Ok, to be fair, I just gave it a shot.

Team deathmatch.

Tried infantry first, as usual. It takes nothing short of a well-placed, well-timed blow with a pike to unhorse somebody. It is extremely unlikely that you'll kill them in the process. Usually another horseman will get him before you can even run over there.

Then I tried a Khergit lancer. I went from 2 : 10 to 10 : 10 in less than five minutes. And I'm hardly adept. I barely even tried. My ping was 200!

As it is right now, the balance between horsemen and all other classes isn't skewed; its broken.  Look, if they want to make this a horse fighting game, then whatever, do it. I won't play it. And I guarantee reviews are going to ridicule the game for even including other classes. Why even try? Just make every class a horse class and be done with it.

Oh...right, right, right. Its not good enough that they can decimate anything in 1v1, you should be able to take on 3 or 4 guys with no problem. That would make the game more fun.

I woke up this morning to 5 new emails pertaining to this assbaggery. Even though I already did it like 3 pages ago, it seems I have to set the record straight for people that can only read moron.

I didn't remove Styo's admin for banning Dairy, I removed it when Styo retracted his nutsack and went off on nerd ragequest to make his own server. 

There wasn't even a reason listed for Dairy's ban. Nobody that has the nerve to talk to me has said that Dairy should have stayed banned. It's like you're all scared ****less that I might yell at you in ALL CAPS  or something. All Styo would have had to say was: he was trolling, and we all decided to ban him. I think a flustered, stuttering retard could have communicated better.

Furthermore, I don't give a flying **** about where you guys go to get your rocks off.

The community has spoken. Deal with it now. Don't email me, PM me, or even send me a smoke signal about this ever again. If you don't like Styo's vent, then go make your own, it costs about 5 dollars.

Apparently, nobody likes my soup kitchen anymore. Due to a lack of interest, the Unofficial Warband Ventrilo Server will shut down on 9/19/2009, which is when it's 30 day billing cycle is up.

I'd have to say that every major game released in the past year that has included some form of cooperative-survival from the AI onslaught has performed very well. Call of Duty, Gears of War, Left4Dead, and  so on. If Taleworlds wants to move some copies this would be the way to go.

OMFG, as a nekkid fist fighter I suggest that your idea is composed entirely of win. Every game needs its smear the queer mode, and this is a perfect format for warband. Call it: Hunting Party.

Lets remove cavalry from the game :p

LOL, indeed, as far as I've heard, this stems from Asha, who was not in Ventrilo. Ever. Dairy and Booya, were apparently defending him and/or participating with whatever abuses he was conducting. I still haven't heard what he was doing that bothered everyone so much.

Holy Moly. If I had the time I would spin this into a prime-time drama series.

From my perspective, this is actually what occurred, I swear it.

I got a complaint from Dairy stating that he had been banned. By his account, he was banned for telling Sero off. There was no mention of Booya or Asha. I checked the ban list and noted that he was indeed banned by Styo the night before. There was no reason listed. I unbanned Dairy for the time being, and told him that I would ask Styo what happened.

I asked Styo, and received this reply:

There is a player named Asha in game. Hes nothing but trouble. Everyone hates him. I mean Everyone. So Dairy and booya are taking his side and are making alot and i mean a lot of drama. So i banned dairy and booya i left him for now. Vent is supposed to be for fun and playing not drama..thats how i see it...if you want you can unban him..but you will have an empty vent

Not five minutes later, this illogical message from Styo followed:

and i cant it im banned? nice... take care bud.

To which I replied:

Wait a minute. Who said you were banned? I just wanted to know what happened.

Nothing came in return. From there on, I received various reports of Asha being an abusive player. Several individuals have conceded that this issue started and should have ended with him, considered the fact that he was never on Vent. Two of those stated that Dairy deserved to be banned, but not permanently so.

My interest is only in having a freely available, widely known, and easily accessible voice server until it is obsoleted by in-game services or lack of interest. I can handle making the server free and accessible by my efforts. In no small part has Dairy helped in making it widely known; hardly the behavior of your typical griefer. Since I had such little additional information, please, someone explain how anything I did was unreasonable.

Styo's admin privileges have indeed been removed only because he has not communicated his intentions to me. For all I know, he'll take down the server and offer his as alternative. In my shoes, who wouldn't do the same? The only entry on the ban list at this time is the tyler_scot identity, which is completely unrelated.

On the matter of a secondary server I offer this:

Given my knowledge of the beta community (which I'll admit is somewhat limited of late) and the application of a little insight, I have concluded that this all stems from the apparent divide that exists between the casual and competitive testers. He may correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that Styo has been itching to form his own competitive group for some time. All that he lacked was the number of people to keep it interesting. With the augmentation of new testers that I, myself, clamored for, perhaps some are best served by apportioning their flocks away to wherever they will go.

I have now specified that the server which I am running is public; that is, usable by anyone that is not circumventing others from its use. If space is an issue (which I have not heard), the subject is restricted to the Warband Beta Test. Otherwise, prepare yourself for off topic conversation and general foolery in the lobby. It's the freaking Internets for love of God, and it will be what it is unless someone is intentionally bothering the others. If that doesn't suit you, you can go to a game channel, where subject is restricted to related game at hand. And if you're so concerned that someone might eavesdrop on your plans to take the field of honor in a video game (which is unranked, at that), well then perhaps you should grab yourself on a private server and that requires user registration. I have neither the time or the will to concern myself with that.

One last thing. I've posted this only because I'm getting a steady flow of comments in my inbox about the previous two subjects; nearly all of them originating from comments in this forum topic. I don't mind the email, but I'm through with the questions about such an ridiculous affair.

I gain nothing but the same as any other user: a handy group of people I can Warband with. I hope we can all continue to play nice with each other.

I'm going to take the time to clear something up here in hopes that it will deter further discussion in the future.

A public Vent server is a lot like a free soup kitchen. At this kitchen, the soup is free voice chat. It's not perfect, but it is indeed free.

Everyone is welcome. The patrons don't get to tell other patrons whether or not they can eat there. Sometimes, a patron of a soup kitchen might be kind of smelly or a little strange. But since we're all eating for free, we just kind of have to live with it. Chances are he's not trying to be irritating.  What's great about this soup kitchen, is that we can get up and go to another table (read: channel) since there's plenty of them. I've even allowed a private table, which I see now was a mistake. It will be gone very shortly.

If the smelly, strange guy follows you to the new table or otherwise harasses you, you should talk to a volunteer. The volunteers in this soup kitchen are the mods/admins. Against common practice, they are all server admins; which means they can do just about anything. If there aren't any around, send me an email: [email protected]. Those of you who have contacted me know that I'm pretty quick on the response.

The bottom line is this: under no circumstance should you harass, grief, or argue or with the other patrons. There is no bum-fighting allowed in this soup kitchen. You will be escorted out as expeditiously as possible.

If we could all follow the golden rule, we wouldn't have any problems. But it seems I will have to be more specific; I'll be making some edits to the OP and MOTD later so it'll be super clear.

Just keep the soup kitchen analogy in mind: open to everyone, especially newcomers. Free voice chat on the subject of a game, of all things, should be lighthearted. If you don't like that or can't handle it, go make your own soup, and spoil it however you please. The rest of us will continue to enjoy ourselves.

Your graphics card is doing twice the work on a dual monitor; so you'll get half the power...typically. It actually doesn't take much to render a desktop, so your performance hit shouldn't be as bad. However, if you're watching a video or running the Aero theme on the second monitor, I wouldn't be surprised to see your framerate butchered.

You may have been able to get away with such shenanigans in the SP M&B, but Warband has added quite a few things to the quality of "full settings".

I'm right with you on some sort of visual aide for the edge of the map. It's pretty murderous on the random gens. Instead of invisible walls, I'd honestly like to see "You're leaving the map, come on back or die!"

I just saw it for the first time today. Sorry I don't get on as often as I'd like to.

Look, if you want to have a separate channel for your cool club, I don't really care. But the general consensus here and on vent is that the name Old School Beta + Cool Guys is haphazardly elitist and off-putting to newcomers. Old School? As in 9 days older? I like playing with a regular group as much as anyone else, but I don't think its necessary to shut out new people who are interested in the same.

For now I've changed the name of that channel to 'Reserved for Private Use'. I don't care if you want to call it the Imbred Shindig Hoedown Room, as long as it doesn't send the message that we're a bunch of crotchity bastards with sticks up our asses because we were playing the beta a week and a half early. It doesn't make any sense to be that way.

My first reaction to this was negative. But after thinking about it for a minute I do see your point. On the other hand, I still don't think that armor provides as much protection as penalty as it is now.
