At the time the DLC is set the Norse settlers of the regions corresponding to in-game Laithlind had not yet been integrated into the Kingdom of Norway (though I'm not sure they were united as a single entity either).
So something odd and hilarious has been happening during some of my naval battles...
Eventually they plummet back down into the sea and fall unconscious.
Probably just because they never conquered anything on the British Isles, and that's the main focus of the DLC. Sure, we have Frisia too, but they're basically a Danish faction.
Yeah from my playtesting it seems that sending Egil away was the cause of the problem. Had no problems if I kept him in the party. Would it perhaps be possible to disable sending companions away for story mode? It seems there's a few places in the plot where it has been an issue for people.
I dunno, with the sell price of ships, if we were allowed to capture them, it would be way too easy to farm raiding fleets for ten times the amount of money as a monastery and none of the negative reputation.
I know that. The point is that the necessary renown and leadership for 50 more slots would take hours of mindless grinding. I have hated that cap in vanilla already, so I think I am going to disable it or push it up.
The normans as a distinct cultural group didn't really exist at the time the DLC is set. They came about after the region was granted to a Viking several decades later. Would be nice to be able to sack Paris though.
Screenshots on imgur. Hope that helps. The other choice somehow had similar problems but you might be able to waited for those guys to spawn from Snotingaham (please check that as well, somehow it had problems last night but not today when I load from the save at the point when I tell Bjorn about the truce).
I posted screens elsewhere showing that all of the lords involved in the Snotingaham quest are also missing and reported to be near Bal Luighne. I waited for around 30 days. The quest expired and still none of the missing characters turned up.
