I had a rough time getting started as well. I ended up hanging out in the Ravenstern areas and just took it easy and slowly gained more experienced troops from the bandits in the area. I honestly have a better time establishing myself rather than later in the game when you got all the top notch troops.
I talked to someone in a tavern and they offered me the map to the Redbrotherhood Hideout- but to be honest, I was on the dang phone and don't remember if I paid the guy for the information on the location if the hideout. I hear that it is ''near'' a village somewhere, but does it show up on the map if I zoom out and look? Also, who is it that offers the map for this hideout?
Well thanks guys. I am managing with 170 troops and I only have three villages for now. I am still pretty new at the mod. That being said, I'll hold on and keep prodding along and will eventually try and take on one of these groups and hope to be triumphant.

Ok, call me the FNG here, but why is it that in Warband when I ride a horse at full speed, my polearm (lance, spear, etc) never drops to the couched position. What am I missing???????
