    [Unresolved] Connection to server is lost?

    Same problem here now, although I've played M&B: Warband fine for years including MM and NW, and all of the sudden, out of the blue, i have this issue... any ideas yet?

    I tried:
    - Port forwarding for Warband
    - Internet Radio on while playing the game
    - checking for double rgl_config.txt
    - Secure connection is 0
    - max connections doesn't work
    - Verifying game cache through steam
    - Deleting and reinstalling Warband
    - Reinstalling Steam


    Sidenote; I noticed the same as Umbra

    A couple things: 

    1. The reason I thought it was my connection is because my cable modem is sitting right there on my desk.  When I get disconnected from a Warband server, I see a couple of the lights ("online" and "link" lights) on the modem go out for maybe 4 or 5 seconds then come back on and my internet connection returns.  The power light and downstream lights stay on.  I don't know how the game could cause this...maybe there's something inherent in the game connection that causes a lot of line "noise" and just causes the modem to crash?  Perhaps a "Steam" thing?  I have no clue.

    2. Until recently, I haven't been playing any other online games.  When I started playing another game roughly 2 weeks ago, I noticed I wasn't disconnecting.  Having that happen plus reading all these comments leads me to believe there is something goofy with Warband.

    My internet dies for 3 seconds or so whenever this occurs, and with a speedcheck done it does not seem to be my internet, and the router has no mentioned problems and is designed for my provider by Logitech to ensure optimal prestations for gaming..

    Ping 17ms
    (while 3 other computers are being used)

    Just a question about the Kingdom of Holland...

    Is it going to be the Kingdom of Holland, a occupied vassal of France, with the king Lodewick Bonaparte or did you plan to make it the Dutch fighting back to the French, from the unit types i see and the mentioning of Hollandsche Huzaars i think the second.. but the name Kingdom of Holland existed for 7 years as an occupational name... before the war it was the United Provinces of the Netherlands, and after the liberation it became the United Kingdom of the Netherlands.

    Just wondering, if it is ment to be a vassal/ally of France Kingdom of Holland is a fine name.
    If it is meant to fight the French I would suggest making it the United Provinces.

    I mean this mod looks great it adds loads of the factions that really mattered but were excluded mostly.

    I am just afraid factions are going to trade newcomers as slaves, it is plausible i guess for medieval Europe, but it will ruin the fun for a lot of people, since from personal experience they will keep you for as long as they can. that is for the safe spawn part.

    The other part(NLR, NRR and randomming) is more for protecting against trolls that are goin looney and KoS everyone, I am not afraid of individuals, I think the average response time for your average knight is fast enough to keep it to low numbers, I mean more like clans, I don't want to call examples because they're the Templars, that just are there to show power.

    I think these rules are already included in the rule of Roleplaying but for some people this is not clear enough and are therefore underlined as a seperate rule.

    I guess one can not ask for a clearer public vote, as of tomorrow we are going to implement these results into the server (rules).
    We'll give it a week spin and if it works I guess I'll be happy.

    Rules will be restricted to:
    • Roleplay
    • NLR&NRR
    • no randoming
    • no spawnkilling

    Indeed, and for what I made up from the logs, he didn't cause that much damage, but he was more of a nuisance.

    I've played with him a lot as well in the last few days, and just seems fine(most of the time).
    When we informed him in teamspeak he ragequited so maybe he wont return at all, but personally I think that if you ragequit, you do care :wink:

    I've taken a look into it, and so far by just one screenshot he broke NLR, war for nothing, griefing, NRR, randoming and terrible RP.

    Temp-ban will be our answer, it starts as soon as he logs on tomorrow cause if I do it now it will hurt him less. I don't want to perm ban him just yet, I think he lost it when his faction got owned, and when his faction lord left and I left he went to take revenge.

    The Laszloburg Castle gives Invalid Castle Name on our server, other than this everyone is really excited about the map! I love how the armed classes are being trained in the castle and the labor classes in the tavern in the village next to the castle. Confuses some people but makes sense if you really think about it. It also fixes the annoying fact that most factions always have their gate closed, this way you can still access their market or join them. Still if a faction really wants to keep it's market to itself the villages are not terrible to defend, some light defenses make it hard to charge with cav and there is enough cover for archers. all and all really well thought through map!

    The overview looks good, havn't played on it(yet) but I am a bit scared of space, I love the concept of an island, but it looks like a heavy price to pay if you look at the space left.. Other than that (probably inaccurate) assumption, it looks like a great map

    Well honestly, we had like an 20-30 minutes with randoms every 2 minutes, I am not going to lie, we indeed also had times where all went well. only Noobslayer went on 1 powertrip... and that was on me when I was in Godmode with adminpowers :razz: guess he just wanted to show me he could still own me every day :wink:

    Well it is true though, the amount of randomming happening on your average server is simply frustrating, annoying and ridiculous. I actually have a feeling btw who he was:razz:

    And won't be done overnight, sure I am already looking RP-ers, hell I am even making them.. turn terrible randomming people into people that are willing to stand on a tower and stand guard for an hour without complaining, I joined hands with the Duchy of Avanir since I know they are above average RP-ers, they made base in our place and perhaps we even found a couple of mapmakers who will hopefully attract new people to the server.

    People that are Roleplaying properly now get rewarded by an adminspawned feasts for example.

    remove banking I am not sure about, people do tend to want to have something they accomplish with all the time they are spending on the game, if they lose everything they did it will be a disappointment for many, not for me or you, I am still cutting down trees with 500k cash on me, but I think many want to keep a reserve in safe hands

    The server in general however seems to be picking up all the trash whom have been banned from all the other major servers, so it is very difficult to actually play without people randoming. I was guarding a Death_Lord_Cheatz while he was mining, all the way until he sold it off and I killed 3 people who saw him with a cart and just started attacking him, no RP or anything. I trained as an Outlaw, but I never once robbed and if anything only was a "good outlaw". I had at least a dozen attempts of people flat out calling me a bandit and I am not welcome here, until i explained in OOC what metagaming is and how they do not know I am an Outlaw by looking at my nametag basically. Had several people from "The Templars" slashing at me out of nowhere while riding their horse past. Even during a siege, I was sitting towards the back watching, all weapons sheathed, and they continued respawning, charging past all the enemies there, and start attacking ME! Lol, that was kinda of amusing...

    As for Flans and Sander, they are very attentive to their admin duties and responded nearly instantly to any complaints. Of course that is pretty easy to do with less than 30 on the server, so let's see how good they do with a full server :razz:
    No complaints with how they handled things, with the exception of the first incident, but that was before either of them were on.

    Overall, it can be a fairly fun server to play on, but it definetly is not a HCRP server yet, there was very little RP interactions done by the majority of people, but that is down to the crowd that is gathering there, not due to the server/rules/admins. Not knocking the staff at all for trying, just pointing out, with the crowd currently there, it is just a normal server, sorry

    I'll take that as decent so far.. I would like to confirm some of these observations and be completely honest.

    • Yes, the roleplaying is below my liking, my assumption is that we have the trolls fleeing from the other servers to us
    • The Templars have been kicked from the server later that day and since they started listening to rules/admins, although it wouldn't take much more before the Templars will be banned
    • Personally I am inexperienced in being an admin on a PW server and am still mostly learning, one thing I do know is that I must do the ban a little bit easier
    • Before your post I had no idea there was a thing called a log, admins have been given access and be sure that we will look into it (on a personal note, this means I might need a 3rd monitor... already have a 2nd for the bank :razz: )
    • This afternoon we had a peak of 40-something people and as far as I know we did the same there and for me the pressure was not near high, I even kept on shouting if someone needed a bank every time I had to go into admin armor anyway for something else. but indeed we need more admins, and also from NA side.
    • Your final point that we are just like a normal server with this crowd, I am glad you used the word 'yet', so far I am already smiling for the fact it didn't turn into a troll server, and of course we are picking out the rotten apples and throw them out, but first we need to find them

    So I know your comment really helps and if more people wish to do it, I would be pleased to read them, this is how we can adjust the rudder and you can give us a direction. I am starting to hear the community really wants a HCRP server, and I want to give it to them, but I can not do it alone.

    Well the first month or so is going to be the hardest, since we are still looking for the trolls and 'scum' to ban. we already got rid of 4chan, so that is a good first step I guess, and we have a lot of trouble right now with a group of 'Templars' whether these are the real Templars I don't know, so I am working on it right now to find that out :razz:
