    The Drunks' Guild

My local has something called Dancin' Dog on tap. It actually has excessive Oestrogen in it. If you drink three pints or more you'll start talking continuously, become overly emotional and think you can drive when you can't... It's a 6%+ cider and it has kicked my ass everytime I've had it.

It'd be a shame to have all that booze go to waste.

Very True. One of my mates had a bad one a few years back. About 6-10 of us (It's hazy) shared a hell of a lot of beer. The fridge was stacked inside and out. We spent most of the night playing video games, and as people collected their senses and left, we carried on. It got to a point where it was getting light and we decided to hit the sack so to speak. We got in our sleepings, me on the floor, him on the sofa. I was just drifting off to sleep and something quite large hits my feet. Then it happens again. By this time I can hear a distinctive "HHHHHUUUUUUURRRRRPPPPP" "HHHHHUUUUUUURRRRRPPPPP" "HHHHHUUUUUUURRRRRPPPPP".

The worst part is I actually couldn't be bothered to get out of the way nor clean myself up. With it soaking through to my feet I lay there, not even moving.

One other puke story I remember hearing of is a mate of mine called Ox, so-called for his incredible constitution which allowed him to drink anything and everything. One day he actually found his limit. He'd been drinking ciders such as Taurus and Diamond White, also getting through beers including Special Brew. He wound up puking over his fridge. When he cleaned it off in the morning, it'd peeled everything off that it'd touched

BTW, Jagermeister is best hair of the dog treatment there is.

And uh, Dtothe3, you should really learn exactly what those UEFA regulations are going to do, because they won't be this catastrophic doom that so many people are predicting for Chelsea. Leeds didn't have a Russian to whom the club is one big plaything, either.

I will have you know he treats Chelski like a circus. You've missed the bit between the lines. When his club fails to qualify for Europe due to a problem that won't go away if you throw large sums of cash at it, he'll be gone. As will Chelskis hopes.

2012 relegation? didn't know you knew next seasons results.

Have you seen their performance this year? Escaping the relegation zone was something of a miracle already. I've seen better shooting by Storm Troopers.

No. They just can't speak their own language.

Actually I hae it on good authority that it's to ensure that the Scottish and Welsh cannot understand the English. We like the Irish and Americans. The Irish because they know a thing or two about quality drinks, the Americans for their actions during the Falklands.

    To quote Wikipedia

"The United States initially tried to mediate an end to the conflict. However, when Argentina refused the U.S. peace overtures, U.S. Secretary of State Alexander Haig announced that the United States would prohibit arms sales to Argentina and provide material support for British operations. Both Houses of the U.S. Congress passed resolutions supporting the U.S. action siding with the United Kingdom."

"The USA provided political support voting for UN resolution 502 requesting the departure of Argentine troops. They also discreetly provided the United Kingdom with military equipment ranging from submarine detectors to the latest missiles."

Just to add, there's no implied meaning by the septic tank. However, when the English call the Welsh a bunch of *****... There's some evidence to suggest sinister undertones.

    **** that, we're 2011 relegation contenders!

Don't worry though. If this whole thing about football clubs only being able to spend what they earn comes through, Chelsea will sink faster then Leeds United. Still don't understand why you got rid of your old manager, can't remember his name right now, but I'd have taken him at Chelsea.

    Bodily health thread.

He hasn't used lube is the problem. That's a friction burn right there boy. Guys can only do the bad deed at most around 8 times a day. I've concluded this after vigorous testing between the ages of 14 and 16. Even attempting to hit the upper bar is likely to result in friction burns, a funny smell and no girlfriend.

If you need confirmation of this, ask to your local religious official, he can guide you on the use of lube in the lords work.

Just to clarify this is a subject about Trolls. I'm not what I would call "reacting". I'm stating my opinion of people who go out of their way to de-rail active discussions in progress. If it were anywhere else, I'd ignore them. It's also a bit of a cop out to suggest that people who wish to complain about trolls are in some way negative.

If you were at a party and someone acted like a forum troll they wouldn't be invited back. Why does common sense and curtesy have no place on a forum?

    Steam?

    pickled_heretic 说:
i can find many old abandonware games that i used to love like x-com that are fairly well supported on modern operating systems for 5 dollars or less.  5 dollars is nothing to me.  i spend that on a drink at a bar.  I would gladly pay 5 dollars to have tech support for some of these old games that are hard to get running on vista or windows 7.

The other bits are fair points but I wanted to focus on this at first. I picked up the entire collection for £8. I missed the sale on M&B but couldn't wait after playing the demo. X-com: UFO Defense is one of the games that absolutely defined my early gaming years for me. It really set up what I expected out of my games. I never completed it when I originally had it. I orginally got steam because it was necessary for Napolean: Total War (I think that's it's name). After realising the scale of Steams library I hopefully typed in X-com.

For me, as a retro-gamer, Steam gives me access to titles I thought were long lost with absolute convenience. I finally completed X-Com: UFO Defense and am working my way through it's sequel. I got those two and three further games for £8. I got easy and instantaneous access to what i wanted, delivered in a timely manner. Pick up and play has never been this easy.

    Most of the arguments I hear against steam sound like this (not just from here mind);

    1. It's an added program running on my computer.

    2. Steam takes a large cut from developers for what they do.

    3. I don't like it/It sucks.

    4. It's another form of DRM.

    5. Never heard a valid argument for using it.

    6. What happens if you lose your steam account or get banned.

    7. Can't resell the games.

Now I'm going to give my two bits on the comments i hear.

    1. I run several programs on my computer. Seems to work fine with me. This is only opinionated though, I'd agree that if you're trying to run the game at max then it might be troublesome.

    2. As do gamestores who also perpetuate selling second hand games which, IMO, is directly stealing from the developer, as well as taking a cut from new games.

    3. Opinionated/no factual reason given.

    4. DRM which protects the rights of the developer? Thats a bad thing? Also, I have nearly all seasons of Family Guy. Everytime I stick the disk in I'm told "Do not copy this disk" and "Stealing is against the law" which I find incredibly insulting. Steams form of DRM is not invasive, and far more acceptable for it.

    5. Bit of a cop out right there.

    6. I'm not stupid with my credit card details or my National Insurance Number. Why would I be stupid with my games library? I wouldn't store physical games outside my house. Nor would I leave notes with my account details laying around. As for getting banned, don't be a tool and that won't be a problem. It is a community after all.

    7. Re-selling games screws the developers. Not to mention the license agreement nearly always states "Don't hire out, lend or re-sell". They're finally getting into a position to enforce that particular rule and it's complained about. People seem to forget that license agreements aren't randomly put together strings of letters. They're legally enforcable documentation. Although I'd agree that it's a big loss that it's a bit trickier to go to your mates for a gaming session.

Maybe it's just me, but here's a few of the things I do, the way I work things. I buy my sausages from my local butcher. I buy my veg from my local market man. Where possible I get my decorations from local charity shops. My clothes from local independent shops. My pet food from the local pet shop. When I'm done with something, I'll give it to a charity shop or a community recycling scheme.

What I'm trying to get across is for me, I do my best to support my local businesses. When I lived down South Wales A large Sainsbury turned up out of town. It had extremely low prices and one by one the local businesses went bust. As they did so the Sainsburys jacked up the price on the relevent products they once competed on. When I left Abergavenny the once bustling town center was barren.

Steam appeals to me because it doesn't re-sell games. In that sentiment alone, it has strong support for the developers. It doesn't compete against the developers. If I found a better system then I would use it. If I could buy directly from the developer I would. I'm not saying it's perfect, but at the very least, it's a step in the right direction.

I've started a game as a trader, I'm now thinking about building two other characters, I'm looking for (ground based) Archer and 2H Weapon Guy.

I was going to try and max their relevent stats, but I also want to max leadership on both. Would someone possibly be able to help and put forward a build to work to for these two?

I know a lot of fun in this game involves doing it yourself, but I'm quite early in, don't really understand how skills stack with other heroes and I just want to have fun with a basic ground and pound unit.

I'm not exactly sure how much, but I make enough so that my troops are paid on time, upgraded the moment they ask, and I have a full army. I'm quite early on (54 units to my army), I've specialised my character into trade to try and get a nice headstart on getting pretty weapons and armour with which to do my business.

I am sorry I cannot remember the names of the people it's relevent to but I can give an overview of what was said and their history.

The Noble chick who ran away from home because she was going to be forced to marry an older man.

The town guard who had the string off his crossbow whilst it was raining, the captain was going to hang him for dereliction of duty.

He complained to me that she had attempted to give him a dressing down over his treatment of the troops. The last line read like this "Thank you for letting me speak my peace".

    Introduction/Hello thread

    Hello. I'm new here... Surprise!

I picked up the demo for Mount and Blade: Warbands, was utterly frustrated by it, but saw a satisfying game in there somewhere. I'll pick it up when I can grab it fairly cheap or when I can pay the current asking price. I'm normally more into Retro gaming, and have been playing X-Com: Terror From The Deep recently.

I'm 25 going on 40, one child and I live in a little place in Wales called Llandrindod Wells. Llandod (as it's locally known) had the dubious honour of being crowned Drug Capital of the United Kingdom a few years back. Little has changed since.

I'm a good poster, I try to ensure that I have fact to back up opinions when debating, and the only flaming I like is on my burgers, and I think Trolls should stay under bridges (assuming the bridge is stone so their wireless won't work). I hope to stick around as long as I'm playing M&B.

One last thing, with it being christmas it's important to consider pets around this time of year. So please let me remind you, a dog is not just for christmas, if carved properly, it can last till new year.

    Good gaming folks.
