Resolved [BUG] Crash after accepting quest Army of Poachers

Hello, At Vostrum, after accepting the quest "Army of Poachers" from Phadon. The game crashes when you leave the town. Sadly, I'm not able to produce the crash files on my computer. But here is a save, right before getting the quest. https://we.tl/t-1jiyoLpXDK all the best, Striam

Not really a quote, considering it was used in medieval times....

But that's the thing. TW CAN let the **** continue

However, I agree we could lock the thread. Most of the ideas have been posted, and now, it is more nonsense than actually anything constructive.

So being a Captain of Lust is piracy?

Speaking of... will it be possible to become a bandit? If, for instance, we control the underground of all the capitals, that will mean that the rulers of the factions won't like us, yes? Will we be hunted or banned, that kind of stuff?

You could well be right, but I think you contradict yourself a bit on one point- in your first paragraph you posit that they are testing features, whereas near the end of your post you say there doesn't seem to be a private beta. Lust said they are working on the combat to get it ready for public testing; they must be testing it otherwise they won't know if the refinements they make are ready for the public. The activity pattern on Bannerlord suggests that once a week or so lots of people begin playing it; probably to test it after a change was made during the week.

So it might not take a year of public testing before release of 1.0- but who knows. It will largely depend on what issues arise as a result of that public testing. But in favour of a quick testing period, they have a bigger team for Bannerlord (I doubt there were 37 employees to test Warband) and will probably have a larger public test in mind. That bigger team will also be useful when they get feedback from the public tests, making bug fixes and rebalancing things faster. The experience from Warband will also have given them a headstart; now they have a better idea of what combat should be like and what to avoid, though of course there are bound to be new issues.

That's something I didn't like in the Bannerlord siege videos; archers seemed to be very deadly with a single shot. I would prefer it if arrows were less effective than they appeared to be, though of course it will depend on the damage settings.

I see your point for my first message. What I was trying to say was that I don't think that anyone outside Taleworlds was testing the game.

On the second part, are you speaking of archers in general or the player? If I recall, it was said that the player had his stats buffed in such a way that it was not representative of actual player power in regular play (thus your damage setting comment coming into play).

If you are talking about archers in general, I tend to agree, even in Warband. More than once have I cleared out a castle defenders just by sitting under the walls with an army of archers. But then again, I blame AI for not taking cover more than I blame the damage output of archers.

How about a list of so called bugs or balancing issues we know exist in Warband, but in the end have not caused us to stop playing?
In singleplayer, I don't even want to get started on Multiplayer.

For example: The overwhelming power of melee cavalry. More than once in my campaigns have I focused solely on archers and cav because they are unstoppable (Swadian Knights and Vaegir Marksmen). In the end, that didn't stop me from playing.

    I've been wondering.
Bannerlord is possibly a long game to test no? Even with cheats.
Considering that last they showed us, they were, supposedly, doing 2 things: still adding features and thus, testing those features.

Now, I'm not that knowledgeable in game dev, but shouldn't we all be expecting at least 1 more year of QA? After all, they aren't pressured by anything else than their own budget. And since they want to release the best game they can, they are probably going to do extensive tests so that there is not one game breaking feature or bug to exploit to an easy win... No? Adding to that that, as far as we know, there is no private Beta or Alpha out yet (37 people on steam, sure... but for how long and to do what?).... Shouldn't we expect at least another year before the game is out?

For Honor has a weird lore to explain it.
It goes more for gameplay than actual accuracy (although it has been said that the combat was good?).

Mount & Blade has their own style. I don't think they'll add Eastern Asian cultures. Persian, Roman-like, Nordic, etc, all these more or less could've mixed during antiquity/middle ages.

If rich enough, you could probably fund a part of the game, thus becoming VIP in all of its development?

Not from what've seen in the map so far. But it could make sense. Since the Empire is crumbling, one city, if rich enough, could go out on its own.

But to go back to Bannerlord... Of Kings and men allows a certain multiplayer aspect that could be interesting to go into for the next Mount & Blade game, or even an expansion of Bannerlord?

Think of it this way :
The map of Calradia is divided into X regions. Each region has 1 village, or 1 town.
You can play in each region very much like persistent world, but when you want to go from one place to the other, two options appear :

Either you are sworn to a faction, and you are going into an enemy faction land => You can't pass
Or you are a free man, and you pay a travel tax.

If the lord or king of a faction wants to cross into enemy territory, it is considered a deceleration of war, and thus a battle date & Time is set. If the attackers win, they can siege the village or town, if they loose, the defenders have a 5 possibility to cross to their side and siege the attacker's town or village.

    No?

If I may : Dynasty Warriors was, from what I can see, more about the hero being the army, than the army itself. Mount and Blade is more about overall balance. The only troops that would not suffer from having banners as weapons would be pikemen or Cavalry (lance).

However, what about banners being attached to their backs, like we can see in Shogun 2 total war? Or even Gekokujo?

So, in Warband, there is less major cities, and this is were Bannerlord shines : there is more than twice as more major locations !!! If we count separatly castle and villages, there is 338 scenes in total (not counting subscenes like taverns) , and I don't count the neutral locations (in black). In Warband, there is 178 locations. In that way, Bannerlord is much bigger. But in matter of real map size, this is more complicated. It looks bigger from above, but there is not much more locations to hold (only 14 more), how is that possible ? Are the locations more spaced from each other ? Are the neutral location the cause of the greater size ?e

I suppose you are right about the spacing. Perhaps we haven't seen the true depth of each location as well. The game has a quest line now.

Let me take... hmmmm.... *thinking*... Viking conquest. England (not counting Ireland or Denmark, etc) is smaller than Calradia. Yet it felt as rich and diverse (from a location pov). I sometimes spent 10h + in Wales, because I had enough to do there. Now, I think they are going for a different vibe with Bannerlord. Making it too dense would not make sense.  They WANT us to explore and discover. No?

Well, to start speculating, might as well and attempt a recap of what we know? I will start a list, if anything is missing, please copy paste and add to the end :3

    1) Two battle scenes are done, and two cities (for all that we have been shown°
    2) In battle, formations are a big deal. Leaving behind our simplistic interface, Bannerlord replaces it with one offering more depth. However, it seems easy to grasp as well.
    3) Horse animations are fantastic.
    4) According to my understanding of the videos, Cities are divided by who owns the castle, and who owns the streets.
4.1) This means that you can destroy gangs in the streets, and put your own men to replace them. I think that if you do so in your Castle, that improves the city overall, but if you do it in someone else's, you have the choice to become a thorn in their side.
4.2) On that same note, the cities feel more alive than ever, but what about actual castles? Hypothesis suggests that it would look either like a compact city, or training ground for soldiers.
    5) You can craft weapons, but no bows or armours.
    6) There seems to be an evident "Bad guy" or "Boss" with the Vladians (Swadia?) It appears to have the biggest empire from the get go and the most heavy troops.
    7) We have seasons, the economical impact is yet to be seen. Same for the impact on waging a winter war (freezing soldiers, food supplies drop faster?)
8.) We have a story mode, but how different will it be from the one we know from Vikings? Will we have more freedom? Will it be more similar to Fire and sword, where we get killed if we win?
    9) The battles seem for now to support more than 160 units per side. Not bad at all, but since the maps are bigger.... Is that the cap? Or could a monster PC handle 1000 units? Or even 500? WIll it lag out like in Vikings?
    10) We can upgrade our villages. Can we do the same with our towns?
    11) We have apparently access to siege equipment. However, if today most of us could figure out how to build a rudimentary catapult, will some less knowledgeable factions have a limitation to what equipment can be fielded?
    12) I might have missed the descendants part, but I thought that was just speculation. Please confirm dear reader.
    13) The trading and bargaining system is supposed to have received and overhaul. We can trade for peace, soldiers; prisoners, what else?
    14) Mods will be core to the game. Will we see a COOP mod? Is COOP the big surprise? Like a constant party of two heroes?
    15) To be added

I am sure I missed a ton of things, but perhaps you can add; or start discussing once more (because in 2000+ pages I'm sure most of this has been discussed) about some of these.

At any rate, hope this helps any new comers.

Do you mean when you assign them to a previously gang owned area?
