I have been playing M&B since ver .751 and have M&B warband etc.. I am missing something? I have been play wfas for about 2 hours and have got good relation with some villages- why can I not hire villagers as troops? theres no option...  do I have to join a faction before I can get there...

Mod idea collection: I want this mod.

Actually a pirate mod could be nice, once ship battles are sorted- be cool with ship cannons and boarding (has to be there cause its a pirate mod) etc, the map could be 60-70% sea, with some small islands dotted about, the small  islands could be like the villages and towns in native (menu "do you wish to disembark?" question when you go to it).. the islands maybe could be much  larger than the area of villages/towns of native so you could explore, fight natives, search and dig for treasure, hunt to fill up on food+water, capture ports, recruit saliors from colonies, collect missions etc..

Travel over the sea should be slow (or food/water gets used up quick), have storms etc to make the sea travel something to think about and plan (out at sea no food and water = mutiny maybe)-  ship battles should be a large part of it, being able to capture (by boarding) and sell/keep the ship as well as sinking it with cannons!

Could be set in era of semi- realisum, but krakens would be cool

    Just a few drunken thoughts..

Mod idea collection: I want this mod.

I havent gone all through the posts so if allready suggested, my bad I guess

Ok a fun mod I would like to see.

How about, Horse Racing!- you enter the 'horse fields' (like a camp or training camp) to see when a race is on.. you enter and get a option to speak to 'Horse master' and from there able to place bets, watch and/or compete-

Races could be pure non-contact flat speed races or anything goes (attack as you race, first over line wins)

The race track could be like 1 mile (or less) fenced in to make a race way, which is littered with logs, gates, hedges, streams etc that you have to jump, negotiate etc- as well as fast flat plain areas..

The races could be combined with horse based tournaments, but with traditional jousting matches..

I can imagine coding the AI to try and win a race is probally very difficult, but its just a thought...

Quick suggestion, since having negative honor makes it pretty hard to play (perhaps its just me) I suggest there be some special options unlocked and available when one has enough negative honor.

E.g. When sieging a castle, if there are no lords inside, you normally have the option of meeting the person in charge. With enough dishonor, you can bribe the guard to desert. How much you can spare will be able to soften up the castle quite some. Also, for realism, make it impossible for full desertion since some people are loyal to their lord. (Factors affecting this is player renown, owner's renown, amount offered, persuasion, army size, garrison size, owner's lord type [ cunning, martial, upstanding etc. ], right to rule, controversy) Doing so will cause a spike in controversy and a massive hit to your relation with the owner.

I hope to hear a reply on this from you waihti and if you do like it, i will get to thinking up more stuff dishonorable people can do as added perks.

Honorable people ought to have other perks as well. Maybe some new quests from the King or fellow vassal lords. Perhaps when dishonorable, Kings rarely listen to your counsel while honorable ones get treated like advisors.

Merging this idea with my Lord council meeting can make pretty interesting results.

again, have to agree there- there has got to be some benifit of being a tyrant..

I would like to suggest that you have your diplomacy skill play a larger role in all interactions with NPCs. As it stands, the persuasion skill is poorly utilized and not really worth putting points into.

Totally agree there, I got a char with persuasion skill level 10 and I still have trouble getting lords to defect to me etc...  possibly and using the defecting lords scenario each point of persuasion could allow for 5% to 10%? extra chance of 'persueding' and lord to defect too you and for example usng renown (err say every 100 renown adds 5-10% chance of event going your way)- a sub menu (use persuasion) could be implemented.. Therefore a new char with 100 renown and 1 persuasion would have say 10-15% chance there way,.. but an experianced player (renown 900 per 6) would have 75- 150% chance (have to remove negative relationship to get actual figure)... just a thought

    Suggestions

Ive briefly read through most of the posts, so apologies if allready suggested..

    How about...

    New Member of staff-
Lords/Kings Merchant Master, hes/she is used by setting up trade within the villages/towns/factions.
With the Merchant Master you could be able to set up caravans (and give troops) to either do there pre-programmed thing and go buying selling or ask them to visit x town/village and buy x items and sell them at x place
maybe having the option for the Master Merchant to have a "What is trade like around these parts" question and you get  trading details (amounts/money/where) which is more detailed depending on your trade skill..

has been sorta covered but New Member of Staff- Castle Captain, with a Castle Captain, he is able to train (to what level depends on your own trainer skill?) troops garrisoned in a Castle. The Constable has an option to place a Castle Captian in a players owned castle is player selects/wants too allowing more than one castle/town to train troops if so desired.. of course this would have to cost money etc..

Ive allways liked the idea of village/town upgrading in all versions M&B,.. maybe barracks, farms (crops/cattle/horse) blacksmiths (weponsmiths/armourers), church etc etc could be a feature added to gain more products and popularity from your citizens.

Suggestions, not so sure if this applies in latest version,.. but what if your staff are only in one place? (other versions I was able to visit staff members in any town  etc)

I really like the Diplomacy mod one of My favoriites (been playing since M&B .751) - Keep up the great work..

    Buying land- 1.126 update

With out sounding foolish, is there in place a system in native Warband, where certian towns/villages produce more of a certian product due to there location in the worldmap ??
(ie more grassland/plains in North above Praven= more grain/cattle production Vs Less grassland and allways snow covered Khudan region = less grain/cattle etc)??

Also are products/rescouces releated to the seasons (ie More grain in summer, less in winter)???

I saw somewhere on Mount and Blade mods disscusion somebody had found the code for a background production of rescouces model that is not being used in game.. I try find post..

Well currentlly I have Shiraz up to 22 prosperity and they are loyal to me and the town is rich...
It wont allow me to build anymore production buildings yet..

Be good if in future, production was linked to villages and they also had production type building upgrades (ie want more grain for bakery, build a farm in village. Need more iron for tool production, build a "mine" at village)

If linked to areas where production of some resource was more available (ie olives for oil in Barrie, Iron for tools in curraw) players could gain economic advantage to make high profits this would make a for a nice "micro-management" sub game,..

Of course players who dont wish to deal with that sort of stuff should be able to let towns/villages manage them selves..

Those are all great ideas, I especially like the availibility of resources for the processed product thing.
Btw I got two questions for you though, how do you know how much prosperity your Shariz has?
And two, I just gotta ask, whats with your avatar?

Ok I just realised that you can set up production buildings in anytown (nit enemy of course) without needing to own the town ..doh!  SOo with that in question, I would hope too see the above ideas, only if you owned town/village..
@prosperity, my bad I mistook prosperty rating for loylaty rating, but as My town is defined as rich I guess it means high prosperity...

@ avatar, aww isnt she cute! she sorta hypnotising....

I am hoping that you can build more than one production building. I am attempting to see if after gaining lots of prosperity and making the town loyal too me it allows for other buildings to be built...

I have played m+B since .751+ and allways hoped for a economic and "upgrade" build paths for towns/villages, its something that m+b has been lacking in my opinion..

[BUG???] Cannot connect properly....ran out of ideas

Ok so M&B has not got Punkbuster activated so its not that (Punkbuster btw is an anti-cheat program used for COD4 etc). Would dodgy firewall allow connection, load and run for a few Min's before kicking??

I will check firewall again (exceptions etc) , but I still don't understand why other online games work fine but not M&B..
If I knew what ports to open (port forwarding) that could be helpfull.
I will hopefully sort it soon..

[BUG???] Cannot connect properly....ran out of ideas

OK, I'm still have issues- but not as bad,.. I reinstalled my adsl modem and got on a little better, manage 50% now to join a game (either works or don't),.. thing is now I get booted after about 2-3 Min's every time (lost connection to server)..

All My other online games hook up fine and dandy,. But I remember an issue before with another game online, with almost exactly same problem. Its problem was punkbuster- would a punkbuster issue effect or cause this problem of allways getting booted after a while in game.??
