Whenever I've picked full forest maps, I've always hit water down a few levels. Like, down three or four levels and I've always wound up getting sand stone and stuff.

Wait, wait, wait... Why are we going to the average district? I thought we were already in the average district? Wasn't this tavern in the average district to begin with? I thought we were going to the poor district to meet up with my criminal partners to find a way to get out of this whole mess?

I'm going to try to set this back up. For all intents and purposes, let's pretend that we've all met up in the passageway to the poor district, and I'm leading us through.

Just wanted to let you know that the Lordship of Ireland is broken. When I try to join them, instead of 1 enemy at the beginning tutorial thing, I get 2, and the merchant never comes out. Usually it's the normal bandit, and then it's a random fighter. Like one time it was a knight, another time it was a looter... Weird stuff.

I really have no idea. Maybe. If so, everyone get down here and we can proceed through the depths towards the poor district.

Even so, apparantly the door is locked, and I don't remember locking it. Perhaps I unlock it and everyone else can get in?

I really have no idea what's going on, haha. I was trying to get everyone down the hatch and then go in myself, but whatever. I figured there should be some unifying moment between everyone where we have to team up to defeat a common enemy.

See, there's so much of this game I have yet to figure out. I've managed to create some nice fortresses, but I'm always limited 'cause I have to devote so much space to storing stone. But I've pretty much worked out how to do good in dwarf fortress mode.

But when I play in adventure, it's like half the map's missing. There's not enough enemies, you know? I guess i'm used to playing ASCII games with a lot of enemies, but the only guys I've ever found en masse are troglodytes way deep in caves, which I can never get out of once I do find the troglodytes.

I know what you mean. Apparantly I can only swim when I don't want to, haha. I even tried maxing out a guy's swimming, and I still can't figure out how to actually swim places. And when I do wind up in water by accident, i don't know how to get out.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Just as Cassius was about to go down the narrow shaft into the depths below the city, he heard a cry from one of the men. He saw him as the bolt went into his leg, and he knew that he had to help. He dashed over quickly to the man, making sure to grab the doctors equipment he had left in the midst of the fighting. Grabbing the man, he hobbled over to the hole in the ground, and asked "Do you think you can climb down?"

Cassius nodded to the noble, before adding: "Listen, I don't mean to offend, but you're going to have to act the part if you want to survive in my part of town. I don't know what you've heard about the poor district, but most of it is probably true. You might want to take some clothes off of one of these men, or be prepared to lie about your origins. For all intents and purposes, you're an associate of mine. You're still new to the political scene, so our enemies might not recognize you off hand. But you will have to act like a criminal, and think like one. But let's cross that bridge when we come to it, yes?"

With that, Cassius jumped up and ran towards the counter, slamming into one of the men behind it. He grabbed two bottles, breaking them on the man's face, shouting "Everyone who wants to get out of here, follow me!"

Getting off the man, he checked around for a sign of a trap-door of some sort. After a few seconds of scanning, he managed to find an irregularity in the woodwork, and instantly knew that was his escape route. He opened it up, and once again called out to the nobleman. "Bring your men, too. The more people we can surround ourselves with, the better chance we have of surviving. Come on!"

Cassius saw the bolt fly by the nobles head, and he let out a loud gulp. "We definitely have to get out of here." He thought for a moment, pressing his hands against his head in a attempt to remember anything that could help them out of the situation they were in. Suddenly, it clicked. He remembered one day he was having a conversation with the bartender, something about an underground passageway that led to some of the shadier parts of town. Apparantly the tavern keeper had his hands in some pretty serious ****, but that didn't matter anymore. If he did survive this riot, the vagabonds in control would probably kill him for allowing something like this to happen. If anyone found these secrets out it would damage the security of the entire organization. "I have a plan, but we need to get behind the bar counter. There's an underground passage that can lead us to the poor district, I have some friends there. Something tells me this isn't a safe part of town for any of us anymore."

I might as well jump on the bandwagon.

Nice try, but the bloom doesn't work out so well.

Oh well. It's pretty fun, though. I'll just play on smaller worlds for now. That seems to help a bit.

This is probably a stupid question to ask, but does anyone else get a lot of lag?

Seems weird considering it's an ASCII game, and all. I mean, I can play Mount&Blade on high settings with no lag at all, but it feels like every step takes forever on this. Dwarf Fortress mode runs well, though.

Yeah, I gotta go too. Spring Break's already over and I've got some schoolwork I've been neglecting. I'll probably be back later tonight.

"Why, you clever bastard. I knew our paths would cross eventually. I'm sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to get that work for you now," Cassius said to Frenay. "I've decided to give up that aspect of my life."

Turning his attention to the noble, he added, "What do you think we should do next, sir?"

Increase relationship with honorable lords, decrease with dishonorable ones.

I think it has something to do with lords joining you as well (if you have your own faction).

It's the same idea, really. But, from what I understand, I think the higher your honor is, the more people will readily believe the option that you're starting the faction to 'protect the rights of the common person'. I've generally found that all the honorable lords support this option.

Cassius turned back around to face the nobleman. "I want to follow you. Conscript me into your army, your band of brothers. I know this city like the back of my hand, all the districts, all the corners and crevices. An ex criminal would be a valuable addition to your retinue."

He turned his head down. "Today I have been stabbed twice, assaulted by peasants, and have had to escape out of two different situations where my life was on the line. Now, either you're bad luck or the criminal life is getting to me. I am young, but how long am I supposed to live like this? I wish to join you, and give my life for something better. This city is going to hell in a handbasket, and profiteering isn't going to help my cause out a bit. You don't have to accept my offer. Just... consider it. I would appreciate that."

Cassius slid away the trap-door, grabbing the noble before quickly slamming the door shut once more. He pointed to another door at the opposite end of the room. "There. You're safe. That door there leads to an alleyway behind the tavern. You can use it to go get help. This situation has quickly escalated out of control," he said to the noble. "By the way, my name is Cassius. You seem like an honest fellow. Maybe in a different time, I would have been more like you. But I'm no noble. I'm just the son of a whore and a drunk, and I do what I must to live. I hope you can understand that."

He turned away from the noble. "There is one thing I would like to ask you..."
