  1. 1.112 - Save often

Gotta love those bug fixing patches.
  2. I am King, now follow me you puny minions!

    Thank you all commentors.

I'm going to try and up my honor rating, maybe that's the trick.
If not, I'll just start making more companions into vassals and the hell with all those nobles.
  3. I am King, now follow me you puny minions!

So I've started my own faction, grabbed Weyha and Caraf Castles, and also Shiraz. I have like 10 Emirs in my prison chamber, honor rating of 4, renown of 800+, R2R of 22. I have one vassal, my companion Katrin made into a vassal because I cannot defend 3 properties at a time. The Sarranid hate...
  4. Border incendents...

I suppose if you're with good relation with the king you can go to him and tell him that the peace with <enter incident factiojn here> ill suits you.
  5. Money: A Big Problem

I seariously don't get the money problem, Im sorry.

First thing I did in the game, before swearing vassalege or whatever is to TRADE. I got Katrin and Marnid with trade 3, which is apprently more than enough, and I easily aquired a nice gold nest of about 50k, in just the first few days (until day 20 or so).

I admit, not being in a faction means you are never at war means you're never trouyubled and means that you can basically trade with any city, that's a big plus. But even vassals can earn their keep in my opinion by trading with cities that belongs to peace/truce factions. I'll never degrade myself to running letters like a postman for Sanjar Khan.
  6. Prize in Tournaments

Well, I guess if Mike Tyson won a boxing match people won't be so much surprised. If you already have high renown or a string of successful tournaments, I suppose your renown reward goes down a lil bit. Still, tournaments are second best way to get money in the game after trade.
  7. Your favorite companion

    Borcha.
He's like a big russian bear who fights drunk and can hear an elephant coming from miles away
  8. A Kings Sorrow or Why Does Everybody Hate Me

In my game, day 100, people are already starting to defect but it's not in the massive manner you just described.
    A few pointers:

    1. From what I've heared so far, the best way to keep those idiots, I mean nobles, happy - is to ask all of them who do THEY think should get the fief. Put it in a spreadsheet or something. Then give it to guy most of them said should get it - then he's happy, and the people who supported him don't hate you. The people who didn't support him still hate you, but at least it's more balanced this way.

    2. Don't keep lords at all, have leadership score of 30 and run the kingdom by yourself. Throw every single noble you find in your dungeon and rule like a true despot.

    3. Bandits do seem to pop up more alot in latter stages of the game. Getting their hideouts SHOULD reduce their number, but keep in mind that their hideouts respawn in time... hmmm... I guess the really weird thing is that even when my force outnumbered and outforced theirs, the bandits never yielded, even when I was charging with Knights against 5 looters, they always stand and fight me. Sounds pretty dumb, and should be fixed imo.
  9. Prize in Tournaments

A victory without betting on yourself is supposed to grant you a minimum of 200 denars to go shopping in MBmart. Also 20 renown unless you were eliminated and chosen to return by the master of ceremonies due to your exquisite fighting skills, then you only get 19 renown...
  10. Question about renown, am I such a badass?

Day 50 or so, renown 170, Im without any fiefs and never pledged anyone. I encounter some nobles, and when I present myself they say stuff like "I've heared of your great valor" "People speak your name in fear" as if I was Atilla the Hun. I got an army of like 30 units, some of them elite but...
  11. Player Kingdom - Pro's and Con's

Just so Im super clear on this:

I can make my own faction by...
    1) pledging someone else, getting a castle, renouncing.
    2) not pledging anyone and getting a castle?

If I choose the second option, how do I fix the relations with the faction whose first castle I've taken? Im guessing they would've be pissed...
  12. What's the point of having right to rule when you are a vassal?

    Well that's strange...
Are you clicking "reports" and then "Character report"?
  13. Any advice and/or help for my kingdom

There's another course you can take, Im not sure you'll be able to pull through and It'll make you a meanie, but at least yit should earn you some peace and quiet. Commit gurrilla attacks against singular Swadian counts and catch them, bring them to your dungeons in Praven. When Swadia offers you cash for them, give them the finger instead.

Yes, you may lose honour, and yes, they'll hate you even more... But them more nobles you put on your dungeons, the less armied they can raise against you. Badabing!
  14. What's the point of having right to rule when you are a vassal?

You gain right to rule by sending your companions to those quests.

go to any of your heroes in party and talk to them.
    Click on asking them something
tell them you aspire to be king one day
they'll suggest they'll embark on a journey to god-knows-who for a month or so and return with support, you say "yeah whatever", they disappear, come back after a month or so and you gain +3 to R2R.

    That's it in a nutshell.
  15. Trade deficit = Poor Prosperity?

I admit that I have no idea how the prosperity factor is actually calcaulated, but in all honesty I can't understand why selling items to the city is supposed to increase it's prosperity? I would expect BUYING the goods manufactured in the city would increase their wealth and lead to a "golden age" of commerce.

At least, that's what I've learned on my B.A in Economics
  16. Siege Bug!

Yes, getting stuck on the ladder is a known issue with wb.
two main ways around it: 1. order your men to hold position, take out main shooters with your bow, then let them charge, so stuck fighters won't get owned 2. Be the first on the ladder and force yourself in, they seem to be acting better when you're already taking hits inside the castle. Of course you need to be well suited for that...
  17. Cattle Driving?

the trick is to imagine yourself as a sheep-dog.

The cattle run in the opposite direction from you. try to position the cattle between yourself and your destination, then move slowly in their direction to make them flee towards the desired location. only problem is, chances are you're faster than them, so it means you also got to alter your position every second to keep them on a direct line. Take about a minute of getting used to. I drove cattle from Tulga to Shiraz, and then took an oath never to handle livestock again.
  18. (Warband) Newbie starting out, help will be appreciated

Sounds nice Kaidos, gonna give it a try.

Doesn't the moral penalties for retreating so many battles kind of ruins it tho?
  19. Merchandising/trading can make you immensely rich without investing skillpoints!

    Yoshi Murasaki 说:
Then you sell to all the merchants: horse one, armor, weapons and goods. If you still need to sell more and they have no money, just buy something.

hmm, I thought only goods merchant is willing to buy things like oil/ale/iron/salt. What would an arms dealer do with a bag of salt?
  20. Merchandising/trading can make you immensely rich without investing skillpoints!

    Hello,

Like yourselves, I too have discovered the magic of trade in warband. However, there seem to be a slight problem party-pooping my trade fiesta: I hear of a great deal that'll get me 300-400 denars per item sold, I buy a bunch and go to the other city to sell ... ust to discover that the merchant in the selling city doesn't have enough money, only about 1500 denars. That means Im now stuck with a stockpile of goods! How do you work that one out?
