On, yeah it's quite old CPU and strace to every game thread will clearly cause more problems than it's solve.

You can't fix multiplayer lag with any option in config file.
It's not caused by any of graphics option because I tried them all.

To be fair I have no idea what exactly strace doing, but you should try my script from same topic. Or you can manually catch PID of networking thread and manually attach strace to it. In both cases this have to be done as root.

So just tested my workaround on laptop with i3-2350M and Intel HD3000.
Can say for sure that using strace via "Launch Options" result in serious performance loss.

Though when using automatic script that only attach strace to one of threads performance is just fine.

Just wonder did you used script or just "launch options"? What is your CPU?

I just feel like it's depend on CPU so I'm going to try it on my i3 laptop. 

Hi everyone! I suppose all Linux users noticed there is lag in MP!
I find workaround that let you play MP without any lag and posted it on Steam forums:
