  1. M&B Warband Beta version 0.860 is released

This is definitely not the time to be bothering with animations.  Unfortunately, it seems like the game shipped well before it was ready.
  2. [Bug] Castle Siege Spawn

I had this happen to me, and this was also on the European siege server.

I don't think I was auto-balanced, and it wasn't at the beginning of the round.
  3. Making Manual Block "The Norm"

I'm bad at manual block, but I have a lot more fun playing on the manual block server.  I don't think that, as a feature, auto-block works with multiplayer, and it should be dropped.
  4. [Bug] 612 "back" button in server selection screen not working

Same here.  I had to join a server and then quit.
  5. M&B Warband Beta Application Re-Opens

    Ringwraith #5 说:
And serial is still required and nobody even bothered to at least put some SSL in. Why does it not surprise me.
    PASS!

That really bothers you?  It's just a serial key.
  6. M&B Warband Beta Application Re-Opens

I just applied with my second key!
  7. [BUG] Uneven spawn time leads to interesting "victory"

Since it is possible for a player to spawn on their own before their teammates, that player is counted as the only living player on their team (everyone else is still "dead").  The problem is that if that one living team member quits before the other players have picked their equipment and...
  8. [BUG] Scoreboard not correctly ordering players by score

The scoreboard isn't always ordering players' names by score. I'll try to get a screenshot.
  9. Bugs, Glitches, and Problems: Reports and Statuses (Updated: 11/11)

I spawned several times with less than full health when playing 0.590 last night.
  10. [Suggestion] buy-menu before respawn

Especially since you are already spawned when the three second counter starts.  I think that's just to get around the really bad lag that only lasted 3 seconds or so at the beginning of the round.
  11. [Suggestion] Name Filter

Wait, I was playing, and I'm pretty sure he got kicked.  I've seen racist and homophobic crap in the beta, but I don't know what can be done about it.  It's too hard to judge someone's intent, and I think that the majority of players treating someone like a dumbass works well enough.
  12. 64 limit or can we go higher?

I'd love to see giant battles (1000+), but I don't think it's possible.  Massively multiplayer games are set up differently than most action games like Mount & Blade.  In a MMOG, players are only connected to the server, and the server handles sending all game updates to the client.  So if there are 1000 players, the server is handling 1000 connections (1 for each player).  In a game like this, where having a low ping is really necessary for good gameplay, there is usually a client to client connection.  This means that each client has to manage a connection to every other client, which doesn't scale nicely.
  13. Trelin's list of Beta testing bugs

    Trelin 说:
    • Everyone seems to enjoy manual block servers, maybe consider adding manual block as a feature to more servers?  Right now Server 8 is where its at, but it is only “Battle”.  People may be more inclined to play the other types of servers if manual blocking was enabled.

Agreed.  I'm terrible at manual blocking, but it's still more fun because it feels more realistic.  Right now, they need to shut Server 8 down if they want people to test the other game modes.
  14. May I suggest another way to report bugs than forum threads ?

Curiously, in what way is this not working? Maybe if there is something I am missing or a better method, I could try and make what we have better. Good criticism is always accepted

Darkness, I think that you are doing a really good job with the current system, and I don't think there is much room for improvement with how user feedback in the forum is being handled.

    Darkness 说:
I realize with a more integrated system, devs would not have to take what they are given and try to replicate it with the details given. Er... that is to say that they would know more about how to replicate the issue since they have more details.

The beta forums work well and even though I think that being able to discuss the game with other players helps testing overall, I feel that it's an extra layer between the testers and bugs.  I would like to be able to file and check bug reports without having to interact with other users, because I feel that the two are separate and there is value in keeping them separate.

There is a lot of functionality that would be gained by using bug-tracking software, but I don't think it's a decision for the testers.  Personally, it's hard to imagine that the developers would want to work on such a large project without a system to track bugs and issues outside of this forum, but maybe they don't.  M&B releases have never had real change logs, but I don't know if the developers don't want to waste time sharing that data with us, or if they just don't use a system to track bugs and code changes...

    Darkness 说:
Although, I would assume they knew of such options and would have implemented them if they had wanted to...

    True.

  15. May I suggest another way to report bugs than forum threads ?

I think the developers would get more measurable and useful feedback if there was more of a system.  I understand that this is the system that has been used in the past, but I don't think that it is working that well.
  16. In-game Names

I've been playing online as Steevlak.

I check out the forums every once in a while, but I haven't posted in a LONG time.
  17. THE #1 biggest problem with M&B....

    It's a great game, but it's a fair criticism.
  18. Whats the exact problem with the ATI drivers?

    Numenor 说:
well. if the problem persists, it's the dev's responsibility to fix it. a LOT of ppl have ati's.  (btw, i have one. with a graphic card like this it's stupid beeing using dx7!)
  19. What Will Happen To Us ATI Users?

I was really surprised that this wasn't fixed in 1.0.

I'm not incredibly familiar with DirectX programming, but they do make it pretty easy to poll the video hardware, and it's hard to believe that it would be that hard to figure out a work-around.  I can't imagine that this is something that is entirely ATI's fault.  I mean, if that was true, wouldn't this be showing up in a lot of other games?  DirectX 9 is only used in just about everything.
