I don't know which region you're in, but if you're looking for a fun, casual, but organized group to play with in NA, I cannot recommend the NA Public Regiment enough. They're a really cool bunch of guys (assuming the old guards are still around) so they're a lot of fun to hang out with. They're really well drilled (strong tradition of proper discipline) yet it's casual. There is no training, except about 15 minutes before an event. The regiment began as an outlet for new players and non-regimentals to get a taste of linebattles, without having to be a part of a regiment. You used to be able to go onto a random server and have fun just by being part of the community. Many I time I joined a server, gave my greetings, and had a grand time actually talking with people in dead chat. At the end of rounds, if the last guy decided he wanted to surrender, the other team would politely line up and form a firing squad for him. Now some 11 year old comes running in and stabs anyone that surrenders with the triumphant battle cry of, "CHECK OUT MY K/D YOU FGGT."

When L'aigle comes out I imagine it might overtake NW as the Napoleonic game-to-play in the community (at least for a time) provided it lives up to expectations (and I hope it does). When BCoF is released though I'm expecting a pretty big influx of american players and clans from outside the community. The NW community has got a bad reputation because it's grown a bit stagnant and therefore no-one has anything better to do than argue and harass each other. With a large enough influx of new players I think the community might freshen up a fair bit.
