in the Rhodok cities, where you're competing with an already-established velvet industry, and Shariz, for reasons I've never been able to figure out.  I've had good luck with tanneries in the Rhodok cities and an oil press in Shariz.  I also read in another thread someone recommending a linen weavery in Shariz, but I've never tried that myself.

    I agree with all of the above recommendations.
    Also all Sarranid cities can get away with something other than velvet from dye-works.
    Linen in Shariz
    Oil in Durquba
    Wine (or tools) in Ahrmerrad
    Wine/Oil/linen in Barriye (not quite sure actually).

    Cheap and available raw materials are the best indication for a good profit.
